Upon initially enrolling for a membership, the employees were quite pushy and the sales chap made errors when completing my paperwork. It took the intervention of two managers to rectify the situation. Terminating the membership necessitated a personal visit to the establishment for signature (quite challenging when hospitalized and subsequently isolated). The staff exhibited extreme rudeness and persistence. Following the cancellation, they persistently charged my account every month, alongside the additional annual service fee, until I had to lodge disputes and obtain a new credit card.
Furthermore, it is concerning to note that potential members should exercise caution as the management seems to delve into member records in an attempt to identify individuals leaving reviews (allegedly without success). When closing my account, I explicitly requested the removal of my details and photograph from their database. With access to mailing addresses and phone numbers, one might ponder the potential for more intrusive actions such as stalking or unwelcome visits. These scenarios are reminiscent of many true crime narratives and ought not to be overlooked.
The staff at the front desk is brilliant, and the team at the kids' club is outstanding. Being a parent of two little ones, this gym really caters well to families like ours. The equipment is always accessible, and if it's not available right when you need it, it will be by the time you finish your workout. One small suggestion I have is regarding the annual equipment upgrade fee; it would be great if members could recommend equipment options for consideration. This gym is top-notch for families with children, and overall I highly recommend it.
I've been a member at this gym for a couple of years now and I absolutely love it. The staff are fantastic and the other members are so friendly. It's got such a welcoming atmosphere, I always feel comfortable working out here.
I had a chat with one of the staff members, and he assured me that any further charges would be reimbursed. He suggested that I contact my bank and request to block any future transactions. It's disappointing that I had to highlight the fraudulent nature of the account to prompt a reaction. I was promised a call from the manager on Monday, but it never happened, indicating a clear mismanagement problem. Thank you, but I've decided to take my business elsewhere. Goodbye.
I can't really comment much on the gym itself, but the experience I've had so far has been quite disappointing. I decided to take advantage of a free day pass and tour, and scheduled it on their website for today at 6 pm. However, when I arrived at the location, I was unable to enter because there was no staff present. I called the number listed on the door, and was informed that I would need to try calling during their normal operating hours. It's unclear what exactly those hours are, as it seems that the information on their website does not align with when people are actually present at the gym.
The gym is quite decent, equipped with all the necessary amenities. However, my experience during the enrollment process left me a bit puzzled. I was charged a $30 initiation fee in addition to the monthly membership fee, whereas upon checking online, I saw that the initiation fee was only $1. When I inquired about this discrepancy with a staff member over the phone, they explained that the actual fee would be charged during the enrollment at the gym and that the online information may not always align with the in-person charges. It's a bit confusing as to why there are different fees displayed online compared to what is actually charged at the gym.
I must say, this gym that I go to is quite close to me, which is convenient. However, there are definitely some areas for improvement that need addressing. The equipment always seems to be in disrepair - certain machines remain out of order for what feels like months on end. Even the ones that aren't marked as out of order often don't function properly.
Let me give you an example - on a recent occasion, we attempted to use one of the three stationary bikes that didn't have an "out of order" sign on them. To our dismay, one was missing a pedal, and another made a dreadful clanking noise with every pedal rotation. So, effectively, only one bike was usable in the entire facility (out of the 5 available).
And let's talk about the treadmills. One day, I decided to count, and astonishingly, there were 7 treadmills out of order. These same 7 have been dysfunctional for what seems like forever - at least since November, but probably even before then (it just started to bother me enough by November to snap a picture and tally up the broken machines).
And that's not all - there are numerous other pieces of equipment scattered throughout the gym that are also not in working condition! I witnessed a guy sit on a bench one day, and the entire thing shifted underneath him - luckily he hadn't begun to lift yet! Some machines stick, others are missing crucial accessories. Most of the benches have holes and tears.
I might be more forgiving if Fitness 19 was struggling financially. I understand that making repairs can be costly, and I don't anticipate perfection. But every time we visit, the place is consistently busy. They seem to have a sizable membership base, so why can't they allocate funds to fix or replace anything?
Other gyms don't seem to face these issues with equipment maintenance. We've visited the North Hills Fitness 19 a few times as well, and there are noticeably fewer broken machines there (and when they are, they are promptly fixed). Since they both utilize the same equipment, if the North Hills branch can manage repairs efficiently, why can't this one?
Adding to the frustration, all the weight plates are haphazardly strewn across the gym and rarely organized correctly. Members routinely leave weights on machines without re-racking them. While this isn't entirely the gym's fault, I believe the staff should play a role in educating patrons on proper gym etiquette if they notice these behaviors. Perhaps they could make rounds throughout the day to tidy up. I don't intend to vilify the staff, though - they all appear pleasant, and it's possible they do clean up periodically. It could just be that the members are so negligent in their etiquette that it's challenging to keep up.
So, there you have it - a bit of a rant, but I feel it encapsulates the primary concerns here. I think my motivation for sharing this review stems from Fitness 19 bombarding me with adverts on Facebook showcasing these pristine, state-of-the-art gyms with incredible amenities like turf fields and advanced cycling rooms that are noticeably absent at this location. It's quite misleading and frankly, exasperating.
Despite my grievances, I'll continue going there due to its proximity, albeit begrudgingly.
I’ve been a member at Fitness19 for over a year now. The location is absolutely fantastic, and the pricing is quite reasonable as well. However, I recently had the chance to visit a friend's gym and it made me realize the shortcomings of Fitness19.
In comparison, Fitness19 appears to be somewhat neglected. The bathrooms are small and seem to lack regular cleaning throughout the day. The gym floors are not well-maintained and overall feel unsanitary. Additionally, there are several broken treadmills that have not been repaired.
Upon entering my friend's gym, I was greeted by a pleasant disinfectant smell. The multiple bathrooms were spotless, and the treadmills were top-of-the-line with individual televisions that can be connected via Bluetooth.
I do hope that Fitness19 addresses these cleanliness issues soon. I have given them 2 stars for their convenience and pricing, but there is certainly room for improvement.
