Exploring Legends Barbell: A Gym for All Fitness Levels

Legends Barbell, located in Victorville, California, has established itself as a prominent fitness facility within the High Desert. While it boasts a large variety of equipment and a spacious environment, it raises important discussions around accessibility and service quality.

Accessibility Features

Legends Barbell provides several accessibility features that cater to individuals with disabilities. The gym includes: - Wheelchair-accessible entrance: Ensuring all members can enter freely. - Wheelchair-accessible car park: Convenient parking spots close to the entrance. - Wheelchair-accessible toilet: A crucial amenity for patrons requiring special accommodations. While these facilities show an intention to be inclusive, feedback suggests improvements could enhance the experience further.

On-Site Services and Amenities

Legends Barbell offers numerous amenities to cater to diverse gym-goers. Members will find ample workout machines, spacious lifting zones, and service options like a merch shop and juice bar. However, reviews indicate that while the facility is extensive, some equipment may not meet user expectations. Many users have reported issues with broken machines and the lack of cleanliness in restrooms. Toilets are described as small and cramped, which detracts from the overall experience. The absence of showers and changing facilities has also been noted, highlighting a gap in amenities often expected in a modern gym setting.

Customer Experience and Feedback

Feedback from members paints a mixed picture of the gym's atmosphere. Positive remarks highlight the large variety of equipment and the welcoming environment provided by friendly staff members. However, issues have been raised concerning customer service; repeated complaints regarding rude staff interactions contribute to a less positive overall experience. The check-in process for guests can be cumbersome, often requiring multiple steps that are time-consuming. This has led some potential members to consider other fitness options in the area. Additionally, the high membership fees, coupled with unexpected charges for maintenance or guest passes, have left many feeling frustrated.

Conclusion

Legends Barbell presents itself as a large fitness center with great potential for diverse workouts and personal training, appealing to various demographics. While its accessibility features and equipment options are commendable, significant improvements in customer service, maintenance, and facility cleanliness are needed to maintain a positive reputation in the highly competitive gym landscape of Victorville. Members and prospective gym-goers should weigh their options carefully when considering Legends Barbell for their fitness journey.

The gym is pretty cool, but it's really dirty. The billing and customer service leave something to be desired. When I went in for a trial, I was turned away by the person at the front desk because I lived in the city next door. I ended up having to pay a $20 fee, which was fine, but they told me my trial was cancelled. Now, a month later, I'm seeing random charges on my account and when I called for help, I was told I had to come in to cancel and they couldn't do anything about the charges - I had to email their department.

Update on my review: Their billing team actually did a great job resolving the issue. Thanks Legends Barbell!

The young lass who fancies herself the manager in the evenings with spectacles seems to have quite the authority complex, I wouldn't advise frequenting this establishment.

I must say, I encountered a few issues with this gym. Firstly, they seemed to engage in bait-and-switch tactics. Their website advertised a membership fee of $25 with no additional charges, yet upon signing up, they required an extra $10 per month for potential upgrades. Moreover, the gym is currently undergoing construction renovations, which added to the inconvenience.

To make matters worse, my parking experience turned out to be a disaster when I found a 9-inch construction nail that punctured my tire in the very first spot I parked in. When I informed the staff about this mishap, they simply directed me to contact corporate, washing their hands of the situation. After reaching out to corporate, instead of acknowledging the issue, they denied any responsibility, claiming there was no evidence linking the nail to their workers. However, upon closer inspection, the type of nail found matches those typically used in construction sites like theirs.

In conclusion, it's safe to say that this gym has failed on various levels. Their lack of accountability and disregard for customer satisfaction will surely not make them legends in the industry.

Positives:
Abundant equipment and variety available
Spacious gym facility

Negatives:
Costs
Base fee of $35 plus a $10 MONTHLY enhancement fee ($45 total per month)
$55 Pros Pass for bringing a guest also includes a $10 MONTHLY enhancement fee ($65 total per month)
An annual total of $120 in enhancement fees per member, mostly allocated to opening new facilities rather than improving existing ones
Restrictions on choosing guests, including blacklisting previous members and prohibiting guests under 18 who must instead purchase their own memberships
Lack of discounted family plans
Guest policy requires guests to have a local address on their ID, preventing out-of-town or recently moved individuals from being guests
No contracts, but fees for sign-up and cancellation apply
Bobby Campbell (4/22/25, 11:10 PM):
This gym is a good spot for getting your workout in, but there are a few things to keep in mind. It's important to ensure the facilities are kept clean, and the machines are maintained more effectively.
Nathan Harris (4/21/25, 6:58 AM):
For the steep cost of $45 per month along with a $30 initiation fee, you have the opportunity to join a spacious gym with a distinct lack of air conditioning, unclean restrooms, and a significant portion of malfunctioning machines. The presence of persistently cracked mirrors dating back to the gym's inception further adds to its charm, not to mention the extensive wait times for check-in. One must wonder about the purpose of the staff members who seem to be simply loitering around the premises.
