I do understand the dress code for safety reasons. I wasn't wearing anything dangerous that could harm the equipment. It was extremely unprofessional how they addressed it. The manager sent someone on her first day to inform me about this when she didn't even understand the policy herself. Then, the manager from Texas tried to tell me that's how every gym operates. If you search on Google or YouTube about whether jeans are bad for workout equipment, the first thing that comes up is why everyone dislikes Planet Fitness. There are too many rules there, and there are videos all over the internet about it, but not for any other gyms besides Planet Fitness. I will never go back and will take my business elsewhere.

A splendid gym, I must say! I cannot recall encountering any cleanliness issues or facing a shortage of machines during my visits. The parking area is a tad small and busy, shared with the local BMV office, but conveniently located for easy access. As is common with all Planet Fitness branches, they are not open 24 hours, which can make timing a workout a bit tricky at times. However, their operating hours are typically sufficient, so this is seldom a problem. The staff is consistently friendly and well-informed, creating a welcoming atmosphere that doesn't intimidate fitness beginners like myself. Definitely a top-notch choice!
Peter Brown (6/20/25, 4:47 PM):
The staff is always on hand and friendly if you need anything, and the gym is impeccably clean. The members are very welcoming, and we all focus on our own workouts.
Hannah Gonzales (6/20/25, 6:42 AM):
This Planet Fitness is without a doubt the most top-notch one where I've sweated it out. The cleanliness and organization are spot on. There's a plethora of equipment, no need to queue up for any machines! The staff members are all amiable and accommodating. This should definitely set the benchmark for all PF Gyms!!
Jennifer Graham (6/19/25, 7:15 AM):
I popped into the facility and I must say, the showers in the men's locker room were not up to scratch. There were no changing stalls, and in comparison to other Planet Fitness locations, the locker room fell short of my expectations.
Alan Barnes (6/16/25, 9:06 AM):
I am rather pleased with my experience thus far! The staff members exhibit great enthusiasm, the equipment is spotless and operates efficiently. The showers are also wonderfully warm and provide a sense of security.
Teresa Reed (6/16/25, 4:01 AM):
The new spot at 152 Western Ave is absolutely brilliant. It still has the same lovely staff from the previous location but now in a fantastic new space. They've even got Hydro Massage! And there's a plethora of cardio and strength equipment available too.
Margaret Moore (6/16/25, 3:50 AM):
I've visited other PF locations in Texas and had a good experience there. When I returned home to Maine, I was searching for the best gym and I have to say Augusta PF is fantastic. The staff is always polite and helpful. My only wish is that the gym was open 24 hours. Overall, I'd like to commend them on their great service and thank you for providing a wonderful experience.
Edward Hughes (6/15/25, 4:49 AM):
Great selection of equipment, but the spacing is a bit tight so I try to avoid going during peak hours. The amenities are top-notch and the guy who works in the mornings is always super friendly and welcoming.
Lawrence Murphy (6/13/25, 6:15 PM):
The gym is well-kept and spotless. The team is welcoming and well-informed. The operating hours are a perfect fit for my timetable.
Dennis Rogers (6/12/25, 1:08 PM):
Planet Fitness, the "judgement-free zone" where they even have a loud "Lunk alarm" to discourage bodybuilders? Sounds quite judgy, doesn't it? Personally, I'm not into heavy lifting or bodybuilding, I mainly go for cardio, but still...
Riley Martinez (6/12/25, 5:24 AM):
The staff at PF is absolutely lovely, and the place is kept immaculately clean. The current location is a bit dated and could use a facelift, so I'm eagerly anticipating the new spot set to open in March, as per Google's info. I'm excited to hit the gym over on Western Ave!
Cheryl Taylor (6/12/25, 12:45 AM):
I've heard that there's a requirement to wear a mask during workouts, which is alright as long as it's applied to everyone, including the staff. I suppose exercising in jeans and boots is acceptable too 🤷♂️....that's my only complaint. Apart from that, it's a decent gym with mostly awesome staff!
Layla Johnson (6/10/25, 8:48 AM):
PF is a total rip-off!
After signing up (which can only be done through the app), the only way to cancel is by sending a physical letter to the gym. They also insist on having your bank details when you sign up, making it impossible to just stop the payment through your credit card company. This is particularly difficult for people like me, who were only visiting from another state.
It's evident that this is an unfair way of collecting fees for memberships that aren't being used. If they were a fair business, they would make cancelling as simple as signing up. Don't make the same mistake I did and spend a little extra at the YMCA or a private gym. This place is awful.
Keith Rodriguez (6/8/25, 7:49 PM):
Plenty of room to move around and lots of equipment available. Many friendly faces and smiles all around. The diverse staff is always ready to assist, regardless of their age. An excellent establishment with commendable policies and procedures in place!
Joe Martin (6/8/25, 2:33 PM):
The staff here are absolutely fantastic, always friendly and super professional. They've really upped their game when it comes to cleanliness, making sure the equipment and workout spaces are spotless and ready for use!
Roger Howard (6/2/25, 5:33 PM):
I've been a member for 2 years and absolutely adore it! The folks there are fantastic, and the facility is spotless.
Terry Gomez (6/1/25, 9:05 PM):
The gym equipment is in top-notch condition and the staff is absolutely lovely. The only drawback is the absence of a hydro massage feature, which is a common amenity at most other Planet Fitness locations I've visited.
Eric Anderson (6/1/25, 7:57 PM):
If you are in search of a day pass, I would advise against considering this establishment! A $20.00 fee for a day pass is utterly exorbitant!! As I was journeying from Canada to Florida and wished to find a gym to exercise, I was taken aback by the price quoted at the front desk. Naturally, I opted not to proceed with my workout! Having traversed this country extensively, I have visited numerous Planet Fitness locations. The highest day pass fee I have encountered was $10.00. Previously, I held a membership at the Kissimmee, Florida branch of Planet Fitness, which was a fantastic facility. I will most certainly return there. However, I caution against patronizing the Augusta, Maine franchise if you are seeking a day pass.
Matthew Gonzales (5/31/25, 5:53 PM):
This particular Planet Fitness location leaves much to be desired. It is situated in an old warehouse, giving it a rather outdated feel and limited space. When the gym is crowded, there is a noticeable scarcity of equipment available. Additionally, it is surprising to discover that this establishment does not offer WI-FI services. While not necessarily unclean, the aging infrastructure gives off an appearance of being less than pristine. The staff members, although friendly, seem to be constrained by the resources provided by the owners. They handle numerous complaints, yet their ability to address issues appears to be hindered by external limitations.
