Member Experiences and Feedback

Member experiences at OneLife Fitness have been mixed, highlighting both positives and areas for improvement:

Many appreciate the friendly staff and clean facilities. Members often express satisfaction with the availability of equipment, particularly during off-peak hours like 10 AM to 1 PM. However, it can get crowded during weekends, especially with treadmills and other cardio machines. Some reviews noted that while the weight equipment is adequate, it might not meet the needs of serious lifters, as the free weight area may feel limited.

Additionally, there have been concerns regarding cleanliness in the locker rooms and maintenance of some amenities, such as the showers. It seems that consistency in maintenance and cleanliness remains a crucial area for enhancement, especially since several reviews mentioned dirty facilities and clogged drains.

Membership Considerations

To enroll at OneLife Fitness, a membership is required. The membership fee is reported to be around $38-$39 per month, but it's advisable to check with the staff for current rates and options. Some former members have reported challenges with canceling memberships, indicating that potential new members should understand the cancellation policies thoroughly before committing.

Oh, dear, what a dreadful little spot this gym is! They neglect to mention upon signing up that, buried in the fine print, you're obliged to commit for a whole year. I wouldn't fuss over this if the gym itself weren't so utterly dismal. It's cramped and lacking in any equipment you'd actually desire. One must shuffle sideways just to navigate through it.

I absolutely adore Natty and Kevin's Zumba classes. Their energy is simply infectious. They make it a point to remember everyone's names and create such a welcoming atmosphere. I was hesitant to leave a glowing review because I fear that more folks will join and their classes are consistently packed. Following the closure of my previous gym, I decided to join OneLife primarily due to the fact that Natty and Kevin are instructors here.

I was a member of OLF for 10 years, as a husband and wife duo. In July 2023, I made it clear to OLF via email that I would not be renewing our membership. However, a few months later, OLF charged my American Express credit card $30.00 for a supposed "membership" fee. To my dismay, this happened not once, but twice, totaling $60.00.

This situation points to either sheer incompetence on the part of OLF, or perhaps a deliberate attempt at deception. Despite my best efforts including phone calls, emails, and even in-person visits, I have been unable to resolve this issue with OLF.

It is imperative that OLF refunds me the $60.00 promptly.

I've been frequenting this gym since before it transformed into One Life, and I must say it's a fantastic gym for the price I'm currently paying. The basketball court may have been removed with the arrival of One Life, but the complete overhaul of the small gym area into a well-equipped space with multiple benches, deadlift platforms, squat racks, and various weight machines was a pleasant surprise. Responding to member feedback, they even converted the squash court into a turf area for additional workout space. I've made use of the pool, sauna, hot tub, and steam room, all of which have provided enjoyable experiences. I've also connected with many new members who have all been friendly and welcoming. My only gripe with this gym is its operating hours – closing at 8 pm on Fridays, 7 pm on Saturdays, and 6 pm on Sundays is not ideal. Despite this drawback, I highly recommend this gym for both novice and seasoned lifters.

This was our initial rendezvous before signing up. Dawn "Snowball" Hubbard-Powell, Director of the P.R.E.P. program, graciously guided us through the establishment, provided valuable insights, addressed all inquiries with charm, and overall, was a delight to interact with! I eagerly anticipate achieving my goal of being "Fabulous at Fifty"!!! 😀 …
Nathan Williams (6/5/25, 6:37 AM):
Absolutely packed during peak hours, but that's to be expected I suppose. It can be a bit frustrating if you're not looking to dedicate a couple of hours to a short workout. Overall, it's a decent gym - small and straightforward with friendly staff members.
Jerry Ortiz (6/2/25, 4:19 AM):
I absolutely adore this place! I first signed up at the Olney, Md location. Upon moving to Germantown, I was pleasantly surprised to discover they also had an Onelife nearby. The equipment is top-notch and user-friendly, the classes are fantastic, and the instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely interested in helping others achieve their health and fitness objectives. The water classes have been a godsend in aiding my recovery from rotator cuff tendonitis. If you're on the lookout for a phenomenal gym experience, I highly recommend giving Onelife Fitness in Germantown, MD a try!

