Exploring Planet Fitness Lakeside: A Comprehensive Review
Planet Fitness in Lakeside, Colorado has become a popular destination for fitness enthusiasts and casual gym-goers alike. With a focus on creating an inclusive atmosphere, this gym offers various amenities that cater to different needs. In this article, we will delve into aspects such as accessibility, the required membership, available showers, planning your visits, and features like the wheelchair-accessible car park and entrance.
Accessibility at Planet Fitness Lakeside
One of the appealing features of Planet Fitness in Lakeside is its wheelchair-accessible car park and entrance, ensuring everyone can access the facilities easily. This commitment is crucial for fostering a community where all members feel welcome and supported. However, some users have reported cleanliness issues in locker rooms and showers, which can affect overall accessibility experiences.
Membership Required: What to Expect
To enjoy the amenities at Planet Fitness, a membership is required. The pricing model is straightforward, boasting an attractive value proposition with membership options available starting from $10 a month. Many reviews mention the benefits of the black card membership, which includes perks such as access to red light therapy, tanning beds, and hydro massage chairs. Yet, several members have expressed concerns regarding customer service, billing practices, and challenges in canceling memberships.
Showering Facilities: Areas for Improvement
Showers are a critical aspect of any gym experience, especially for those traveling or working long hours. While Planet Fitness provides shower facilities, feedback indicates a decline in maintenance. Reports of dirty floors and malfunctioning showerheads suggest there’s significant room for improvement. Cleanliness seems to be a recurring theme, and many members hope management addresses these concerns swiftly.
Planning Your Visit
To maximize your experience at Planet Fitness Lakeside, planning your visit during off-peak hours is advisable. Many users have noted that the gym can get crowded, especially during evenings. Utilize the app to check peak busy times before heading out. Additionally, consider using facilities like the massage chairs or tanning beds when they’re less busy to enhance your relaxation post-workout.
Atmosphere and Community Feel
The atmosphere at Planet Fitness Lakeside is often described as welcoming and non-judgmental, aligning with the brand's mission. The staff is generally friendly and willing to assist, though some reviews point out occasional lapses in attentiveness. It is essential to foster a vibrant community spirit by encouraging members to engage more actively with their fellow gym-goers and contribute to maintaining cleanliness.
Conclusion
In conclusion, while Planet Fitness in Lakeside, Colorado, offers a range of accessible amenities and a welcoming environment, it also faces some challenges within maintenance and customer service realms. By addressing cleanliness issues, improving communication about membership policies, and ensuring staff engagement, Planet Fitness can continue to thrive as a go-to location for fitness enthusiasts in the area.

The bloke Lauren at this place was terribly unprofessional and rude, it was quite unbelievable!! My daughter and I popped in to sign up and she was chomping her gum right in our faces during her very unprofessional explanation of the gym, etc., and she couldn't answer our questions without being extremely rude. She also didn't fully disclose the rules and fees. We could only tolerate her attitude for about 10 minutes before wanting to leave. When I asked several times who the general manager was, she told me she "didn't have that information". You would think as a manager she would know... It's a shame because we were literally going to sign up 3 people with no need for a sales pitch as we were all ready to join until we spoke to her. I like Planet Fitness but I have to question what that gym would be like with someone like that running it.
UPDATE: The General Manager Tyler reached out to me and was extremely helpful. Tyler handled the problem very professionally and gave us several options to make up for the bad experience. He was very understanding and took the time to check back with me even after our initial conversation. I would now definitely recommend this location based on the customer service I received from Tyler and his persistence in rectifying the situation. It's a beautiful new club and the rest of the staff was friendly as well.

The gym is very well-kept and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly, top-notch service all around.
Kenneth Simmons (5/12/25, 10:49 AM):
This be the worst Planet Fitness I've ever set foot in. Filthy bathrooms and leaky showers galore, mate.
Sara Henderson (5/11/25, 10:54 PM):
Great spot! The fact that it's open 24/7 is a huge bonus. I docked a star because the tanning bulbs in Bed 2 are actually installed the wrong way round, ha! I spent about 5 minutes wondering why I wasn't feeling anything on my skin, then looked around and saw that the long fluorescent bulbs were facing the wrong direction and emitting rays away from the tanner - whoops! Being a tan enthusiast, it was easy for me to notice. Hopefully, management catches wind of this and gets it fixed pronto! The night shift team was off somewhere else, so I couldn't flag it to them. Apart from that, it's a pretty solid spot!
Megan White (5/9/25, 1:07 PM):
The men's restroom is absolutely dreadful. I refuse to take any snapshots of the hairballs lurking in the corners, and the changing stalls seem untouched, with a noticeable buildup of dust and hair. Upon my return, I encountered the same hair strands yet again. It's a relief that I am no longer homeless and can now use my own shower. Do you even bother cleaning up this repulsive mess?
