Crunch Fitness - Boise State Street: Overview

If you're searching for a gym that offers a variety of amenities and a welcoming atmosphere, Crunch Fitness on Boise State Street in Idaho may just fit the bill. With its convenient location and a range of offerings, this gym has become a popular choice among locals.

Amenities Available

Crunch Fitness boasts several amenities designed to enhance your workout experience. Although the swimming pool is currently out of order and not expected to reopen anytime soon, other features include: - A diverse selection of exercise equipment - Spacious locker rooms with showers - A sauna for post-workout relaxation - A wheelchair-accessible car park and entrance, promoting inclusivity for all members of the community.

Atmosphere and Community

One of the standout aspects of Crunch Fitness is its vibrant atmosphere. Many members appreciate the friendly staff and the diverse clientele, reflecting all ages and fitness levels. There’s a sense of community where individuals feel comfortable pursuing their fitness goals without judgment. However, some reviews have pointed out areas for improvement, particularly regarding cleanliness and the upkeep of equipment. While the gym is spacious and not typically overcrowded, the state of certain machines and locker room facilities can detract from the overall experience.

Membership Requirements

To take full advantage of the offerings at Crunch Fitness, a membership is required. The process is generally straightforward, but potential members should be cautious about understanding the membership terms, especially concerning fees and cancellation policies, as these have been points of contention for some.

Accessibility Concerns

Accessibility is also a priority at this location, featuring a wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking. This focus helps ensure that everyone in the Boise area has the opportunity to meet their fitness needs.

Planning Your Visit

If you're considering a visit to Crunch Fitness, plan ahead! Be aware that the gym might experience peak hours where equipment could be in demand. Taking advantage of personal trainers, such as Eli, who have received high praise from members can also be a great way to kickstart your routine and stay motivated.

Conclusion

While Crunch Fitness - Boise State Street offers a range of valuable amenities and a community-focused environment, prospective members should weigh the benefits against some of the cleanliness concerns raised in reviews. Regardless, it remains a popular gym choice for those in the Boise area looking to fulfill their fitness aspirations in a supportive setting.

Juan Gonzales (4/29/25, 9:35 PM):
This gym is absolutely covered in dust and cobwebs. It's dirty, most employees who aren't trainers are just glued to their phones. However, the other gym members here are pretty cool.
Stephanie Reyes (4/28/25, 1:50 PM):
The staff is top-notch and the equipment is rock solid. I absolutely enjoy my workouts here. A perfect 10/10.
John Turner (4/27/25, 8:37 AM):
Ever since Crunch took control of the gym, I 'ave noticed a gradual decline in quality. The hiccup durin' the peak of the COVID epidemic was easily understood, but the standards 'ave only worsened. 'Ere be some of the issues I 'ad noticed that 'ave prompted me to bid farewell to Crunch:

*The gym ain't clean—the workout area is frequently dirty; ye can spot the same dust bunnies and dirt piles lingerin' in the same spots for weeks.
*The locker rooms be in dire need of restoration and maintenance—many locker doors be busted and fallin' apart, mold and mildew be present, and they are generally not tidy.
*The lavatories are often dirty and I 'ave encountered multiple instances where there be no loo paper and/or paper towels.
*The roof be leakin' and durin'/after rain storms, the workout area be set up with buckets to catch the rain leakin' through the roof.
*Often there be no towels available and a couple o' times, I was given a towel that be so worn and torn it looked like a rag from me garage.
*The 'ot tub 'as been in constant disrepair for months/years—it be often dirty, the water be only lukewarm, the jets don't work, or it just ain't open. Several times in the past year or two, I went to the gym specifically to relax in the 'ot tub after a bout of skiin', only to find that it be either shut or not workin' properly.
*On that note, the 'ot tub also caused a recent outbreak of Legionnaires' disease: Idaho Statesman, July 23, 2023.
*Some of the staff be very friendly, but some of the front desk staff be so distant and uninterested, that they act like your needs be an annoyance to their textin' or chats with the other staff.
*Twice in the past 3 months, I arrived at the gym at 5:15 a.m. (gym opens at 4:30 a.m.) only to find it not open (and these weren't holidays).
*Much of the equipment needs maintenance/repairs, most of the Swiss balls be often not fully inflated, and equipment be not put away orderly—even though I usually work out early in the mornin', I regularly 'ave to search for various pieces of equipment coz they be scattered all over the gym.
Jerry Kim (4/23/25, 9:17 PM):
I spotted a significant mistake in their billing system after I had terminated my membership. Strangely enough, it kept charging my account for a while before I noticed. I managed to provide evidence of the error and they assured me they would issue a refund. I appreciate their willingness to listen to my concerns.
Jordan Young (4/22/25, 4:42 AM):
I signed up at Crunch Fitness a few moons back and kicked off my fitness journey with a personal trainer, Arielle. She's a real gem - friendly, positive, and full of knowledge. Arielle's got a whole bag of tricks to target my muscles in different ways, keeping each workout fresh and exciting. The gains are already showing, and I couldn't recommend Arielle highly enough to folks aiming to bulk up or sculpt their physique.
Cheryl Robinson (4/21/25, 9:43 PM):
UPDATE: Just after posting the review below, they performed a more comprehensive cleaning and have increased their maintenance efforts. I witnessed Mary cleaning today (1/2/25) at a level never witnessed before... thank you!

