Max Fitness Aiken, located in South Carolina, has quickly become a popular destination for fitness enthusiasts in the area. With a wide range of service options, including personal training and a variety of classes, this gym offers something for everyone. However, like any facility, it comes with its pros and cons.
A Welcoming Atmosphere
One notable feature of Max Fitness is its atmosphere. Many members appreciate the friendly staff and the overall welcoming vibe. The front desk is often described as attentive and polite, ensuring that newcomers feel right at home. The availability of child care services is also a plus, allowing parents to focus on their workout without worrying about their little ones.
Comprehensive Amenities
Max Fitness boasts an array of impressive amenities. From a spacious swimming pool to a refreshing sauna, the facilities cater to various fitness needs. The gym is wheelchair-accessible, featuring both a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible car park for convenience. Additionally, there are well-maintained showers available for use after workouts.
Online Classes and Membership Requirements
For those who prefer to work out at home or have a busy schedule, Max Fitness offers online classes that enable members to stay fit remotely. However, it’s important to note that a membership is required to access these services. While some find value in the diverse options available, others express concerns about management practices, particularly regarding maintenance and equipment repair.
Room for Improvement
Despite its many strengths, several comments from members point to a need for improvement in maintenance and cleanliness. Issues such as broken equipment, unclean locker rooms, and insufficient oversight by staff have been highlighted. Some members reported frustrations with the responsiveness of management when addressing these issues, suggesting that further attention to accessibility and hygiene could enhance the experience significantly.
Conclusion: A Mixed Bag
In summary, Max Fitness Aiken presents a solid option for anyone looking to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The accessibility, combined with a wide range of on-site services and a strong sense of community, makes it appealing. However, the gym's management must address ongoing maintenance issues to ensure long-term member satisfaction. Whether you're interested in lifting weights, swimming, or attending yoga classes, Max Fitness has the potential to meet your fitness needs—if you can navigate its current challenges.

Decent gear, I appreciate their operating hours. Out of all the gyms in Aiken, this is the only one that caters to serious lifters with free weights. Avoid Planet Fitness if you're looking for a more comprehensive workout beyond machines or smith machines. The quality here is quite satisfactory. Occasionally, some equipment may be out of order, or both deadlift platforms are occupied. If you're not a bodybuilder, there are two secluded areas where you can work out in peace with fewer machines. Additionally, they offer a cardio room with movie screenings, although personally, I have yet to make use of it.

This gym is absolutely fantastic! I feel at ease bringing my family to the childcare center, engaging with the community, and getting fit. They have introduced me to wonderful workouts and nutritious eating habits to support my journey to better health. The sauna area is a favorite of mine, and the equipment functions perfectly.
Kelly Taylor (6/8/25, 11:10 AM):
The gym is absolutely amazing, mate! The equipment is top-notch and the staff is absolutely phenomenal.
Timothy Cruz (6/3/25, 2:38 AM):
The gym is gradually making improvements and adding new features, which is great to see. However, one downside is that the staff doesn't seem to manage the gym floor well. The weights are often scattered around, left unracked, and disorganized, making it frustrating to find what you need, especially when you're on a tight schedule. Also, it's worth noting that the sauna or steam room always seem to be 'down for repair' for weeks at a time, which can be disappointing.
David Butler (5/26/25, 6:48 AM):
I just signed up and I'm already hooked. The folks over there are so friendly and helpful. I haven't been able to attend a class yet due to my hectic schedule, but the personal trainers are experts at tailoring workouts for individuals at any level. My favorite part is the women's workout section tucked away near the locker room - it's a safe space that really boosts my confidence as I start my fitness journey.
Johnny Clark (5/25/25, 6:50 PM):
Jacquelin is an absolute star and she really brings a great energy and atmosphere to the gym.
Roy Sullivan (5/25/25, 9:24 AM):
I absolutely adore this gym! My daughter is a huge fan of the women's only section for exercising. The variety of equipment is fantastic, and the membership even covers the use of hydro massage chairs and tanning services...let me tell you, that hydro massage is simply divine. There's also a lovely pool for swimming laps or taking water aerobics classes. The steam and sauna rooms are a great touch too. While I wish the staff were a bit more attentive and engaged, when you do manage to catch someone's attention they are quite pleasant and helpful in answering direct inquiries. I appreciate the flexible hours as it allows me to fit my workouts into my busy schedule seamlessly.
Judith Henderson (5/21/25, 12:54 PM):
I've visited various gyms across the country, and I must say this one has a certain charm despite its slightly worn appearance in some areas. The water pressure issues in the showers have been quite troublesome for a while now, but the value for money is exceptional. It would be a real shame if this gym ever shut down, so I felt compelled to write this review to show my support and hopefully help keep it running.
Nancy Torres (5/20/25, 6:16 AM):
This establishment has truly deteriorated. Is it truly so challenging to repair faulty equipment and replace worn-out pads?
The premises are unclean. The locker rooms give off a musty odor, with mold accumulating in the showers.
There appears to be an excess of idle staff lingering about. Perhaps a stroll around the gym to acknowledge the various issues needing attention or tidying up the place, organizing weights, replenishing paper towels. The management is evidently deficient.
