This establishment and the individuals are absolutely splendid! They offer a wide array of exercise equipment and a plethora of classes, including some you never even knew you desired! The staff is incredibly kind and welcoming, from Blanche, who gives you a thorough tour and is familiar with many regulars by name, to the instructors (big thanks to Erin and Michelle) who adapt exercises for you and provide gentle encouragement. The fellow patrons are also quite amicable. It truly is a delightful experience. I am eagerly anticipating spending more time there; it is an absolute joy.

The gym equipment is shocking, it requires upgrades such as plate-loaded machines, an incline machine press, and much more. Additionally, there are some rather cantankerous elderly individuals.

If you're after a warm reception and being treated like a valued individual, don't bother wasting your money or time here. The staff exhibit a lackadaisical approach to customer service and resolving issues. Members can easily slip through the cracks and there's no concern shown. Any problems I've raised during my six months here remain unresolved. The staff I've interacted with have never proven helpful or taken responsibility. The facility is consistently in disarray - dirty floors, walls, and machines abound. The locker rooms are even worse - littered with towels, food remnants stuck to the floor, rusty, malodorous lockers, showers that leak and are clogged and covered in graffiti. It's not uncommon to see people napping on the lobby couches. The hygiene standards at this establishment have remained consistently poor. This branch also adheres more to unwritten rules than official ones, as they lack a higher corporate entity to answer to. I used to cherish my time at the YMCA as a child, but as an adult, it's been far from welcoming. I have not felt valued since joining. I will be terminating my membership and seeking a new gym, and I suggest you do the same.

I had a dreadful experience - my grievances are directed towards the unfriendly and unhelpful front desk staff and inadequate management. The situation arose when my daughter was participating in a swimming competition at this particular location during a scorching summer day. I was required to show my driver's license to access the restroom near the front desk, which was attended by middle-aged women, without entering through the gate. Their attitude was extremely arrogant and belittling. I would not recommend this location to anyone under any circumstances!!! They insisted on no license, no restroom.
Update- Misrepresentation of policies and ID requirements; while I was asked for my driver's license, numerous individuals were able to enter the location without being stopped or questioned. Interestingly, there is a restroom by the swimming pool area, where I did not observe any staff members from the organization supervising or verifying the ages of visitors under 18 or requesting driver's licenses. Is there more deceit at play here!?

Why not choose the Y? As a struggling single mom of three kids, I have lost faith in an organization that was originally supposed to be family-oriented. After initially giving me a 30% discount on my membership fees, they sent me a letter last month informing me that they were increasing my rates. As if paying over $1200 a year wasn't already a lot for me. When I explained that the new fees were simply not affordable for me and my kids, they just smiled and handed me a cancellation form. This may not be my situation forever, but in a time of need, they let me down. There are plenty of other fantastic gyms out there that are much more affordable and offer a more personal touch.

There ain't no changin' tables in them family changin' rooms. When my hubby and I take our 20 month old daughter to them parent child swim lessons, we've found it easier to change her on the pool deck 'cause of this. Today one of the life guards told us we can't change her on the deck 'cause it's against YMCA policy. I went online to look at the policy and did not see anything about this. Although we are only half way through the lessons, we aren't inclined to come back. We've found it to be basically an open swim time since the instructor doesn't say anything to the class. The instructor is completely silent during the whole class sessions. Parents are responsible for teachin' their kids on their own.
The instructor never told us her name. Today she had someone presumably shadowin' her. They were busy talkin' about the pay difference between life guardin' and teachin'. They never said a word to the class. Very odd situation.

I absolutely adore this spot for my workouts and martial arts classes, but every now and then, a few members of the staff come across as a tad assertive. Nevertheless, it's a fantastic place overall.

It's quite frustrating trying to make a reservation for the kid pool at the West Boise YMCA. Every time I attempt to book online, their reservation system is the most unfriendly system I've ever encountered. Even though I created an account and added my husband as a family member, when I try to add our granddaughter as a guest, it only allows me to book for myself online. After trying various methods and still encountering issues, I attempted to call to add my husband and grandbaby. When I finally reached someone on the phone yesterday, the person informed me that they couldn't add my husband and grandbaby and advised me to call back today. Firstly, it took about three calls just to get through, and then I was transferred to a voicemail. I had to call again today, and after around five attempts with it automatically going to voicemail, it appears there's no way for me to add my husband or grandbaby for the kid pool. It's truly frustrating and disheartening to spend so much time simply trying to go to the kid pool tonight.

Great gym, but ever since they restricted access for individuals under 15, I know many young people like myself and several others who have canceled their memberships because of this. Fitness shouldn't be limited to individuals aged 15 and above; some people can't go with their parents.

Everything is grimy and in disrepair. It's overcrowded with children. The employees don't supervise anything whatsoever. This establishment seems to cater to parents who simply want to drop off their children and forget about them for a couple of hours. The cost for this facility is exorbitant, except when compared to daycare, in which case it's relatively reasonable. If you're an adult seeking a gym, I'd steer clear. However, if you're a parent in need of affordable child care, perhaps it's worth exploring.

This website requires a bit more time to adjust to the gradual reopening amidst the pandemic. They have current procedures in place that put customers at risk of being scolded by stressed employees. I would recommend giving them an additional two or three months before considering testing the waters.
