24 Hour Fitness in Walnut Creek, California

Located in the heart of Walnut Creek, 24 Hour Fitness offers an extensive range of amenities and services for fitness enthusiasts. This gym is equipped with everything from a swimming pool to a sauna, but members have voiced concerns regarding cleanliness and service. This article will delve into the various aspects of the gym, including service options, accessibility, and the overall atmosphere.

Service Options

The gym provides a variety of on-site services including personal training sessions and group classes. However, members have reported inconsistent access to equipment due to overcrowding. The management has attempted to accommodate the influx of members from the closed Concord location, but issues with blocking off areas for trainers have created frustration among gym-goers. Many feel that their needs are secondary to staff requirements, leading to discontent.

Accessibility

The facility offers a wheelchair-accessible entrance and wheelchair-accessible toilets, ensuring that all members can enjoy the amenities. Unfortunately, feedback indicates that the wheelchair-accessible car park can be congested, especially during peak hours, making it difficult for those needing special accommodations.

Amenities

24 Hour Fitness boasts several features including a basketball court, swimming pool, sauna, and showers. While the pool is frequently praised as a relaxing aspect of the gym, it has faced criticism for cleanliness. Reports of unclean facilities, including hair and debris in the bathrooms, have raised concerns about hygiene standards. Additionally, the sauna has also been criticized for its maintenance, with some members reporting unpleasant odors.

Membership Required

Access to the gym's facilities requires a membership, which many find reasonably priced. Yet, disappointment arises when new members encounter rude staff or issues with guest passes. Instances where day pass policies change unexpectedly have left potential clients feeling unwelcome.

Atmosphere and Cleanliness

The atmosphere at 24 Hour Fitness is a mixed bag. While the equipment is generally well-organized, complaints about crowded conditions persist, especially during peak hours. Some users report a lack of courtesy among members, with weights left scattered throughout the gym. Furthermore, the cleaning crew has received mixed reviews—while some members appreciate their efforts, others cite ongoing cleanliness issues that detract from the overall experience.

Conclusion

Overall, while 24 Hour Fitness in Walnut Creek presents a wide array of amenities, significant issues related to service quality, cleanliness, and congestion persist. Potential members should weigh these concerns alongside the gym's features to determine if it meets their individual needs. In a competitive fitness market, improvements in customer service and facility maintenance could help restore this location's reputation as a top-tier gym.

The gym is decent, with all the usual amenities you'd expect at this price point. However, the parking situation is a proper nightmare due to the sheer volume of people that frequent the place. There are no off-peak times here - it's pretty much peak time around 80% of the day.
Angela Graham (4/10/25, 9:21 AM):
The management at this establishment is absolutely dreadful. It is important to exercise caution when considering this location for your workouts. Safety is a major concern here, both inside and outside the premises. The parking lot sees a high frequency of car break-ins on a daily basis, and thieves are known to target the locker rooms regularly and indiscriminately. In fact, just recently they managed to breach four lockers in under five minutes. Shockingly, the response from 24 Hour Fitness was simply to file a perfunctory incident report.

Overall, a fantastic 24-hour gym spot. I adore the spacious layout and diverse selection of gear and perks available. It would be splendid if there were more classes in the crack of dawn and twilight hours. Classes during the day simply don't jive with many folks! AND, I always say a little prayer to the parking deities - snagging a spot can be quite the challenge most hours of the day thanks to the Chic-Fil-A crowd.

Aye, quite a decent club, but it's a bit daft that ye have to go through all their rigmarole, providing yer date o' birth, navigating a bloody corporate phone tree, just t' find out the opening hours or if they're open on New Year's Day at the local club. They should have actual folks answerin' the phone, and then directin' ye to corporate services if necessary. Ruddy ridiculous, I tell ya.
Virginia Nguyen (4/6/25, 10:54 PM):
I used to be quite fond of this gym. We used to have 6 standalone all-in-one workout machines. They were perfect if you wanted to exercise in peace. However, after the center was remodeled, they got rid of all 6 and only set up 4. On top of that, the personal trainers section them off and don't allow the members to use them. I have attempted to contact corporate, but they have not been responsive. I will continue to try, but in the meantime, could you please request a couple more all-in-one workout machines? Or at the very least, allow the members to use all of them and not block them off! Additionally, it seems like we have less equipment upstairs now. They did add more cardio equipment, but that's not the primary reason most of us come to the gym. Have a wonderful day, and I still have a fondness for this gym, but please try to cater more to the members!

