A Comprehensive Overview of Abrams Physical Fitness Center

The Abrams Physical Fitness Center located in Fort Cavazos, TX, is a well-known facility amongst local fitness enthusiasts. Here, we'll explore the various amenities offered by the gym and what you can expect when you visit.

Amenities That Cater to All Fitness Levels

One of the standout features of Abrams is its spacious basketball court, perfect for those looking to engage in team sports or simply shoot some hoops. Additionally, the center boasts a swimming pool that is highly praised for its cleanliness and maintenance, allowing members to swim year-round. For convenience and comfort, the facility offers showers and generous locker room space, making it easy for gym-goers to freshen up after their workouts. Furthermore, there are two co-ed saunas; just a reminder to bring your shower shoes!

Atmosphere and Accessibility

The overall atmosphere of Abrams is described as friendly and welcoming. Many users appreciate the professional staff who help create a community-oriented environment. The gym is designed with accessibility in mind, with a wheelchair-accessible entrance and car park, ensuring that facilities are available for everyone. However, several comments suggest that certain areas, such as the weight room, might feel cramped during peak hours, which can detract from the overall experience.

Room for Improvement

While the amenities are commendable, some patrons point out that the weight room is relatively small and may lack a comprehensive selection of free weights. With only a few squat racks and limited space for dumbbells, those focused on heavy lifting may find alternatives necessary. Additionally, feedback regarding the basketball court has indicated that maintenance could be more attentive, with concerns over the court's surface condition and overall upkeep. Some users have noted that the court is occasionally repurposed for events like COVID-19 vaccinations, which can affect regular usage.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, the Abrams Physical Fitness Center is an excellent choice for family-friendly fitness, offering diverse amenities such as a swimming pool, saunas, and a basketball court. While improvements could be made to the weight equipment and maintenance routines, the overall atmosphere and accessibility make it a convenient option for many in the Fort Cavazos area. Whether you're looking to swim, play basketball, or enjoy a sauna, Abrams has something to offer.

Splendid facility, I must say! The lifeguards are always on duty and the pool is a fantastic spot for a good workout, don't you think?
Deborah Nguyen (4/12/25, 4:36 PM):
The showers are spotless and roomy. And the sauna and hot shower feel absolutely heavenly after a PT test in 31-degree weather.
Larry Evans (4/11/25, 6:48 PM):
This gym is top-notch, mate! It's got everything you need for a good workout. The bathrooms are spotless, and there's even an indoor pool.
Rachel Phillips (4/11/25, 12:28 PM):
In the Air Force, I was lucky enough to have access to a Family Room where I could squeeze in a workout while keeping an eye on my kids. Now, as an Army Dependapotomus, well, things are a bit different. *shrugs*
Barbara Graham (4/10/25, 8:30 PM):
Our swimmers absolutely adore the Abrams pool as it enables the swim team to practice year-round. The Fort Hood Dolphins are top-notch thanks to Abrams Gym and its associated facilities, making it a delightful experience for our young ones to partake in swimming!
Isabella Cruz (4/10/25, 8:01 PM):
Cutting-edge gyms, a sparkling pool, top-notch cycling facilities, and a plethora of other amenities are at your disposal. If you're in the military and posted at Fort Hood, it's an added bonus!
Jerry Walker (4/10/25, 4:03 PM):
This gym might be on the smaller side in terms of weights, but it boasts a delightful basketball court, a refreshing pool, and gender-neutral saunas that are consistently warm.
Patricia Stewart (4/10/25, 12:20 PM):
This gym is fantastic if you fancy a game of basketball or any other sports. However, if you're looking to bulk up or lift some serious weights, I suggest checking out another place. The gym is spotless and the staff are really friendly.
Christine Price (4/10/25, 5:28 AM):
This gym is excellent, mate! It has everything you need for a proper workout. The facilities are spotless, and there's even an indoor pool. Cheers!
Timothy Alexander (4/9/25, 11:25 PM):
Lovely gym. The largest one on post, never too crowded. Even when they hold events, you can still use the equipment during the event.
Rebecca Butler (4/9/25, 8:40 PM):
My sister works at the gym providing COVID shots to the soldiers. It appears to be running quite smoothly, I must say.
Bruce Jackson (4/9/25, 1:38 AM):
A splendid field house indeed, the finest I've come across in the Army MWR network. It boasts a pool, complimentary weights, machine and cardio equipment, all under one roof in a welcoming environment for families. The locker room area is spacious and well-equipped with lockers, showers, and changing areas. While not flawless, it certainly stands out compared to facilities at Bragg, Dix, and Jackson, as well as those of other branches of the military.
Anthony Jordan (4/9/25, 12:02 AM):
Three stars for three reasons.

1. Racquetball.
2. Basketball.
3. Swimming Pool.

I would solely visit for those three reasons. The gym is more geared towards family fitness. If you're seeking a diverse range of weights, look elsewhere.

I used to adore going there to play racquetball. They converted one of the courts into a cardio room. With only three courts left, it gets very congested during evenings and weekends. It's time to seek another place to play.

Final Note:
I wonder if they would have still repurposed the Racquetball Court if there was a General Officer who enjoyed playing and/or watching Racquetball.
Austin Barnes (4/8/25, 10:16 PM):
The weight area is quite limited in size, however, there are numerous cardio rooms available. Only two stair masters are available. It tends to get very crowded.
Charlotte Murphy (4/8/25, 8:17 PM):
I fancied this establishment because I received my second jab here and it was quite well-ordered. The lengthiest wait is after receiving the vaccine, to ensure there are no adverse reactions to the shot.
Patrick Evans (4/8/25, 7:43 AM):
It's a brilliant spot, with a pool, basketball courts, and a baseball field - a smorgasbord of sports!
Rose Walker (4/7/25, 7:58 PM):
The workout space for free weights is quite cramped. The equipment is rusty and the weights are not organized at all. The atmosphere is very damp and could benefit from improved air circulation.
Stephen Ward (4/7/25, 6:12 PM):
The pool costs money to use! This is the first post I've come across where service members have to pay to use the pool. If swimming is your go-to workout, this could end up being quite costly for you!
Patrick Hernandez (4/7/25, 12:23 PM):
I absolutely adore the team at Abrams pool, but there's this one chap who can be a tad arrogant, if you ask me. My lad managed to ace his swim test on his second attempt - thrilling stuff! 😁 It would be grand if they could consider revising their age limit policy, especially for the standard equipment that doesn't carry a significant risk of harm. Cheers!
Bruce Gonzalez (4/6/25, 11:21 PM):
I strolled in and was assisted right away. The showers & facility were spotless and well-maintained. Not too crowded for this hour of the day.