Doris Moore (5/19/25, 2:30 AM):
Oh, what a wonderful gym indeed! Impeccably clean and incredibly beautiful. However, once you step foot inside, it seems as though you're there for life. No matter how many forms you fill out, year after year, they continue to charge you. You could pay off any outstanding fees, offer to cancel your membership, and yet, they will persist in charging you simply because they can. You surrender your phone number, address, birth certificate, social security number, passport, even your very soul, and they somehow manage to "misplace" it all, no matter how many times you provide it. Cheers to the gym that just can't seem to let you go! :)
Brittany Powell (5/16/25, 2:31 AM):
Do not ever sign a contract with this establishment. I attempted to terminate my membership in person, but they flat out refused. Upon relocating, I diligently submitted all the necessary paperwork to cease my membership. Despite this, they are now claiming that I still owe them money. Upon signing up, the sales representative assured me that I could cancel anytime without being tied to a contract. Yet, they persist in deducting funds from my account. I have engaged with 5 different individuals in an attempt to rectify this matter, however, no concrete assistance has been provided. I intend to post further reviews on various platforms and will provide updates regarding the resolution of this issue to inform others about the extensive delays I have faced. Presently, I find myself one year into trying to terminate my membership. At $39.98 per month, this amounts to nearly $500, which I believe has been unlawfully taken from me.
Ava Anderson (5/13/25, 2:23 PM):
I recently returned from my holiday vacation to find that my gym has made some changes. The operating hours are now different, and I can't believe they close so early on weekends! Not to mention, the equipment in the women's area has been broken since I joined a year ago and still hasn't been replaced. Despite the new paint on the walls, it seems like they haven't prioritized updating the equipment. I decided to leave this facility and look for something else that better suits my needs.
Rebecca Cruz (5/12/25, 7:26 AM):
I absolutely adore this gym! It's got all the gear I require - plenty of machines & free weights, a ladies-only workout area, and even a swimming pool! Megan is just so warm and filled with knowledge. Revamped my exercise regimen whilst relishing training sessions with Marc and Tony. Top-notch work, everyone!
Timothy Jenkins (5/11/25, 10:13 PM):
We just started going to Max Fitness recently, and let me tell you, it's an absolutely smashing spot for a workout! The vibes are top-notch and the facilities are spotless. I can't wait for the steam room to be up and running again, but the other amenities that come with the membership are jolly good. Cheers!
Ralph Baker (5/10/25, 9:28 PM):
I began visiting this gym about a month ago, and I must say that while the staff members are generally pleasant, I did have a meeting scheduled with one staff member who arrived 25 minutes late! The overall hygiene and maintenance of the gym could use some improvement - there are several locker doors (5 to be exact) that are only being held in place by a single screw, some latches are missing, a few shower stall doors are also missing, the floors appear dingy, the lighting is minimal, and it seems like the pool area could benefit from more regular power washing to get rid of those dirt pods. I'm hopeful that these issues will be addressed soon, especially the hygiene concerns; if not, it may become a deal-breaker for me.
Samantha Reyes (5/9/25, 2:15 AM):
I've been a member of Max Fitness Gym for quite some time, and I must say it's been an absolutely smashing experience. The gym is brimming with top-notch equipment and boasts a most inviting ambiance. The staff are a jolly bunch, ever so friendly and well-versed, always on hand to lend a helping hand with any queries. I've made tremendous strides towards my fitness goals since signing up. The array of classes they provide is an added bonus. Whether you're a greenhorn or a seasoned gym aficionado, Max Fitness has a little something for everyone. Thoroughly recommended!
Joan Williams (5/6/25, 12:17 PM):
Update (My opinion has changed. I've fallen off a treadmill that wasn't marked as broken. Most of the treadmills are dysfunctional in some way. I've visited multiple times and found no water available in the entire facility. The water pipes are frequently damaged, and the staff can be impolite. When I informed a staff member about a broken pipe, they replied that it's not their responsibility. I'm no longer looking forward to going to this gym and have been considering just paying the $199 and joining PF. I used to adore this gym, but over the past year, it's evident that no one is invested in its upkeep.)
Finest Gym in Aiken..... However, it's scarcely open on weekends. I work from 7am to 7pm, so Saturdays and Sundays are completely off-limits for me. Apart from that inconvenience, it's a fantastic gym.
Billy Hayes (5/6/25, 12:09 AM):
The blokes at the gym are a proper sham! They won't give me a refund, the cheeky buggers. They told me to email some other bloke in charge of cancellations and said it might take up to 30 days. It's been more than 30 days now, and those tossers won't even give me the lass's phone number or the corporate number. Megan, the manager, won't even bother to pick up the blower to talk to me personally. And to top it off, the gym is filthy and the kit ain't even looked after properly. Outrageous!
Ryan Robinson (5/4/25, 4:55 PM):
It's a top-notch spot for pumping iron with a bunch of lovely staff members who always deliver impeccable service. The only downside is that they shut down the primo side with the sauna and steam room at night. It would be swell if night owls could have access to these facilities, especially since they can't make it during the day due to working the night shift. Cheers!
Daisy Thomas (5/3/25, 12:52 PM):
The folks at the front desk can be quite rude and seem to lack proper listening skills. There is an abundance of equipment available, as well as a diverse range of individuals at different fitness levels. Additionally, there are plenty of classes to choose from and enroll in.
