They are a bunch of dodgy characters running the joint. They cheekily used my account details to cover someone else's membership and kept charging me until I had to mention getting the bobbies involved. They flat out declined to reimburse me for the stranger whose sub was paid for with my dosh. I cancelled my account and lo and behold, they continued billing me and then had the audacity to say they couldn't refund me because, well, WE don't have your paperwork. A lot of pilferers and fibbers, I say.
This establishment had a dreadful customer service experience. They were deceitful to my face. The manager abruptly ended the call when I sought clarification on some queries. They declined to share any information about senior management. I strongly advise everyone to consider transitioning to YMCA before they encounter similar issues like I did.
I am terribly disappointed with the Manager's behavior at the gym. I have been a Black Card member for many years and I recently decided to cancel my membership. There is a member at this gym, an older individual, who the staff refers to as "special needs". This man uses the Recumbent machine every day. While exercising, he pretends to play the guitar and sings very loudly. (He sings loudly because he wears headphones). After his workout, he goes around the gym singing to everyone (once again, loudly) with his imaginary microphone. Initially, this may seem amusing but it can be quite distracting after some time. When I asked the staff if they could kindly ask him to lower his volume, I was informed that I could either come at a different time or cancel my membership. I chose the latter option. When I requested to speak with someone higher than the General Manager, I was told it was not possible. I was instructed to send an email to the General Manager and she would pass it along. When I inquired about a name, I was denied one.
In regards to the response from management that was just posted - I believe you are being dishonest. You did not provide an email address!
For anyone reading this: the YMCA on Arsenal Street is a fantastic new facility worth $12 million, featuring swimming pools and an indoor track. It's an amazing place! The staff there are welcoming, polite, and respectful.
This place is like a right drama. The boss man strolled up to a bird I've been hitting the gym with for a couple of days, whisked her away and said I'm known for trailing birds around the gym. Not on, mate. When I'm at the gym, I'm there to pump iron, not eyeball women or be some sort of creep. The real kicker is, could've just come out and asked her there and then if I was bothering her. If that was the case, why didn't they have a word with me about it? Either way, not on, mate.
This establishment has recently relocated to the Salmon Run Mall, nestled between Best Buy and the former Gander Outdoors. The fresh premises are pristine, contemporary, and more spacious than the prior spot across the highway. The previous location was fine, but this one is rather lovely. My lone gripe aligns with my sentiments about all Planet Fitness branches: a scarcity of Smith machines! There's perpetually a line for those, and it feels like they possess an excess of cardio contraptions, even during busy times. I'd much prefer to have an extra 1-2 Smith machines instead of numerous superfluous treadmills. Oh well. I shall continue to frequent nonetheless.
The staff is mega friendly! The locker rooms and bathroom area are always spotless. Loads of equipment available even during the busiest times of day.
I absolutely adore PF, especially since it relocated to the shopping center. A gear enhancement is on the horizon, but this gym is spotless and consistently bustling. Fellow gym-goers are excellent at completing their workouts, sanitizing the equipment, and swiftly transitioning so others can utilize it. The staff and management team are engaging and amiable - they're always restocking cleaning supplies, maintaining tanning beds, etc. - although a few more tanning beds wouldn't hurt :) I typically spend around 2 hours per workout session and visit 3-4 times weekly - I adore this place - I've been a member for years and intend to stay!
I'm just wondering, why is it that every day when I go to the gym, there's this bloke who's permitted to shout his lungs out while he's on the treadmill? And then he proceeds to stomp and shout around the gym like nobody's business. Nobody seems to bat an eye, I swear I can hear him clear as day even over my headphones. It's absolutely bonkers!
I attempted to secure a membership at that establishment, but the lady on duty seemed preoccupied chatting with what I presume to be one of her companions. I patiently waited for her to conclude her conversation, and after a wait of nearly 8 minutes, I decided to depart.
If that is how she chooses to interact with prospective members, there is no chance I will entrust my well-earned funds to support someone of her nature.
