Customer Feedback: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Member experiences at Equinox Bethesda vary widely. Many appreciate the cleanliness and the friendly staff, while others have noted a "mean girl" culture in classes and pushy sales tactics during membership sign-up. Recent management changes have reportedly improved cleanliness and member interactions, hinting at an evolving gym culture. In conclusion, Equinox Bethesda presents a compelling option for anyone seeking a premium gym experience, combining luxury amenities with dedicated staff. However, potential members should weigh the pros and cons and consider visiting to gauge if this is the right fit for their fitness journey.

Amelia Cooper (6/12/25, 5:25 PM):
Upon visiting Equinox, I had the pleasure of being assisted by Jessica who provided me with an outstanding experience. She truly went the extra mile to cater to all my needs. The gym facilities were top-notch and the level of service was unmatched. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this club (especially Jessica!) to all my acquaintances. A perfect 10/10 rating from me!
Scott Howard (6/12/25, 2:15 PM):
I've been a member of this gym since 2021 and I must say, I've thoroughly enjoyed every facility, staff member, and fitness class offered. The value for money is truly exceptional. However, it's quite disappointing to observe a culture of negativity, particularly in the group yoga sessions of all places! Can you believe it? Mean Yogis seem to be a real phenomenon here in Bethesda. Management really needs to step up and address this issue promptly. It's high time a code of conduct was introduced in the mind-body studio.
Megan Butler (6/6/25, 9:28 PM):
The facility and training ain't too shabby, but their dodgy business dealings upon departure are downright unacceptable. Make sure you nail down a signed 60-day termination notice, snap a pic of it for safekeeping on your phone, and settle up with a credit card that's got your back on disputing any fishy fees.
Bobby Gomez (6/5/25, 6:52 AM):
Ah, mate, let me tell you about the Equinox in Bethesda, it is absolutely brilliant! The facilities are top-notch, the staff are ever so friendly, and they offer a wide range of classes all day long. If you're keen on getting fit, you've got to check out Matt Gianitsos. The bloke is an absolute legend, he's helped me smash my fitness targets. He's got a wealth of knowledge, and he's just so caring and supportive. Matt is the real deal! Big shoutout to Equinox for providing such an amazing experience.
Keith Gonzales (6/5/25, 5:39 AM):
I've been a member at this gym for a whole year now, and I must say I am absolutely thrilled with how immaculate the club and locker rooms are. The spacious showers stocked with luxurious Kiehl's products are a real treat, and don't even get me started on the fantastic high-intensity interval classes that are always changing to keep things exciting. Highly recommend!
Edward Alexander (6/4/25, 1:37 PM):
As soon as I entered, I was greeted warmly. The atmosphere was inviting and the indoor cycling class was both challenging and enjoyable. All the equipment was spotless. The only downside was the size of the steam room, it's a tad small. This Equinox definitely ranks among the top ones I've visited (and I've been to around 15).
Eugene Cruz (6/3/25, 3:42 AM):
I must say, the classes are top-notch, the steam room is lovely, and there's even a pool. Absolutely adore this place.
Harold Jackson (5/28/25, 7:43 PM):
I wouldn't recommend signing up at this gym unless you enjoy being mocked by the employees and getting stuck in a binding agreement.
Linda Kim (5/28/25, 8:29 AM):
I must say, this gym is top-notch! The service is excellent, the classes are fantastic, and the facilities are spotless. Highly recommended!
Rachel Reyes (5/27/25, 11:15 PM):
Absolutely love this gym! Although it may be on the pricier side compared to other gyms, what truly sets this place apart is the staff. From the managers to the trainers, the facilities, everything is so welcoming and a joy to experience. My boyfriend and I have been regulars at this establishment for about 2.5 years now, and due to our consistent 2-3 workouts per week, we've built great relationships with everyone there. It's almost like we're all one big family! Despite the gym getting crowded between 4-6, there is always ample space to work out, and the trainers are incredibly helpful.
Joseph Hamilton (5/27/25, 4:14 AM):
Management at this gym is the absolute worst I have ever encountered in all my years of being a member at various fitness establishments.
Sara Jordan (5/26/25, 8:00 PM):
I would not recommend this gym at all, as it truly does not meet the standards for the hefty price it demands. Although the classes were decent, the gym itself and its amenities leave much to be desired. Shockingly, they lack proper water fountains that are frequently out of order. How can an establishment like Equinox fall short in such a basic necessity? Moreover, the customer service is severely lacking. They bombard you with attention during the sign-up process, but good luck getting any assistance afterwards. I made numerous attempts to schedule a Pilates session, each time being assured that someone would contact me promptly, yet I never received a call back. There are better options available in the vicinity, I suggest exploring all alternatives before settling on this one.
Christine Edwards (5/21/25, 12:27 AM):
I’ve been a member for around a month now and I must say, I’m absolutely chuffed with my experience.

