This place is absolutely brilliant. I’m a complete beginner in jujitsu and I’ve been discussing with my mate for ages about giving this place a go for training. Rodrigo is top notch, no pushy vibes whatsoever, but it was clear to me that this was the spot where I not only wished to learn due to the wealth of expertise available, but also I immediately felt like I belonged, something that's hard to come by. Just signed up at the new Jiu Jitsu academy in Agoura Hills, run by Professor Rodrigo Carvalho, a 5th degree black belt. The mat space is massive, with a great mix of friendly members across all belt levels, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Just got back from my trip to SoCal and I was unsure about bringing my bulky gi, but boy am I glad I did! My experience at Akxe was absolutely amazing. Professor Rodrigo has really cultivated a fantastic environment there. From the moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted, given a tour of the facilities, and learned about the Fight for a Kid Project. The training session that followed was top-notch, with excellent technique and some tough rolls. Counting down the days until I can visit again!

Amazing training here. Rodrigo is truly dedicated and stays behind to ensure everyone is giving their all during sparring sessions. That in itself is priceless. If you're looking to simply pay for a membership and progress slowly towards a belt, there are plenty of other martial arts schools in the area. However, if you're seeking to be challenged, pushed to your limits, and improve significantly, this is the place to be.

I can not emphasize enough how fantastic this gym is. The staff are helpful, welcoming, and derive great pleasure from imparting their skills. I began not too long ago and every time I step through the door, the staff make me feel like a longstanding member. The other students are also extremely gracious, friendly, and welcoming.