Instead, I opted to become a member of the YMCA, which excels in providing superior service through their staff.
Everything is brand new and in excellent condition. Impeccably clean and very professional. I revisited recently and truly appreciated the updated equipment. There are multiple avenues to reach your fitness goals. The team was professional and knowledgeable. Fantastic facility. 👍🏻👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾…
Don't bother wasting your time here. I arrived at 6:30 am on a weekday and the gym was closed. The parking lot was full of people waiting. Judging by other reviews, this seems to be a common occurrence. Often the showers are out of order, and the women's bathroom only has two working stalls. It appears that the manager or owner is not too concerned, as these issues persist. Personally, I would prefer to pay a higher fee for a gym with reliable hours and facilities that are in good working order.
Aye, this gym is a great find for those on a budget. However, I'd recommend showing some love to the YMCA... just sharing my two cents. Ultimately, just get your workout in wherever works for you, mate. Cheers!
I was dreadfully let down by the lack of guidance and assistance from the staff. I phoned in and the trainer initially informed me that she was leaving and not taking new appointments, but advised me to come in and she would assist me. I arrived at the agreed-upon time, only to find that she had no recollection of our conversation two days prior. Shortly thereafter, they started taking appointments again until she left (same trainer), and I managed to secure one. However, upon arriving at the scheduled time, she stood me up because she had been promoted to a different position. There was no courtesy call to cancel, and when questioned, she mentioned that she had been promoted the day before my appointment and was too occupied to notify me. I inquired if she could at least provide advice on which machines might be gentler on certain joints since we hadn't met, but she stated it was beyond her new job scope and added that staff couldn't respond to such inquiries due to gym liability concerns. Ultimately, I decided to terminate my membership.
I popped in to inquire about membership details and info and whatnot. There was this bloke who seemed to fancy himself quite the charmer, spending his entire time chatting up the lass behind the front desk instead of helping me out. All I wanted was a swift peek around the gym and locker rooms. The lady at the counter mentioned she couldn't leave her post, but I was free to wander and suss things out on my own. This chap just wouldn't quit, blabbing on and on, offering to give me the grand tour—I half expected him to try and tag along into the women's locker room, for crying out loud.
In the end, I decided to go with a membership at the Y instead— the staff there are much friendlier, far more attentive, and a female member even took the time to show me around and answer all my questions. She even helped me pick out a decent locker.
On top of that, the Y has a sauna...
This is the 3rd or 4th Sunday that Planet Fitness has not been opening on time in the morning. Their sign indicates that they are supposed to be open from 7 am to 7 pm. It is now 7:45 am on Sunday, and the gym is still closed with nobody inside. There is a parking lot full of waiting customers, but not a single staff member has arrived to open the gym. This situation is quite frustrating as it is my only opportunity to work out before heading to work, and I often don't make it in time before they close early. Other disgruntled individuals have also left notes on their door on Sundays regarding the poor time management.
I must say, I am terribly let down by the new gym spot at the mall. The fresh area is quite petite and tight. The machinery is all squished together, leaving hardly any room to stretch on the floor. Moreover, the equipment isn't new at all. It's the same old faulty gear that never seems to get mended from the original place. The staff can often be spotted behind the front desk playing on their phones when they should be busy cleaning the dusty gear and locker rooms. It seems the novel locale doesn't have air conditioning either? With the warmer weather now here, the gym has been excessively hot and emitting a putrid odor most days. I truly wish there was another reasonably priced gym nearby to switch to instead of this one.
Honestly, the gym is quite splendid with a plethora of equipment, yet the operational hours are utterly dreadful. They close rather early on the weekends, and the gym personnel tends to hustle you out quite promptly. Should you labor on the weekends, then best of luck fitting in a workout.
They frequently run low on paper towels and it's nearly impossible to cancel your membership here, so if you do decide to sign up, make sure to cancel before relocating out of state.
My membership didn't transfer to a different state despite informing them beforehand, yet they continued to charge me.
Despite sending a letter days prior to the monthly auto payment, the charges are still going through, but my bank will handle it.