Thank you 😊

It's absolutely appalling, some of the workers are so rude. The bathrooms are beyond filthy, even worse than a restroom in a park. There are dirty tampons on the floor and dirty towels everywhere. It used to be pristine and the staff were so pleasant.

The gym itself is alright. It has all the usual things you'd expect from a gym in this price range. However, the parking situation is a complete nightmare because of the sheer number of people that visit. There are no off-peak times here. It's peak time about 80% of the day.

I'm a new member who recently transferred from the Sun Valley Mall branch to this one due to the more flexible schedules offered here. However, I've found it challenging to stick to my workout routine since this gym has gotten rid of the ski machine and lacks airbikes. I've had to make adjustments to my training regimen to accommodate the absence of these machines. I would rate this gym four stars or higher if they could bring back the ski machine at the very least.
Alice Fisher (3/29/25, 12:15 AM):
Oh dear, let me tell ya, this particular 24-hour fitness establishment is just about the worst I've ever come across. They went and shut down the sun valley mall location, which was a lot tidier and more civilized, if you ask me. This place is absolutely filthy, with trash and garbage all over the ladies' bathroom, overcrowded, and lacking in machines. People are always hanging around on the machines, making it a right pain to get a turn. And don't even get me started on the parking lot - it's nearly always full! I had to park two buildings down because it was so packed.

I tell ya, the whole experience there is just dreadful. They really oughta clean up the place and start telling folks to move off the machines. It's beyond frustrating. I miss sun valley somethin' fierce. I reckon I'll be canceling my membership since there ain't no other 24-hour fitness around besides the one way out in Moraga. It's a real shame they don't have a location in Concord, which is a major city. The WC location is jam-packed, way too small, and just plain dirty and disgusting!!
Joseph Nguyen (3/27/25, 12:50 PM):
The pool was in such a state, it was reminiscent of a hair salon disaster zone. I found myself unsure if I was swimming or wading through an unclean wig collection. Despite my efforts to remain composed, the sight was so repulsive that I ended up vomiting a total of 59 times - not that I was keeping track. And just when I believed it couldn't deteriorate further, four individuals decided to cram themselves into a single lane, transforming it into a sort of human washing machine. Meanwhile, the manager? Completely unperturbed, as though it were routine for individuals to swim in what could only be likened to a broth of hair. Truly an unforgettable experience!
Evelyn Garcia (3/27/25, 4:20 AM):
I've been a member for over 32 years and overall, I've been quite pleased with the club. However, I've observed a notable drop in cleanliness at the Walnut Creek location. The men's locker room is often dirty and has an unpleasant smell. It appears that management may be short-staffed or not giving proper attention to maintenance. I trust that these matters can be tackled to restore the club to its former top-notch standards.
Virginia Cox (3/25/25, 10:16 AM):
This spot is top-notch. The washrooms are pristine, the showers are superb, and the pool, hot tub, and sauna are all well-maintained. The staff have a positive attitude. I used to go to the Concord Club but honestly, it was far too dirty for my liking. This place can get a bit crowded, but I manage to find quieter times to work out. And let's thank our lucky stars for the lovely ladies here; they're quite the motivation, you know, being a guy and all. The equipment is brand new, and overall, I'm really enjoying my time at this gym.
Patricia Perez (3/21/25, 2:50 PM):
I really 'ave no idea what to expect when I come 'ere. I only pop by on weekends. I can expect to drive around the car park for about 5 minutes in the mornin' (7-10am) lookin' for a spot. The locker rooms can be right clean, or a proper circus show. They do 'ave a spacious layout though, and it's easy to get on the equipment. The gear itself is well looked after - massive plus.

Logan Morgan (3/21/25, 4:33 AM):
The staff were not really helpful or friendly. Plus, the place was so packed. I suggest looking for another gym if possible.

My pal and I had a dance audition later in the day and decided to practice in the morning. Sadly, the studio was fully booked with classes from 8 am to 12 pm.

We couldn't find another spot to practice except near the entrance, as the floor was not safe for dancing. You could easily injure your knee if you tried to move around too much.

As we attempted to practice near the entrance, a member of staff came over and rather aggressively told us, "You can't dance here, anywhere else but here."

I anticipated a more accommodating service, particularly since I pay $50 per month for a membership and even had to buy a $30 day pass for my friend.
