I've been a member at this gym for more than 3 years, and let me tell you, it's been a fantastic experience. The folks there are all so friendly and helpful, and the facilities are top-notch. Plus, there's plenty of parking space, so no problems there at all. I ended up setting up my own home gym, so I didn't need my membership anymore. Canceling was a breeze - I just filled out the cancellation form on their website, and the very next day, I got an email confirming my cancellation. Easy peasy!
I desired handicap accessible access to the hot tub, so I rang up the Fairview-Boise establishment and was assured that the hot tub is indeed handicap accessible. Approximately 1.5 hours later, I arrived at the location and reiterated to the counter staff that I wished to utilize the hot tub but required handicap accessibility due to my inability to navigate stairs. They confirmed it was possible and mentioned the device was easy to use. After paying, changing into appropriate attire, I discovered that the device was malfunctioning and seemed to have been so for quite some time. Despite my stay in the building lasting less than 25 minutes, the staff declined to refund my fee. Their customer service was absolutely abysmal.
I've been a proud member of Axiom for more than 7 years now. The trainers are absolutely top-notch, and the management is exceptional! As a disabled veteran, I needed a gym that would understand and accommodate my physical limitations while still providing a welcoming environment. The facility is consistently clean, and the staff is always quick to address any inquiries or concerns.
I 'ave neva 'ad issues with any o' the staff 'ere. They've all been friendly an' accommodatin'. Yes there's an annual fee an' it’s in your contract when ya sign up an' when it will be taken out. Pay attention to it. When I 'ad to cancel with Axiom previously due to a change in location, it was a very simple process. Any machines that no longer work, they are quick to get it fixed. My experience with Axiom both times I’ve signed up 'as been a very pleasant experience overall.
The Gym is pretty massive with plenty of equipment. The functional area could be larger, though. When I first started, having a gym bag wasn't an issue. However, a young man recently informed me that gym bags aren't allowed and instructed me to stow it away. It's a gym, gym bags are a fundamental accessory. If you're reading this and wondering what the fuss is about, then this gym and the clientele here are just right for you. Needless to say, I'm canceling my membership and looking elsewhere. It's an easy decision for me. Stay motivated! 💪🏼
Update: The response I received regarding my inquiry about the gym bag prohibition was due to it being a tripping hazard (I've never seen this with other bags, nor have I placed my bag in a walking path that could cause a "tripping hazard"), and for the sake of "cleanliness" (it doesn't take long to notice a lack of cleanliness, especially in the restrooms), and lastly, a fire hazard. Given that the building is approximately 80/20 metal/wood, this reasoning seems far-fetched. When I led a platoon of Marines, I treated them as adults, and they reciprocated that behavior. Platoon sergeants who treated their Marines like children often got childish behavior in return. The prevailing mindset at this global gym seems to be "it is what it is." It's their business, and they can impose bans as they please. 🤔... I should have inquired about using chalk. 🚫
Compared to otha gyms I've had memberships with, this one does a pretty good job, mate. It's very clean and I always see one of the employees movin' around and cleanin' equipment. A few years ago when I first moved to Boise, I joined this gym and then a month later I needed to have some surgery and couldn't work out for almost 8 weeks. They suspended my membership, no problem, and then reinstated it once I was able to get back to it. The staff at Fairview is much friendlier than the other locations. Once I tried buyin' a protein bar after my workout, but they don't sell merchandise after ten and the girl gave me a bar from her personal stash! I tried payin' her, but she wouldn't take my money. The only thing I wish they would change is stay open 'til 11 or so on Saturday, you know what I mean?
Axiom offers a wide range of classes suitable for all ages and skill levels which was crucial for me as a novice. The gym is spacious with a plethora of machines to help you get in shape, and you won't have to wait in line to use them as there are always available even during peak times. Additionally, the instructors are top-notch! I believe this facility is perfect for preparing for summer :)
I absolutely adore all the axioms. They're undoubtedly the finest gyms in town, with splendid rates. The team is amiable and obliging, and the amenities are consistently pristine and impeccably looked after. Furthermore, they offer a rewards scheme and personal coaching. I shall undoubtedly remain a member for as long as I reside in Boise.
Lovely pool and gym, I must say. The locker room is quite spacious and the staff are ever so friendly. There are plenty of machines to choose from, along with some treadmills as well.
