The Ahwatukee Foothills Y is a top-notch local gym. If you happen to reside in Ahwatukee near the 202, this spot is your go-to for a good workout session. The sense of community here is truly exceptional, largely thanks to the dedicated staff. The variety and quantity of classes offered are truly impressive. While the workout space is satisfactory, it could benefit from additional elliptical machines. The website could do a better job at promoting the classes available. The 360 app utilized by the Y is quite useful, although it has its limitations as it only allows for tracking gym visits rather than exercise activities. All in all, this gym stands out as a fantastic fitness option.

This establishment is simply splendid for all, but particularly ideal for families. My three children thoroughly enjoy visiting here. There is constantly a plethora of activities available for the young ones. The sole observation I would make is the requirement for fresh basketballs, as the current ones are rather dilapidated. Nonetheless, aside from that minor detail, I have no grievances.

After 20 years loyal to this gym, I decided to make the switch to LA Fitness. Despite the higher membership cost, I found that this gym had shifted away from prioritizing customer satisfaction and seemed to have lost touch with who their paying customers are. There was often broken exercise equipment that would take weeks to get fixed, and the lack of customer-focused service in the evenings was disappointing.

I absolutely adore the folks at the reception. They are always beaming with a smile and ready to engage in a chat with anyone. The gear is top-notch and there's a wide variety to pick from. The gym is never overcrowded or unclean. It's a stellar gym, and I feel exceedingly at ease while breaking a sweat.

I absolutely adore the aqua aerobics classes offered at this fantastic Family YMCA. Liz, Molly, Valerie, and Ashley are incredibly skilled, knowledgeable, charming, and attentive. A heartfelt thank you to these wonderful ladies ❤️

I must say, I wasn't particularly impressed with this gym. It appears to lack the necessary management structure, resulting in quite a bit of unprofessional conduct. A lot of the membership benefits are often unavailable, and they seem to hire inexperienced staff who can pose liability issues for the club. There is a definite lack of oversight when it comes to addressing problems, and any concerns raised are often brushed aside. The YMCA used to embody a sense of community, but this establishment seems to operate more like an exclusive old boys' network.

I recently visited the gym and I must say, the equipment there is truly top-notch! However, I was quite disappointed with the childcare services. There seemed to be a persistent foul odor, musty and moldy, that my husband - who is a physician - noticed before even entering the childcare area. As someone with a background in teaching and administration, I couldn't help but feel let down by the lackluster childcare staff. Instead of actively supervising the children, I observed teenagers huddled together, sitting and coloring or engrossed in their phones. To make matters worse, they were playing music with explicit lyrics.

During one visit, I was relieved to see an adult present in the childcare area. But when I went to pick up my 10-year-old son, this adult told me he was too old to be there, despite the fact that we pay for him to use the childcare services. She then went on to inform me that my son had asked her to intervene when a 4-year-old was following him around. Instead of helping him navigate the situation, she threatened him and even admitted to doing so when I questioned her about it. It's completely unacceptable and unprofessional for a childcare provider to behave in such a manner.

We have never encountered such issues at the Tempe location or the Chandler/Gilbert location, where we frequent five times a week. However, due to the consistently unprofessional behavior we've experienced on Mondays at this particular location, we have opted to avoid weekend visits altogether. It's disheartening to witness such incompetence among those entrusted with ensuring the safety and well-being of children.
