I popped into BB on a weekday evening to have a look-see. The gym was buzzing with energetic young folks, the sound of clinking weights, and lots of cheering. I observed for a bit. Then, this impressive, powerful lady positioned herself beneath a massive barbell on a rack, lifted it onto her shoulders, and proceeded to drop into a deep squat! I felt so proud of her - I was almost moved to tears. However, I must admit that these individuals were not like me – I was a 66-year-old woman recovering from a serious leg injury, wondering if I would ever walk normally again. Two years ago, I decided to start personal training twice a week. Initially, I trained with Meghan and later on with Chris. The training has been top-notch – I gained the mobility and strength I was aiming for without any injuries, which can be a concern at my age with less experienced trainers. I've also had sessions with other BB trainers occasionally, and they have all been exceptional. The atmosphere at the gym is inspiring and supportive, regardless of where you are in your fitness journey, whether you're a fragile retiree or a powerlifting pro.
I arrived at Boston Barbell in June with no previous workout experience. Boston Barbell is my first gym, and John is my first coach. John has been educating me from the basics, and he's very professional and patient. I can see my improvements quickly, which motivates me to get even stronger. The atmosphere here is great, I've made lots of cool friends, and we even play soccer together. John, if you're reading this, I'm always joking that you're torturing me, but you really are a top-notch coach.

I began my powerlifting journey at Boston Barbell in August under the guidance of coaches John and Emma. The camaraderie and energy at the gym have been absolutely fantastic, and in just over a month I’ve already seen significant progress. I’m eager to keep pushing forward.
Additionally, I've incorporated regular sessions with Ana, the massage therapist, into my routine. I can't thank her enough for the vital role she plays in aiding my recovery. She truly is exceptional!
Very customer-oriented. John was incredibly informative and welcoming, even though I was visiting from out of town and in need of a good workout while in the area. He and his team were very warm and accommodating.
The facility is compact but has everything you need for a great workout. It's not exactly an open gym; instead, they offer focused group coaching at different times of the day for various goals and programs. However, members have 24-hour access to do individual workouts outside of the group sessions. Although they don't offer day or weekly passes, John made sure I could still work out while I was traveling. I'm thankful for that. Overall, it's a fantastic setup with a great atmosphere throughout the whole experience.
I 'ave been goin' to Boston Barbell for ~7 months after a referral from a mate. After I turned 50, I was always sufferin' from aches and pains. Chris is an incredible trainer and explains the physiology of everythin' in 'is program. Even though there are world class powerlifters in there, the culture of the gym is very welcomin'. Best of all, I feel better and stronger than I have in 20 years. Such a great experience. I’m goin' to bring my teenage sons in this summer.
I've been frequenting Boston Barbell for nearly a year now, top-notch gym with splendid trainers. My chap John has really honed my technique and boosted my power significantly, over the moon with the progress I've made since I signed up.
Boston Barbell be the best gym I've ever visited. The coaches be always willing to assist everyone, makin' a real difference in this gym compared to others. I've gained more knowledge in a few weeks than years of solo workouts. It be great for both beginners and advanced athletes. The gym be equipped with everything I require.
Outstanding Training Experience with Victoria at Boston Barbell!
My husband and I began our training sessions with Victoria at Boston Barbell back in March, and right from the get-go, she really stood out as a highly skilled and knowledgeable trainer. Come the end of May, I discovered I was expecting and had initial concerns about continuing my workouts throughout my pregnancy. However, Victoria swiftly put my worries to rest.
Her expertise in prenatal fitness shone through from the very beginning. She carefully tailored my workouts to accommodate my pregnancy requirements, ensuring both safety and effectiveness. Thanks to her guidance and encouragement, I was able to remain active and feel self-assured in my fitness journey right up until the beginning of my 8th month.
Victoria's supportive and professional approach has truly made a significant impact on me during this special time, and I am eagerly anticipating resuming our sessions post my postpartum recovery. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone in search of a trainer who genuinely cares and comprehends individual needs.

I visited Boston Barbell for the first time in April. Right from the beginning, Chris was truly welcoming, informative, and helped me kick off my fitness journey. Having never received formal gym training before, all the trainers ensured I felt at ease. I underwent a couple of months of personal training with Victoria, who was astounding in preparing me for group classes. Subsequently, I participated in group classes led by John and Brian and once more, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I relished working out. The strong sense of community, top-notch facilities, excellent workout routines, respectful ambiance, and exceptional trainers elevate Boston Barbell beyond being simply a gym.
The folks at Boston Barbell are always going the extra mile to assist you. It's a warm and inviting atmosphere for everyone. The staff is knowledgeable and professional, truly top-notch!

Strength isn’t just for power lifters, at Boston Barbell I’m a part of a community of strength, resilience, and care. After meeting Chris Martin and joining Boston Barbell, my son came to me and said “mom you have to try it.” At 50, living with multiple sclerosis, I didn’t imagine that a weightlifting experience would be for me. I listened to my son and gave it a try, and I am so glad I did. Yes, I am getting stronger and more fit, but I also have discovered a community of people who value health and fitness and genuinely care and support everyone, regardless of how heavy you lift. If you’re reading reviews, you may be wondering, is Boston Barbell for you? I would say yes, but don’t trust me, just come in and give it a try!
I reckon my decision to switch from yoga to powerlifting says a lot about the gym and the trainers. Ashlyn is brilliant - she's so friendly yet pushes you to your limits. She snagged the 2023 MA powerlifting title, and her coaching zeroes in on those techniques that are crucial for preventing injuries and seeing gains over time. Hitting the gym has definitely been the highpoint of my week!
I ' ave been regularly visiting Boston Barbell for 8 months now, which is the longest relationship with a gym I ' ave ever ' ad. What started as a casual interest in learning to strengthen meself as an aging millennial ' as become some of me most looked-forward-to hours of the week.
I ' ave 'ad such a phenomenal experience with all the coaches, from Victoria who welcomed me in and gave me great 1:1 training, to Ashlyn who deftly kicks me bum several times a week and delivers great results, to John and Chris who provide a seamless combo of expert coaching and entertaining anecdotes.
I ' ave also found the community to be an enormous component of the experience 'ere. I didn't expect coming in to be doing much beyond lifting, but the laughs, the encouragement, and the bonding that comes from being in the gym together 'as been an amazing boon to me fitness commitment. While I don't yet ' ave any dreams of being a competitive power lifter like some of the wildly impressive folks at the gym, I ' ave been massively supported in me own goals and abilities, and I ' ave progressed more than I ever expected. Plus 'ow cool is it to 'ave someone who lifts 300 pounds turn around and enthusiastically cheer on someone who's lifting 40? Go to this gym, you won't regret it.

Had the pleasure of meeting Brooke and Chris, two coaches who were not only super friendly but also seriously knowledgeable. Even though I don't live nearby, if I ever move back, joining this gym would be high on my list. Definitely worth checking out!
