Feels like a spa. Fantastic gym. Conveniently located with plenty of parking.
Charlotte Edwards (6/5/25, 11:10 PM):
Often running low on towels, antiquated facilities, mold on the women's bathroom tiles, the so-called "renovation" only includes swapping out the bathroom stall doors, charged for parking after 3 hours, unclean, lacking in proper hygiene/sanitary measures at the club. Completely unacceptable considering the membership fees we shell out. It's advisable to consider joining a different gym.
Margaret King (6/5/25, 3:16 AM):
I 'ave been reachin' out to this club fer months to discuss cancellation or a pause on me account. I 'ave called and left several messages but never got a call back. Finally, via email, Linda responds weeks after I sent 'er a couple emails askin' 'er to please give me a call to discuss me options, but she never called me. Instead, she sent me an email agreein' that me cancellation date would be on December 10th. However, today, on January 20th, I just saw that they charged me again!
I supported this club all through Covid, even when they were shut down completely. I 'ave been 'avin' personal trainin' sessions there for years, and for the staff not to even be able to call me back is extremely poor customer service. It just shows 'ow they value their supportin' customers. I am beyond disappointed with the Bay Club and the staff!
Christina Flores (6/2/25, 2:32 AM):
It's quite a fancy club, I must say, but every time they spruce it up a bit, whether it's a major overhaul or just a touch-up, the membership fees shoot up! Also, sometimes it gets really crowded, especially in the summer with the little ones running about. It almost feels like a nursery at times, with kids darting around from the ladies' changing rooms to the pools. And it can get a bit rowdy, too - some members aren't too polite when you try to point out their children's misbehavior.
Another issue is that the club is right next to a hotel, and the guests there aren't always clued in on the rules. It's tough to keep a close eye on things, particularly in the hot tub and recreational areas. You'll have youngsters splashing about where they shouldn't be, or adults having a gabfest, or even folks going into the steam room fully clothed! It's not exactly a relaxing vibe, you know?
There are rules in place, sure, but they're not always enforced rigorously. The club really ought to focus more on quality rather than sheer quantity. Oh, and just so you know, I've raised these concerns with the Bay Club staff on occasion.
John Howard (6/1/25, 10:59 AM):
My hubby and I recently joined this club and we're absolutely chuffed! It's top-notch and then some. They've got a cracking selection of fitness gear, outdoor pools, spa facilities inside and out, swimming lessons, yoga classes, fitness sessions, a recovery area, sauna, and steam room (my personal fave). The changing rooms are spot on, towels always stocked up, and the staff are just lovely and dead helpful. Honestly, there's so much to shout about! Dead pleased we became members.
Catherine Robinson (6/1/25, 12:15 AM):
I wouldn't recommend joining this club at all. The management comes across as rather snobbish and conceited, not to mention the place is quite dirty. You'd probably have a better experience at a 24-hour fitness center instead of here.
David Kim (5/30/25, 9:29 PM):
What a jolly good experience! The amenities were simply smashing. The services were absolutely FABULOUS!
Riley Young (5/28/25, 9:12 AM):
It was just as I expected, and the weather was absolutely brilliant, making my stay truly worth it.
Martha Cox (5/28/25, 7:42 AM):
My mate and I strolled out of the bay club and opted to head back into the sauna. Two employees were at the front desk and clearly saw us leave just a minute ago. One of the staff members abruptly instructed us to check in, asserting she didn't notice us exit, while her colleague mentioned it was okay as we had just left. Her demeanor was quite troubling, lacking in pleasantries or gratitude. Upon informing her that we had indeed just walked out, with her own colleague backing us up, she simply retorted, "I don't care, check in." This type of customer service is subpar considering the fees I pay for this gym membership. I am willing to retract this review if the said staff member's attitude is addressed and rectified.
Edward James (5/27/25, 12:09 PM):
The gym is well equipped, everyone was tidying up after themselves, it's in a handy location, there's a hot tub, and so on.
Margaret Morgan (5/26/25, 1:27 PM):
Top gym in the whole wide world
Tyler Ramirez (5/25/25, 3:04 AM):
On the whole, quite the letdown.
The gym is dated, and poorly kept. The youth center is consistently packed with no space available. The customer service is ATROCIOUS. Never have we encountered someone as impolite as the membership director, who questioned why I visited the office after 16 days of silence regarding a request. Additional fees are tacked on without prior notice. Definitely cannot recommend.