Today I went to the gym and encountered a situation. Upon entering, I used my keychain axiom card to scan my entry. The lady working there looked at me and rolled her eyes before asking to see my I.D. Despite being a member of axiom for nearly 8 years, I had left my ID in my car. I showed her what I could at the time by displaying my name and picture on my phone through my FB profile, but she insisted on a physical photo. I went back to my car, retrieved my ID, showed it to her, and finally gained entry.
Interestingly, no one else seemed to be asked for their ID. I frequent other axiom locations without facing such scrutiny. This experience left me feeling racially profiled and unwelcome. I hope the manager addresses this issue to ensure others do not feel as out of place as I did.
The lass with tattoos is a dreadful employee. Utterly rude at the reception desk. Won't be frequenting this establishment again on account of her.
The gym equipment at Axiom is alright, not the best, but alright. However, their business practices are dreadful.
Today when I was at the salon getting my hair done, I was discussing my issues with my gym membership. Three of the stylists all at once said "Axiom." They were familiar with the collection agency (ABC Financial) that Axiom uses and warned me against getting a membership there. It seems that Axiom's poor business practices are well-known in Boise. It's unfortunate that new members like myself have to find out the hard way.
I was disappointed to learn that my boyfriend had a negative experience with Axiom shortly after I joined. Hearing about his experience made me hesitant to return. When I signed up, my card was expiring that month, and the staff told me to bring in my new card or risk losing my membership the following month. I decided not to renew my card as I no longer wanted to be a member, assuming my membership would be automatically canceled like with most places. However, that wasn't the case with Axiom; they continued my membership and sent my dues to collections.
Upon signing up, you pay for your first and last month upfront. I only went to the gym once, and now they're charging me for my "second month" since they kept my membership active. Despite trying to cancel more than 15 days before my supposed third payment, they insisted I come in person to pay again before canceling. I refused to provide them with my new card details given their shady practices. Additionally, they charge an extra ten dollars if you pay in cash.
Only consider a membership at Axiom as a last resort. The equipment and trainers are decent, but be aware that you'd be supporting a business that could harm your credit score if you miss a payment. They won't automatically cancel your membership, and the "first and last month's payment" is simply a tactic to sell you on the package without an initiation fee. Their fees may even end up being higher than those at other gyms. Make sure to read the contract thoroughly before signing, don't let them rush you, and review it with friends and family before making a decision.
Another drawback is the lack of towel service, so if you're a busy traveler who needs to shower at the gym and can't bring your own towel, look for a membership elsewhere.
I 'ave been a member 'ere for years, mate. At first, I absolutely loved this gym as they kept the equipment in top-notch condition, added new classes and gear, and 'ad crackin' trainers! But now, I can't speak on the trainers since I don't train with anyone anymore, but the equipment is desperate need of some repairs pronto. It could do with a good greasin', new upholstery on quite a few bits, fresh hand grips, and what not. And lastly, while the place looks tidy on the surface, I've spotted plenty of dust, 'air, and such clingin' to parts of the gear that most folks wouldn't bother to clean (like under seats, under weight stacks, around the gear)… and this grime 'as clearly been accumulatin' - probably 'asn't been cleaned in weeks.
I used to 'ave a soft spot for Axoim, but since joinin' another gym, I must say I'm a tad disappointed that such a popular gym is lettin' this location slip downhill.
Jessika, the BodyPump instructor, is absolutely fantastic! My daughter and I had just signed up for the gym (literally, 5 minutes prior) and were strolling through the gym checking things out. The BodyPump class had already begun, but she noticed us peering through the window and motioned for us to come in. We joined the class late but had a great time! We're planning to return on Thursday for her 4:30 pm class, and this time we'll make sure to arrive early. :)
This gym is in need of some serious equipment maintenance. Some of the heavier equipment isn't even bolted down and lifts off the ground, posing a major tipping and safety hazard. Most of the equipment also shakes mid-lift as if it's about to break. Additionally, when you walk in, the gym itself is misty. It's as if the steam from the sauna or steam room has crept into the main lifting areas. The removal of the basketball court several months ago was also a huge disappointment.
But perhaps the most frustrating aspect of this membership is the difficulty of canceling. When I inquired at the front desk about canceling my membership (since there's no online option), I was asked for my name and number and told that the GM would call me. I understand the desire for feedback from members, but requiring a call from the GM to cancel is quite extreme. Especially considering the Federal Trade Commission's "click to cancel" rule established in October 2024. Hopefully, they'll sort out a clear and easy click-to-cancel system before the provisions come into effect on May 14th, 2025. You'd think they would adopt it sooner rather than later.