The Pros: Roomy, ample equipment, not overly crowded

The Cons: Cleanliness
Jean Ford (4/20/25, 9:04 PM):
I hit the gym every day. The staff is super chill and cool.
Gary Gomez (4/18/25, 6:01 PM):
I 'ad reservations about signin' up for Crunch Fitness after 'avin' come from other local gyms (like Jack City and others) that don't make you jump through 'oops to cancel. I tried to cancel after me 2nd month, and then they charged me for another month, and on top of that an additional annual fee! Beware that these Terms and Conditions are predatory. For real, stop takin' advantage of consumers. Let us cancel when we want to.
Jean Lee (4/18/25, 8:32 AM):
Marvelous gym with the most delightful staff! Relaxed atmosphere and has all you could ever ask for and then some!
Carolyn Green (4/18/25, 7:31 AM):
The pool, steam room, and jacuzzi have been closed permanently, yet the price has not changed. I spoke with management, and they informed me that corporate decided it was not worth the expense to maintain them. So, what exactly are the additional annual fees and monthly charges for if not to uphold the gym? It's a shame; it used to be a fully equipped gym. I also tried reaching out to the provided email address but received no response.
Aaron Anderson (4/16/25, 6:28 AM):
The Wi-Fi ain't workin' and they never bother fixin' it, that's why I gave 'em fewer stars. This is a well-equipped gym with all the essentials. It don't get too crowded like some other joints, and the staff is helpful and know their stuff. I haven't tried any of the classes so can't say how those are.
Victoria Morales (4/15/25, 2:00 AM):
I 'ad a jolly good time bein' trained by Eli. All the workouts were HIIT-based and I truly felt that I progressed even though it's only been a month. I already began to see improvements after the first few sessions, and I'm chuffed about it! I would highly recommend others to give it a go!
Patricia Bailey (4/14/25, 6:10 PM):
The gym was absolutely spotless and Daniel was incredibly helpful in giving me a tour! I would highly recommend this gym to anyone in search of a new fitness center, 10/10.
Samantha Gomez (4/13/25, 2:20 PM):
Daniel provided top-notch customer service and created an excellent workout atmosphere.
Sophia Murphy (4/13/25, 9:37 AM):
5 stars
Daniel was extremely helpful in getting me enrolled, and his positivity was contagious!
The gym has a great layout overall, and the cleanliness of the place was very impressive.
Martha Reed (4/11/25, 12:38 PM):
This spot has all ye need at a gym. Fine gear, fine airflow, and low funk. 'Tis now part o' me daily regimen and I have no grievances. I haven't engaged with any trainers as I be good at pushin' meself to me limits but they all seem very pleasant and easy to work with as I spy them workin' with others. Without a doubt a gym I would commend.
Larry Baker (4/11/25, 12:27 AM):
As someone who has given other gyms a go, and had other personal trainers in the past--- my experiences here have been top-notch.
I initially signed up due to the location's convenience, but I keep coming back because of the positive overall interactions I've had.
When it comes to trainers -- Eli is superb, a personal cheerleader who is also dedicated to helping you achieve your goals.
Ronald Sullivan (4/7/25, 10:24 AM):
I've been a member of this gym for over ten years and I have no complaints. Since COVID started, I've really come to appreciate the spacious layout, high ceilings, and two levels that provide plenty of room to unwind without feeling cramped.

But let me tell you about the best thing I recently discovered here - Trainer Eli. He's absolutely fantastic! He has a special talent for personal training. He's professional, passionate, and his energy is contagious. He listens well and has great intuition. He's a patient teacher and is incredibly knowledgeable and informative. Every session is unique, so it's always a pleasant surprise to see what he has planned next! Eli somehow manages to make a tough, grueling 30 minutes feel incredibly rewarding and enjoyable. I'm loving the progress he's helping me achieve. If you're looking to shake things up, feel amazing, and work hard, Eli is the MAN! **Five Stars**
