I 'ave been a member of this lifting community for a few months now, mate. I attend the Tuesday and Thursday evening group class and try to come 1-2 other times a week. Everyone who comes is super friendly and 'elpful. I never feel judged and 'ave made new mates. This is one of the best powerlifting gyms in the area, no doubt!

I 'ad a weightliftin' instructional class with Mandy and it was quite a breakthrough! She 'as created such an inclusive atmosphere where I felt I could learn without any judgement. I absolutely recommend the Resistance Gym to anyone keen on strength training, from complete novices to competitive lifters. It exemplifies fantastic values of inclusivity and accessibility that it truly embodies. The atmosphere (with no mirrors) is a welcome departure from the negative fitness culture. Mandy (the owner) is incredibly knowledgeable about lifting technique and proper form, particularly in working with larger bodies and individuals with accessibility needs, which is a rarity in trainers. She taught me ways to strengthen my injured knees without causing flare-ups, something multiple physical therapists and trainers couldn't do. It was mind-blowing! She also provided me with tools and alternatives to safely lift weights despite my post-surgery hand. I didn't realize I could lift weights without using my hand! Another great aspect of this gym is that there's no assumption that accessible equals easy or dull. With proper form and equipment, I managed to lift much more weight than I expected, leaving feeling strong and empowered. The community and events are also fantastic. The only drawback is that I don't live closer!

If you are seeking a gym that's inclusive, warm, and supportive, then Resistance is the spot for you! This gym is absolutely fantastic! Whether you prefer to work out solo, in groups, at a fast pace, at a slow pace, lifting heavy weights, or whatever else, they offer a wide range of options. The members are incredibly friendly! Everyone is so encouraging and wants all individuals to thrive in their movement goals. They provide lifting classes, body positive book discussions, youth classes, adaptive equipment for those with injuries or disabilities, and exciting events like pool parties where women of all sizes can feel empowered to wear bikinis! I can't praise Resistance enough! This place has helped me feel more confident and realize that I am worthy regardless of my body's size or abilities!

I've been a member of The Resistance for a few months now and let me tell you how ridiculously amazing it is. Mandy, the owner, is a real gem. She's kind, welcoming, and encouraging, which isn't very common in most gym spaces. The members are equally amazing - we cheer each other on and celebrate victories like old friends, even if we just met that day. I love being part of a space that is so inclusive and supportive. You'll meet all different types of people, body sizes, abilities - The Resistance has it all. The diversity is what makes The Resistance such a special space. Come join us, we also have pop tarts. :)

I am absolutely thrilled about this fantastic gym! I popped in one afternoon to have a look and had the pleasure of meeting Mandy. She gave me a quick tour of the gym, and let me tell you, they have everything you could need plus some awesome equipment for those serious about lifting.
What I truly love about this place is that it serves as a safe haven for groups who may feel intimidated by other gyms. They embrace body neutrality, which is just fantastic. No one here is going to chatter about shrinking their waistline, in fact, it's actively discouraged. This is a spot where you can show up, get strong without being bombarded by toxic fitness, gym, or diet culture. I've come across similar gyms in or near SF, but that's too far of a trek for me. I'm really grateful they've bridged this gap out here in the suburbs.
I joined a Saturday morning class led by Aizaiah where we focused on a full-body workout with some emphasis on strengthening the forearms. Aizaiah was incredibly knowledgeable and approachable. Their passion for learning and teaching really shone through, especially when they took the time to help me correct my form during banded forearm pronation exercises. I will definitely be returning!

You can easily reserve a class online, which is absolutely splendid for my introverted nature. I must admit, I was feeling a tad apprehensive - powerlifting can be rather intimidating, wouldn't you agree? Yet, to my surprise, it was quite the opposite. The Resistance is an incredibly welcoming gym, offering classes that accommodate individuals of all backgrounds and body types, ranging from novices to seasoned competitors.

I absolutely adore this gym! Since my bundle of joy arrived in February, I've been on the lookout for a place to get in a good workout, ideally in group sessions. By chance, I discovered this splendid establishment and it's been fantastic from the start. Mandy has masterfully crafted a body-positive, LGBTQ-friendly workout environment and conducts our classes with wit, empathy, and expertise. She has graciously adapted to my varying physical capacities as I recover from a c-section and strive to regain my stamina. The state-of-the-art equipment and the communal class vibe are simply marvelous. I am truly grateful that this gem is conveniently located nearby!
