Exploring Legends Barbell: A Gym for All Fitness Levels

Legends Barbell, located in Victorville, California, has established itself as a prominent fitness facility within the High Desert. While it boasts a large variety of equipment and a spacious environment, it raises important discussions around accessibility and service quality.

Accessibility Features

Legends Barbell provides several accessibility features that cater to individuals with disabilities. The gym includes: - Wheelchair-accessible entrance: Ensuring all members can enter freely. - Wheelchair-accessible car park: Convenient parking spots close to the entrance. - Wheelchair-accessible toilet: A crucial amenity for patrons requiring special accommodations. While these facilities show an intention to be inclusive, feedback suggests improvements could enhance the experience further.

On-Site Services and Amenities

Legends Barbell offers numerous amenities to cater to diverse gym-goers. Members will find ample workout machines, spacious lifting zones, and service options like a merch shop and juice bar. However, reviews indicate that while the facility is extensive, some equipment may not meet user expectations. Many users have reported issues with broken machines and the lack of cleanliness in restrooms. Toilets are described as small and cramped, which detracts from the overall experience. The absence of showers and changing facilities has also been noted, highlighting a gap in amenities often expected in a modern gym setting.

Customer Experience and Feedback

Feedback from members paints a mixed picture of the gym's atmosphere. Positive remarks highlight the large variety of equipment and the welcoming environment provided by friendly staff members. However, issues have been raised concerning customer service; repeated complaints regarding rude staff interactions contribute to a less positive overall experience. The check-in process for guests can be cumbersome, often requiring multiple steps that are time-consuming. This has led some potential members to consider other fitness options in the area. Additionally, the high membership fees, coupled with unexpected charges for maintenance or guest passes, have left many feeling frustrated.

Conclusion

Legends Barbell presents itself as a large fitness center with great potential for diverse workouts and personal training, appealing to various demographics. While its accessibility features and equipment options are commendable, significant improvements in customer service, maintenance, and facility cleanliness are needed to maintain a positive reputation in the highly competitive gym landscape of Victorville. Members and prospective gym-goers should weigh their options carefully when considering Legends Barbell for their fitness journey.

Benjamin Gutierrez (6/14/25, 3:36 AM):
Beware of the one-week trial! I went to cancel my trial just one day after it expired (due to a family bereavement the day before which prevented me from coming in), and I was informed by both the manager and another staff member that I would have to pay a hefty total of 85 dollars (25 dollars for the membership fee, 30 dollars for the starting fee, and 30 dollars for the cancellation fee) for being just one day late.

I inquired if there was any flexibility or the possibility of waiving the fee given the unforeseen circumstances, but the employee at the front desk responded to me in a mocking tone, stating, "what's absurd is not checking your contract thoroughly before signing it." This response only added insult to injury, and I was genuinely taken aback by their lack of compassion after explaining my financial difficulty in covering the fees on my card.

Eventually, I paid what I could in cash and settled the remaining cancellation fee with the balance on my debit card. This whole ordeal was a truly awful experience, and I sincerely hope others do not become victims of their overly predatory fee structure.

A tad daunting initially for a 30-something-year-old who hasn't stepped foot in the gym for over a decade, but the amiable staff and fellow gym-goers swiftly put me at ease. Would absolutely recommend! Cheers!

I've been hitting the gym for about a month and a half now, and I must say, I absolutely adore the vibe here and the flexibility of being able to pop in whenever the mood strikes. It's a real game-changer, you know? Give it a go, you won't be disappointed!
David Mitchell (6/10/25, 1:59 AM):
This gym is fantastic, mate! They've got loads of choices for lifting and cardio, and you hardly ever have to queue for a machine or weights. The only downside is the dinky restrooms and the lack of a proper locker room. They do have a few lockers out back, but not many. Plus, there's no showers or sauna. However, the staff are top-notch and super friendly. Cheers!
Terry Green (6/8/25, 3:13 PM):
I decided to cancel my membership at the beginning of September. However, I was required to pay for the month of September as they have a 30-day notice policy. To my surprise, they also charged me for the month of October. Is their integrity really that low, or are they just extremely desperate for money? On top of that, I was also being charged $9.99 per month for 24-hour access that I never actually received. If you enjoy being billed for services that are not provided and prefer doing the same workout every day, then this gym may be the perfect fit for you. Otherwise, there are much better alternatives available.
Sandra Roberts (6/8/25, 11:22 AM):
Filled with deceptive advertising, discriminatory practices, and abysmal customer service. They falsely claim to offer no contracts but charge a separate fee for cancellations each month. They only accept card payments, not cash. Dreadful! Cancelling requires an additional $9.99 charge on top of the regular monthly fee and a $20 cancellation fee. To top it off, they exhibit racist behavior by denying entry to guests who are Mexican and do not possess a US ID.
Ethan Hernandez (6/7/25, 5:44 PM):
This Crossfit affiliate in the High Desert is simply top-notch. The staff is highly knowledgeable and always ready to assist. The camaraderie between staff and members is truly something special, creating a welcoming and friendly environment. I am thrilled to be a part of this community!
Catherine Simmons (6/4/25, 8:05 AM):
I absolutely adore the night crew at this gym. The music selection is spot on as well. There is a wide variety of equipment available, making it a great place to work out.
Kevin Sullivan (5/28/25, 10:15 PM):
Wonderful gym atmosphere. It really assisted me in staying focused on achieving my desired physique!
Roger Graham (5/28/25, 8:32 AM):
The finest gym in the HD, no doubt about it. The equipment is top-notch, the parking lot is massive, and the gym itself is spacious. I always find myself missing Legends when I'm on the road and have to make do with other gyms.
Mary Jenkins (5/27/25, 2:41 AM):
They don't seem to value their members at all, the staff is rude, unprofessional, and completely incompetent when it comes to solving issues. They even charged me double for my membership fees and refused to refund my money. The so-called manager is utterly useless and lacks the authority to effectively run the business. When I tried to contact them via email, I never received a response after two weeks. I had to resort to disputing the charges with my credit card. To top it off, they canceled my membership without my consent, despite the fact that they had already overcharged me. It's just completely unacceptable.
Carl Graham (5/25/25, 11:37 AM):
My second time visiting Legends Barbell on March 15, 2025 at 11:15 am was quite an interesting experience, I must say.

