A Comprehensive Overview of Abrams Physical Fitness Center

The Abrams Physical Fitness Center located in Fort Cavazos, TX, is a well-known facility amongst local fitness enthusiasts. Here, we'll explore the various amenities offered by the gym and what you can expect when you visit.

Amenities That Cater to All Fitness Levels

One of the standout features of Abrams is its spacious basketball court, perfect for those looking to engage in team sports or simply shoot some hoops. Additionally, the center boasts a swimming pool that is highly praised for its cleanliness and maintenance, allowing members to swim year-round. For convenience and comfort, the facility offers showers and generous locker room space, making it easy for gym-goers to freshen up after their workouts. Furthermore, there are two co-ed saunas; just a reminder to bring your shower shoes!

Atmosphere and Accessibility

The overall atmosphere of Abrams is described as friendly and welcoming. Many users appreciate the professional staff who help create a community-oriented environment. The gym is designed with accessibility in mind, with a wheelchair-accessible entrance and car park, ensuring that facilities are available for everyone. However, several comments suggest that certain areas, such as the weight room, might feel cramped during peak hours, which can detract from the overall experience.

Room for Improvement

While the amenities are commendable, some patrons point out that the weight room is relatively small and may lack a comprehensive selection of free weights. With only a few squat racks and limited space for dumbbells, those focused on heavy lifting may find alternatives necessary. Additionally, feedback regarding the basketball court has indicated that maintenance could be more attentive, with concerns over the court's surface condition and overall upkeep. Some users have noted that the court is occasionally repurposed for events like COVID-19 vaccinations, which can affect regular usage.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, the Abrams Physical Fitness Center is an excellent choice for family-friendly fitness, offering diverse amenities such as a swimming pool, saunas, and a basketball court. While improvements could be made to the weight equipment and maintenance routines, the overall atmosphere and accessibility make it a convenient option for many in the Fort Cavazos area. Whether you're looking to swim, play basketball, or enjoy a sauna, Abrams has something to offer.

A lot of changes since I last went BUT the pool laps were brilliant!
Dennis Gray (4/17/25, 6:20 PM):
I quite enjoyed this establishment as I received my second dose of the vaccine here and found the process to be rather well-structured. The most prolonged wait occurs post-vaccination, as one must remain on-site for a period to monitor for any adverse reactions to the injection.
Dorothy Ford (4/17/25, 4:07 PM):
The regulation stating that a 17-year-old teenager cannot access the gym without parental supervision is quite frustrating!
Hannah Hill (4/17/25, 11:43 AM):
The weight room is quite petite, lacking some essential equipment...there's not much room for deadlifts or other Olympic lifts....yet there is a pool available, at least.
Jordan Smith (4/17/25, 10:35 AM):
Top-notch field house, the finest I've come across in the Army MWR system. With a pool, free weights, machine weights, and cardio equipment all in one convenient, family-friendly location. The locker room is spacious, with lockers, showers, and a dressing area. While not flawless, it stands out in terms of quality compared to facilities at Bragg, Dix, and Jackson, as well as sister service facilities.
Joshua Martinez (4/17/25, 4:49 AM):
A fair selection of cardio gear, yet lacking in free weights. The space is somewhat limited.
Sophia Gutierrez (4/17/25, 12:46 AM):
These new hours are making it quite hard for Soldiers to get their swim on. 🫥 …
Andrea Roberts (4/16/25, 10:25 AM):
The sauna ain't in the locker room and it's for both men and women. The pool also has strange free swim times.
Elizabeth Hamilton (4/16/25, 10:14 AM):
This gym used to be my top pick until they decided to cut back on their weekday hours and introduce some unreasonable sauna regulations. Additionally, they removed some essential weight machines like the hamstring curl. I'm hoping they bring back the late-night opening hours and the necessary weight equipment for a complete body workout, as well as swiftly repair the machines that have been out of order for six months. It would also be great if they could eliminate the absurd sauna rules that I've never encountered in any other gym.
Martha Roberts (4/16/25, 2:32 AM):
Top gym for basketball players at Ft. Hood. Come ready to play your best! The staff is top-notch, and this facility is perfect for families. No rude language allowed.
Johnny White (4/16/25, 1:02 AM):
The gym is quite petite and can get a bit ripe on account of the cozy spaces and the massive number of members it accommodates. The pool is pleasant, but if you're in search of a solid workout spot, I'd suggest checking out Ironhorse or Harvey before considering Abrams.
Roger Martin (4/15/25, 8:43 PM):
The facilities are top-notch and the pool is simply superb. The staff were very attentive and helpful. I definitely had a fantastic workout! The atmosphere is brilliant. Thank you, Abrams Gym!
Vincent Torres (4/14/25, 5:22 PM):
There ain't much equipment, particularly in their cardio area. Splendid if you're after a pool or a basketball court.
Karen Barnes (4/14/25, 3:38 PM):
It was used for Covid vaccines, but it is fantastic for gym facilities!
Judith James (4/14/25, 3:36 PM):
Excellent facility. Just the right size. Wide range of equipment. Pool in working order.
Victoria Watson (4/13/25, 8:36 PM):
4 stars overall. Nearly a 5, mate, but the absence of free weights makes it less appealing for the true Iron Addicts (like CT Fletcher). Everything else gets a big tick, though.
Tyler Graham (4/13/25, 12:04 PM):
I used to frequent the old gym location, but recently visited the new one when my brother-in-law's unit returned from deployment. It's a spacious and immaculate facility.
Steven Gutierrez (4/13/25, 8:24 AM):
What a lovely facility. It's a privilege to be at one of our bases. What an incredible country we live in!
Dennis Hall (4/13/25, 7:34 AM):
Our swimmers absolutely adore the Abrams Pool, as it enables our swim team to practice year-round. The Fort Hood Dolphins are truly outstanding, thanks to Abrams Gym and its esteemed partners, which provide our children with the opportunity to fully enjoy the sport of swimming!
Judith Price (4/13/25, 5:00 AM):
The pool and its surroundings are kept clean and tidy. Upon scheduling, your space will be prepped in advance for your convenience.