The blokes and birds working here and the other members have all been proper courteous and friendly. Every now and then, they’ve even popped over for a natter about what I’ve been up to. My membership advisor has reached out a few times to make sure everything is going swimmingly and has been ever so helpful in sorting me out with extra spin classes. They’ve even gone the extra mile to drop me an email and congratulate me on being “hardcore” (quite a laugh, that) after a particularly active week.

I’m not into weights or machines at the moment, but I’ve never seen the main floor so busy that I couldn’t do a circuit.

My main focus—and the main reason I joined—is the classes. The instructors are top-notch, but especially: Dave Slikker (Studio Cycling), Jessica Lang (ANTHEM & Cycle Beats), and Susan Hanan (Alignment Flow Yoga) have made it 100% worth the join. If you’re on a trial membership, I highly recommend trying to snag a spot in at least one of their classes—just don’t nab my favorite bike!
Frank Young (5/20/25, 1:29 AM):
Absolutely adore this gym! Impeccably spotless, staff with the warmest of welcomes, and the classes are simply marvelous!
Teresa Anderson (5/19/25, 3:31 PM):
This gym is absolutely top-notch, without a doubt. The equipment is always in excellent condition, the staff has consistently been fantastic (at least in my experience), and the facilities are truly pristine. I've been a member for quite some time now, and I can honestly say that I have no complaints. While the price may seem steep to some, once you consider all that Equinox offers, it's truly worth it. Equinox is a superb company overall. I've had the pleasure of working out at various locations in both the United States and Canada, and I always leave with a smile on my face.

In my opinion, Equinox is the premier high-end gym company out there. If you're serious about your fitness routine, I highly recommend joining any of their locations.
Andrew Stewart (5/19/25, 2:17 PM):
The gym is massive with all the bells and whistles, like eucalyptus towels and a top-notch sauna, and the instructors are mostly seasoned pros.

I previously trained under Susan Hanan at WYC, so it was a pleasant surprise to find her at Equinox as well. Coming from small boutique studios, I initially felt a bit overwhelmed by the size of the gym and its corporate vibe. However, once I started recognizing familiar faces and getting comfortable with certain instructors, it became more enjoyable. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the slightly impersonal and corporate feel of the management. Nonetheless, they are quite receptive to feedback, which is a plus.
Victoria Sanders (5/18/25, 6:04 AM):
I wouldn't recommend visiting this gym if you're short on time in the area. The process to cancel is a complete nightmare. I found myself paying for an extra 2 months after I left for university. The same thing happened to my friend, as we both signed up together. The management is quite poor, but the advisors are typically willing to find a solution. Honestly, the gym itself is excellent, but dealing with management could potentially result in conflicts. As a university student, I ended up paying much more than what was initially promised by the advisor, which really hit hard on my finances. Personally, I switched gyms and now I'm much happier at Lifetime Fitness on Seven Locks. The location is convenient, the equipment is top-notch, and pausing your membership is simple. If you're in the area and can afford it, go for it, but otherwise, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
Gabriel Sanders (5/17/25, 8:21 PM):
It truly feels like a second home, always improving with a strong dedication to Equinox! It's not just a gym, it's a way of life! Dedicate yourself to something greater!
Eric Coleman (5/17/25, 11:37 AM):
The safety measures were top-notch and the cleanliness was impeccable! They offer a wide range of classes and equipment for both individual and group workouts.
Roger Ward (5/15/25, 2:58 PM):
The staff at the gym were quite unwelcoming and unhelpful.