I encountered a rather impolite female staff member who instructed me to wait in a corner. It did strike me as odd, especially with the presence of a merch shop and juice bar at the entrance. Additionally, there were benches available, but she insisted I stand in a corner, and even pointed to a specific spot.

The equipment at this gym left something to be desired. Some machines seemed to be more for show than actual use (see attached photo)... I mean, what is even the purpose of this machine?

Legends Barbell appears to cater to a specific demographic and doesn't give off a welcoming vibe to everyone. The loud music that almost deafens you when walking to the restroom doesn't help either.

The guest check-in process was a bit of a nightmare. You're required to fill out a detailed information sheet with all your particulars, which is standard for guest sign-ins. But then, they proceed to recite a lengthy list of gym etiquette rules with each and every visit. Furthermore, they insist on checking your ID every single time, even if the staff have seen you before. Quite puzzling, if you ask me.

All in all, I wouldn't recommend this gym to others.
Nicholas Cruz (5/22/25, 4:21 PM):
The personnel at this establishment are rather impolite and quite stern. Upon becoming a member, they neglect to disclose the restriction on guest access following cancellation. The premises require more regular and thorough cleaning. If the monthly fee were reduced to $10, perhaps it would be justifiable. Ideally, they should recruit a more amiable team and reconsider their pricing strategy. Overall, the hype surrounding this gym is unfounded, and I would advise against investing in it.
Katherine Wilson (5/20/25, 7:31 PM):
You have to give it a shot! The prices are really reasonable! I absolutely enjoy attending their boot camp sessions! They also offer crossfit classes...if you're searching for a gym to work out, this is the one!
Patrick Young (5/17/25, 4:57 PM):
I traveled all the way from Texas to check out this gym while I was in California. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the staff were top-notch. It would be great if they could expand and open up more locations across the country. Definitely the best gym I've ever experienced.
Jeffrey Ramos (5/15/25, 9:46 PM):
This gym is absolutely fabulous for getting in a great workout - no doubt about it. However, I must caution you to keep an eye on your account. They have a tendency to charge you multiple times a month without any hesitation. And good luck trying to speak to someone at the front desk about these billing issues - it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. They never seem to call you back either. On the bright side, they are quite efficient when it comes to charging your account for canceling your membership and even throwing in an extra fee for the month you won't be using their facilities. The gym itself is aesthetically pleasing and provides a fantastic space to break a sweat, but their handling of your financial information leaves much to be desired.
Dennis Morris (5/14/25, 9:22 PM):
Avoid this place at all costs! The service is terrible, there's no customer support, and I was blatantly deceived. I understand the need for businesses to make money, but their unethical practices are what we would colloquially refer to as a scam. Do yourself a favor and check it out firsthand if you're skeptical. The manager doesn't appear to be competent for her role, as she continuously directs me to a generic team email instead of resolving issues herself and owning up to her staff's mistakes by deceiving clients. I've visited gyms all over the US, and none have been as subpar as this one. Head over to THE GYM, just two minutes away, and enjoy a far superior experience!
Amy Hayes (5/12/25, 2:59 AM):
Stephon and Ethan are truly top-notch assets to have at this gym. Their dedication and expertise have made my experience here truly exceptional. I am incredibly grateful for their hard work and support.
Martha Ramirez (5/12/25, 1:06 AM):
The gym equipment is top-notch. However, the problem lies with the staff; they struggle to maintain the cleanliness of the equipment and often display an unpleasant attitude. Furthermore, the excessively loud music they play can be quite bothersome. It becomes challenging to enjoy my own tunes when they insist on blaring that unbearable noise.
Julie Edwards (5/6/25, 9:01 PM):
The Gym is alright, but they add an extra $10 on top of your membership fee and require a $20 cancellation charge.