Sarah Diaz (5/5/25, 3:18 AM):
The arrangement of this PF is simply dreadful. The gym is quite dirty and extremely congested in comparison to other branches. The men's locker rooms and showers are utterly revolting. Be cautious not to let your soap slip in the shower, and make sure to wash your garments thoroughly after stretching here as dust and dirt lurk in every nook and cranny.
Alan Butler (5/4/25, 3:56 AM):
This place is just splendid in the region. They've got adult staff, which is quite rare to find. Their facility is always spotless. Every person working there is delighted to welcome you, eager to assist you, and constantly wearing a smile. The equipment is excellently taken care of. Five stars, diamonds, thumbs up - they truly deserve all the praise. And let's not forget about their stunning clientele as well 😀. Make sure to pay them a visit, you won't regret it.
Ethan Parker (5/2/25, 10:35 PM):
This gym offers great value! There are so many amenities available for black card members, such as red light therapy, tanning beds, and hydro massage chairs or beds. However, I have encountered some issues as the amenities don't always live up to expectations. The hydro beds can be a bit wonky, the red light rooms don't actually use red lights, and the tanning beds can vary in strength - sometimes leaving you peeling after a short session or seeing no results after a longer one. Despite these challenges, at just $25 a month, the value is unbeatable! The equipment is top-notch, and the gym has a super inclusive culture.
Aye, the gym be spotless, with a friendly staff (though they do seem glued to their phones, they're quick to help when ye ask.) The changing rooms and gear be well looked after. It's always bustling, even when the planet fitness "crowd meter" says it be quiet.
John Kim (5/1/25, 7:59 PM):
Great gym, always a bit messy though.
Ryan Parker (4/28/25, 6:39 AM):
Do not bother coming here if you're serious about getting a good workout. The place is packed with folks just lounging on machines, glued to their phones and not actually exercising. There are even folks dropping by just to use the massage chairs without breaking a sweat? It gets super crowded in the afternoons, with a lot of chatter and hardly any actual workouts happening. These are the individuals who are fine with shelling out $10 a month to hog the space, while the rest of us with premium memberships ($25 per month) struggle to get our turn. As soon as my subscription ends, I will be switching gyms.
Beverly Scott (4/26/25, 4:49 PM):
This is a great spot for a workout, you know?
But let me tell you, the showers are just as crucial as the machines. Lately, this place has been having quite some issues with hot water, so if you manage to snag a hot shower, consider yourself lucky, mate. But if showers aren't your cup of tea, you're all good.
In any case, it remains a top-notch place to get your sweat on, no doubt about it.
Jennifer Ward (4/25/25, 2:44 AM):
Update 5-5-24 Apparently, the issue with the hot water was supposed to be resolved. NOT AT ALL. I was in the middle of my shower when it suddenly turned ice cold. The front desk, as usual, seemed indifferent and clearly lacked the ability to address the problem. It's really unfortunate that management puts them in such a tough spot.
The hot water problem in the showers seems to be happening more frequently now. The shower valves are often broken or not working, and the toilet flushes are also malfunctioning.
The staff's indifference is noticeable, and they appear powerless to fix the issues. Maintenance and repairs take an eternity, and management seems to blame the lower-level staff and members with a take-it-or-leave-it attitude.
The customer experience has become truly terrible. This was never a common sight before, but now it seems to happen all too often.
Jack Torres (4/24/25, 5:43 AM):
The staff at this gym are simply brilliant, I must say. They're not only friendly and attentive but also quite knowledgeable. The facility itself is spotless, and they take their social distancing measures seriously. During a recent medical emergency, the staff sprang into action with speed and compassion, showing understanding and being incredibly accommodating. When I returned to the gym, they were caring, helpful, and even inquired about my recovery. And let me tell you, the manager is an absolute gem, going the extra mile to assist me. In all honesty, I couldn't ask for more—I am truly delighted!
Martha Roberts (4/18/25, 6:55 AM):
The bathrooms are quite filthy. There are clumps of hair and various debris in the showers, which look rather grimy as the shower pans are plastic and tend to absorb all the dirt. It seems like they aren't cleaned or washed properly compared to other places, judging by the unpleasant smell lingering in them.
Stephen Martinez (4/15/25, 4:52 PM):
Just getting back into the swing of things and I absolutely adore this judgment-free zone!
Wayne Collins (4/14/25, 10:41 AM):
Almost every time I swing by this spot, there's this lass with blonde hair and a tad on the heavier side who's always glued to her blower, ignoring folks entering the gym. One has to holler to catch her eye for a drink or a whirl on the massage chairs! And would you believe her cheeky attitude, like she owns the place? I reckon it's high time to switch gyms, perhaps this location or even Planet Fitness ain't up to snuff in managing their business these days!