Gabriel Cox (5/24/25, 9:05 AM):
Thou sporty abode ist mine joyful sanctuary! I doth frequent this fine establishment a minimum of 5 times per week. I dost hold great admiration for the stellar Bay Club amenities, staff, and fellow members. The newly revamped studios art truly divine, even more so are the newly restored locker rooms. All is of utmost quality. I doth arrive early to partake in complimentary Peet's coffee with comrades, in the exquisitely furnished lounge area. The folk art so genial, and I hath forged splendid new bonds with individuals of all ages and backgrounds. The instructors art superb, and the equipment is perpetually in impeccable condition. The fresh equipment (and massage chairs) art truly splendid. A special acknowledgement to Porfi, who doth maintain the realm exquisitely, always with a grin and word of welcome! I would heartily recommend this haven to all. My kin from afar did lodge in the inn last month, and they did sing praises of the gym! Five ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+
Sandra Miller (5/23/25, 8:36 PM):
The shower room is a bit dodgy, innit? Rather antiquated, quite pongy, and rather grimy. Half the time, a good chunk of 'em are out of order. They just spruced up the training gear, but I reckon they should sort out the basics too. On the bright side, our personal trainer is proper brilliant.
Samuel Carter (5/23/25, 7:22 PM):
I be hesitant to scribble this a couple of moons ago thinkin' PERHAPS my encounter with the director were her just havin' an off day, but seemingly not given others' comments. Because they don't pick up phone calls anymore, you're nudged to drop an email through the app with any and all questions or concerns. I had a query about my membership, and I wanted to voice concerns about behaviors in the sauna area, which be supposed to be a quiet area, by women who didn't show basic respect to others (for example: havin' loud chats, talkin' on their cell phone, even clippin' toenails and brushin' off dry skin on the chez lounge by the hot tub). I received the automated notice that someone would get back in 48 hours followin' my emails, but then two weeks went by and nothin'. So I went into the office and waited till I could get five minutes with the director. I explained the situation and that it be frustratin' that I hadn't yet received a reply. She said, "The person who answers the emails has been out sick." I said someone else should have replied then, or at the very least let us know that our messages would be answered when she returned. Her reply were, "With Covid, you really need to be more patient." I be so tired of service industries blamin' any poor service on Covid still!
At $200/month membership fee I didn't feel my expectations were at all out of line! Regardless of my monthly fee, members should be shown common courtesy. Send out another automated email apologizin' for the delay if you're under-staffed.
She answered my membership question and then told me I should raise my other issues about the sauna area with the owner. She's the director - I don't want to chase down the owner with my suggestion that they replace their long list of rules that no one reads with a simple sign that clearly states the sauna be a no-talk and no-phone area. I do enjoy the exercise areas and classes, but there be definitely room for improvement in service! Not sure how much longer I'll stay a member.
Brenda Hamilton (5/23/25, 6:26 PM):
The gym is lovely, but the app makes the experience dreadful. There are numerous glitches in the app to the point where it won't even let you log in. How can you register for classes if you can't sign into the app? You can't. It's incredibly frustrating, and it's a pity that something so easily fixable is tarnishing the experience of being a member. PLEASE RECTIFY THE APP IMMEDIATELY.
Grace Gonzalez (5/23/25, 2:32 PM):
Top-notch gym in the East Bay, no doubt about it. You truly get what you pay for.
Anna Rodriguez (5/22/25, 8:31 AM):
I've been frequenting this sports club for approximately a year now. Absolutely love it! The ambiance is fantastic, the facilities are well-maintained, there's a wide variety of machines to choose from, and it was recently renovated. Highly recommended!
Roger Richardson (5/21/25, 12:56 AM):
I joined this place because of what seemed like amazing amenities and childcare, but it turned out to be a complete nightmare. The childcare experience was horrible. They mixed my little one, who could barely walk at the time, with older kids running around. I was worried he might get stepped on. The drop off codes didn't work for the first 2 weeks, which was very frustrating. This club is probably more suited for older kids who are more independent.
Regarding the gym, I was charged for a class package without my consent when all I was doing was inquiring about prices. They also failed to mention that the package had to be used within the month or it would expire. Despite numerous attempts and discussions with Joey and corporate, I never received a refund for it.
Nicole Perry (5/16/25, 2:14 AM):
Lovely bunch of staff with loads of amenities. Can't wait for the upcoming facility updates!
