I recently had a group session with Mandy and Anna, and it was absolutely brilliant! They were thoughtful and experienced, and the gym had top-notch, well-maintained equipment. I highly recommend it!

I've been a member of The Resistance for a few months now and let me tell you how ridiculously amazing it is. Mandy, the owner, is a real gem. She's kind, welcoming, and encouraging, which isn't very common in most gym spaces. The members are equally amazing - we cheer each other on and celebrate victories like old friends, even if we just met that day. I love being part of a space that is so inclusive and supportive. You'll meet all different types of people, body sizes, abilities - The Resistance has it all. The diversity is what makes The Resistance such a special space. Come join us, we also have pop tarts. :)
Lisa Smith (4/29/25, 9:49 PM):
Mandy, she's a brilliant proprietor! The gym is filled with top-notch equipment and a welcoming atmosphere that feels like family! I absolutely adore my workouts at Resistance. It's a non-judgmental space where you can push yourself as hard as you'd like with your deadlifts!
Gregory Davis (4/28/25, 10:53 PM):
This gym is absolutely brilliant, hands down the best I've ever been to. The sense of community and inclusivity is just outstanding - no matter your shape or abilities, you're welcomed with open arms. Mandy, our trauma-informed coach, is an absolute gem. She meets you at your own level, full of knowledge, support, and the drive to keep you going. Who would have thought weightlifting could actually be enjoyable?
Jean Gutierrez (4/26/25, 3:10 AM):
Oh, what a smashing experience, Mandy was just absolutely brilliant and such a knowledgeable instructor! I feel ever so much more confident now that I can work out with proper form! Thank you ever so much!
Charles Moore (4/25/25, 4:48 AM):
Attended a group fitness class focusing on form instruction, and Mandy did an excellent job guiding and correcting our form!
Harper Nelson (4/25/25, 12:30 AM):
I am absolutely thrilled about this fantastic gym! I popped in one afternoon to have a look and had the pleasure of meeting Mandy. She gave me a quick tour of the gym, and let me tell you, they have everything you could need plus some awesome equipment for those serious about lifting.
What I truly love about this place is that it serves as a safe haven for groups who may feel intimidated by other gyms. They embrace body neutrality, which is just fantastic. No one here is going to chatter about shrinking their waistline, in fact, it's actively discouraged. This is a spot where you can show up, get strong without being bombarded by toxic fitness, gym, or diet culture. I've come across similar gyms in or near SF, but that's too far of a trek for me. I'm really grateful they've bridged this gap out here in the suburbs.
I joined a Saturday morning class led by Aizaiah where we focused on a full-body workout with some emphasis on strengthening the forearms. Aizaiah was incredibly knowledgeable and approachable. Their passion for learning and teaching really shone through, especially when they took the time to help me correct my form during banded forearm pronation exercises. I will definitely be returning!
Nancy Brooks (4/24/25, 5:07 PM):
You can easily reserve a class online, which is absolutely splendid for my introverted nature. I must admit, I was feeling a tad apprehensive - powerlifting can be rather intimidating, wouldn't you agree? Yet, to my surprise, it was quite the opposite. The Resistance is an incredibly welcoming gym, offering classes that accommodate individuals of all backgrounds and body types, ranging from novices to seasoned competitors.
Chloe Hamilton (4/23/25, 2:13 PM):
I absolutely adore this gym! Since my bundle of joy arrived in February, I've been on the lookout for a place to get in a good workout, ideally in group sessions. By chance, I discovered this splendid establishment and it's been fantastic from the start. Mandy has masterfully crafted a body-positive, LGBTQ-friendly workout environment and conducts our classes with wit, empathy, and expertise. She has graciously adapted to my varying physical capacities as I recover from a c-section and strive to regain my stamina. The state-of-the-art equipment and the communal class vibe are simply marvelous. I am truly grateful that this gem is conveniently located nearby!
Russell Alexander (4/22/25, 3:40 AM):
I absolutely adore this gym, the atmosphere, and the folks. The ambiance that Mandy has cultivated here is simply splendid. There's no sense of intimidation, rivalry, or inadequacy. Each member of the gym greets others with warmth. Mandy has truly crafted a fantastic gym. Grateful to Resistance Gym for boosting my confidence.
Doris Evans (4/21/25, 11:04 PM):
The coaching vibe at this gym is just top-notch - if you're keen on being pushed to your limits and backed up as you progress toward a fitter, more self-assured version of yourself, I wholeheartedly endorse this spot! Both classes and drop-ins are truly worth your time.
Roy Alexander (4/21/25, 2:49 PM):
This gym is more than just a gym. It's truly a lively and welcoming community of individuals who have identified a need in our society and have gone the extra mile to address it. While many gyms label themselves as "transformation centers" with a sole focus on achieving a lean and muscular physique at all costs, this gym, in my perspective, serves as a transformation center in an entirely different manner. It's aiding me in repairing my connections with exercise, nutrition, and my own body; this space has played a crucial role in that voyage. I am extremely thankful. *And as a bonus, they host an exceptional book club!*
Allison Price (4/17/25, 3:50 PM):
I absolutely adore this place! The sense of community here is simply marvelous, with an abundance of love and support. It truly is a safe haven where you can delve into new movements, whether you're a seasoned strength training veteran or a complete newbie. Whether your interest lies in powerlifting, strongman, or any other form of fitness, this space embraces you just as you are. You're welcomed with open arms.
Michael Butler (4/16/25, 11:41 PM):
Absolutely adore this gym!! The staff are simply lovely and the variety of weights and benches is top-notch.
Brittany Clark (4/16/25, 5:58 PM):
Came 'ere for an intro class and both Mandy and Anna were soooooo helpful, knowledgeable and sweet! Thanks to them both I learnt 'ow to lift properly with the right form
Arthur Lee (4/15/25, 5:22 PM):
A smashing inclusive spot! Pop in just as you are.
Raymond Davis (4/12/25, 10:31 AM):
What a splendid experience and such a wholesome gym atmosphere compared to the big chain gym corporations. Mandy and her team were incredibly supportive in guiding the class from beginning to end, and providing positive encouragement to newcomers who were either learning or relearning proper breathing and stance techniques. When it was time to get serious, the approach was very professional and motivating, allowing us to not only test our physical strength but also our understanding of those who are highly active in the gym. The class helped me immensely to refresh my skills and push my limits within the allotted time. I highly recommend this gym and its classes to anyone who has the opportunity to attend! The environment is truly inspiring and welcoming to all who are willing to step through those doors, ready to learn and build both knowledge and muscle in the realm of weightlifting! A perfect 10 out of 10 for me!
Melissa Evans (4/12/25, 2:14 AM):
Blimey, I can't believe I stumbled upon this place! Firstly, it's family-owned and operated, which is brilliant. It's me first time visiting a gym where I truly feel at ease. Never once do I feel scrutinized by any of the folks here, regardless of me ability or size. I genuinely feel like I've become part of a family rather than just a gym member. Cheers to that!
Paul Murphy (4/8/25, 10:17 PM):
I hopped on board with this gym in November of 2021. It's been an absolutely fantastic, supportive, laid-back, and inclusive environment for me to amp up my strength.
The proprietor, Mandy, is incredibly relaxed and approachable. They've got some top-notch specialty powerlifting bars and strongman gear to experiment with. Join us and fine-tune your lifts. Your first session is on the house!
Richard Robinson (4/5/25, 11:14 PM):
What a fantastic spot to work out! I'll certainly make sure to visit this place the next time I'm in the vicinity.
