Ryan Reed (5/16/25, 11:46 PM):
I paid a visit to several LA Fitness locations in Portland, including the ones at Pearl, Lloyd, 82nd & Gresham. Out of all of them, the Hillsboro branch stood out to me for its expansive and exclusive personal training suite. It's quite impressive - though I didn't get a chance to use it myself, it's like a gym within the gym, hidden behind closed doors.

As for the main gym area, it's not as spacious as some of the other locations. During my visit on leg day, I noticed they have 3 Smith machines, a cage, and 2 squat racks. They offer the usual machines you'd find in other LAF branches for leg workouts, like leg extension, leg curl, Glute kickback, and ab machines. However, they lack a GHD machine and space for floor exercises, which is common in most clubs. People usually use the multipurpose room for those activities. I was surprised to see hanging boxing bags in the multipurpose room, a feature I've only seen at the Pearl location.

The crowd and staff were diverse and respectful. This location is one of the cleaner ones, with opportunities for socializing.

They don't have a smoothie or shake bar, but they do offer vending machines with healthy options on-site.