I must say, I'd have to give this place a zero-star rating if it were possible. I've been coming and going from this gym for quite some time, back when it was under the ownership of HealthTrax and then ACAC. However, my experience took a turn for the worse once Onelife took over. I reached out to the Germantown branch manager on March 11, 2024, to request the cancellation of my membership promptly. Instead of a smooth process, I was informed that a 30-day notice was required, and my final payment wouldn't be until 04/02/2024, with the membership not actually canceling until the end of April. To my dismay, they continued charging me in May as well. When I followed up, I was informed that I had missed a footnote in the email instructing me to also contact Corporate to finalize the cancellation. Due to this oversight, they reset the clock on my cancellation period, disregarding my initial 30-day notice and prolonging my membership until 7/1. Their handling of the situation left me deeply dissatisfied. When I called to cancel my membership, I was directed to email the branch manager, who in turn requested another email for the same purpose. It's clear they are making the cancellation process intentionally convoluted for members. While they may have gained an extra two months of payment through these tactics, what they are truly losing is their standing in the community and the potential return of a former member like myself.
Ralph Turner (5/24/25, 7:04 PM):
I really love this gym because it's cozy and quiet, so I can have all the machines to myself without any waiting.
Walter Jordan (5/23/25, 8:35 PM):
This gym is absolutely fantastic, with some top-notch membership pricing options. The staff are super friendly and helpful as well. Highly recommend!
John Powell (5/23/25, 12:34 AM):
It's astounding how they exploit folks. At the OneLife Fitness gym in Germantown, they are demanding $16 every time you bring a companion. There are gyms that permit one visitor and the monthly cost is $10 or $29 with identical advantages. I have introduced 3 individuals who are presently members of this gym, yet today we are disillusioned. Regrettably, it's the closest one to my residence, but I am considering going somewhere else. I didn't want to make this proclamation, yet I attempted to get in touch with them and they kept deleting my messages...
Joyce Jones (5/22/25, 3:20 PM):
The entire team, particularly the trainers, are some of the friendliest individuals I've come across! The majority of their equipment is top-of-the-line, and I thoroughly enjoy their group sessions. A fantastic undiscovered treasure in Germantown, and far more affordable than the competition.
Elizabeth Kelly (5/22/25, 5:47 AM):
The services and classes are top-notch. However, when it comes to billing, it's a different story altogether. I decided to pause my membership during the Covid period and to my surprise, I was charged several hundred dollars before I realized the mistake. This year, due to medical reasons, I once again paused my membership only to be overcharged.
Christopher Anderson (5/21/25, 5:02 PM):
Absolutely adore working out. Spin classes and water aerobics are my absolute faves!
John Cook (5/21/25, 11:14 AM):
I had a terrible experience at this gym with one of the employees. I have been working out at Planet Fitness since 2019 and decided to give another gym a try.

I was in the middle of my bench press when I didn't finish and left the weights on the bar. An employee approached me and asked me to remove the weights. I explained that I had not finished yet, but he insisted that he had seen me on the security cameras. It had only been 10 minutes! I pointed out to him other equipment with weights left on them and asked why he didn't ask those people to remove their weights. He simply replied, "It doesn't matter! Remove the weights or leave!" This happened in front of several people.

Well, my friend, you won. I will not be returning to that gym and I do not recommend it. I even took pictures of the other equipment with weights left on them and am considering suing the gym. The way I was treated was disrespectful and embarrassing.
Sharon Graham (5/19/25, 2:36 PM):
Onelife needs to sort out this telly, mate. Check out the video I've sent ya, it's been blinking on and off for ages now.
Nicole Graham (5/18/25, 3:52 PM):
I popped into this gym for a little look-see and to get the lowdown on what they're all about, you know? But lo and behold, I was met with some rather frosty vibes from one of the staff members, a lass named Betsy. She seemed more interested in shooing me away than welcoming me as a potential new member. My enthusiasm for learning about their offerings was met with a cold shoulder, and I must say, I'm feeling rather let down by the whole experience. One would hope for a bit more warmth and hospitality, wouldn't you agree?
Carolyn Roberts (5/15/25, 2:07 PM):
I absolutely adore acac Germantown gym. I usually hit the gym bright and early in the morning, and let me tell you, it's an absolute delight to work out there. The staff is super friendly, always ready to assist and motivate you. The place is kept impeccably clean and tidy, and there's a great selection of equipment that ensures your workout is both efficient and worthwhile. It's clear that these guys genuinely prioritize your health and safety.
Virginia Garcia (5/14/25, 3:42 AM):
I've been with One Life for 5 months now and I absolutely adore it! I decided to give personal training a go, and I couldn't be happier that I did. Sam was my trainer, and let me tell you, he's top-notch! The man exudes professionalism and is just so darn encouraging. He really took the time to understand my goals and crafted a plan that was tailored to my needs. Not only that, but he also schooled me on the importance of proper form and technique to steer clear of any injuries. I wholeheartedly endorse Sam for your personal training needs!
Ryan Edwards (5/13/25, 8:06 PM):
I am absolutely chuffed with my gym. It's a proper home away from home, I tell you. The staff are all top-notch and ever so friendly, always ready to lend a hand with any queries. The facilities are spotless, with a cracking pool, jacuzzi, and sauna. It's a prime spot for forming tight-knit relationships, let me tell you.
