Welcome to Greenbelt Aquatic and Fitness Center

The Greenbelt Aquatic and Fitness Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, is a beloved community resource where families can enjoy both fitness and relaxation. With an indoor pool that boasts warm water, spacious hot tubs, and friendly staff, this center truly stands out as a go-to destination for locals and visitors alike.

Accessibility Features

One of the key highlights of the Greenbelt Aquatic Center is its commitment to accessibility. The facility offers a wheelchair-accessible entrance, ensuring that individuals with mobility challenges can enjoy all the amenities without barriers. Additionally, there is a wheelchair-accessible car park available, making it easier for everyone to access the center conveniently.

What Do Visitors Think?

Feedback from guests reveals a mixed experience. Many appreciate the relaxing atmosphere and cleanliness of the facilities. Comments such as, “The indoor pool water is warm,” and “The hot tub is my favorite,” indicate a strong positive sentiment about the environment and amenities. Families find the indoor pool particularly enjoyable, especially with features like a ramp for easy access for young children and those needing assistance. However, some visitors have raised concerns regarding customer service. Instances of rude behavior at the front desk have been noted, leading to disappointing experiences for potential members. A guest shared, “The caucasian woman with dreadlocks at the front desk is extremely rude & has a bad attitude,” which may detract from the otherwise welcoming environment.

The Importance of Community

Greenbelt Aquatic and Fitness Center serves as not only a fitness venue but also a community hub. It provides programs for swim lessons, although recent critiques have pointed out issues with fairness in non-resident registration. Customers expressed frustration over limited availability for non-residents, labeling the process “a joke.” This highlights the need for improved transparency in the registration process to serve everyone fairly.

Family-Friendly Environment

For families, the center is a treasure trove of fun and fitness options. Visitors have remarked on the spaciousness of the indoor and outdoor pools, noting that the lifeguards are attentive and ensure safety at all times. One patron mentioned, “I like the wall in the middle to separate the deep end and 3 ft and under,” making it safer for younger swimmers to enjoy the water. Moreover, patrons have praised the convenience of having vending machines onsite for snacks and drinks, further catering to families spending the day at the facility.

Conclusion

In summary, the Greenbelt Aquatic and Fitness Center is a fantastic choice for those seeking a blend of fitness and family fun. While they excel in areas such as warm pools, accessibility, and friendly staff—there are certainly aspects that require attention, such as customer service and registration processes for non-residents. Overall, it remains a valuable community resource for relaxation and health, ideal for both residents and visitors in Greenbelt, Maryland.

I stroll at Fairlands nearly every day and I observe young children under the age of 12 in camps without masks, enjoying themselves on the playground. It is high time to halt these activities, as many young children are contracting COVID and needing hospitalization. The well-being of these children, who are unable to receive the vaccine at this moment, should take precedence over financial considerations. I urge the county to take action and prioritize the safety of residents in the community.

The Aquatic Centre is a jolly good spot for a swim, but blimey, the prices for non-residents are becoming a tad steep, don't you think?
Carolyn Hughes (4/25/25, 12:29 PM):
I went to the Aquatic Centre with my dad, and they asked me if I was a Greenbelt resident. I replied that I am not a Greenbelt resident, and they apologized, saying they couldn't allow me in because of that. It was disappointing not being able to access the facilities just because I'm not a Greenbelt resident.
Katherine White (4/23/25, 8:09 AM):
The lady with dreadlocks at the front desk is a bit rude and has a terrible attitude. When I walked in, she was scolding a fellow colleague in front of me, completely ignoring my presence for a good 2-3 minutes. The pool is fairly clean, but the hot tub definitely needs a thorough scrubbing as you can visibly see dirt and grime all around. The water in the hot tub is also slightly discolored, with a hint of brown. I was thinking about joining as a member before my initial visit, but sadly, that would be my one and only time there.
