I must say, this YMCA in the DC metro area is quite bustling. The main attraction here is definitely the year-round swimming pool, although the gym sees its fair share of activity as well. That's pretty much where the positives end, aside from the generally friendly staff.
Like others have mentioned, this establishment is well past its prime as a top-notch club and is in desperate need of a complete makeover - from the aging gym facilities to the pool area, locker rooms, and overall atmosphere.
The lockers are woefully inadequate, with little space to maneuver or even sit down. Access to the pools involves navigating through the showers on slippery tiles - accidents waiting to happen, I tell you.
The pools are often overcrowded, leaving minimal space for lap swimmers, especially during peak times. To make matters worse, nearly half of the indoor pool area is typically occupied by swim classes, creating cramped conditions for everyone else!
The hot tub/jacuzzi is tiny compared to the number of eager users vying for a spot.
As I mentioned earlier, the primary allure of this place lies in its swimming pools, and members must tolerate all these inconveniences just to get a chance to take a dip during the winter months!

This spot is perfect for the whole family. Three pools (including two indoor ones), a gym, tennis courts, and even a daycare service to watch over the little ones while you get your workout in. It was all fantastic before the pandemic hit. The parking is convenient, and the staff is mostly friendly. There's a diverse mix of people but the staff are quick to assist if any problems arise. They've implemented a lot of health and safety protocols now which is reassuring. It feels secure.

The value for money is pretty disappointing, to be honest. The facilities are decent, but they're not exactly cutting-edge considering the prices they charge. The pools are okay, but they're not particularly large or luxurious. Dealing with some of the members can be a bit challenging at times. I recently became a member and I'm already having second thoughts. On the bright side, it's a month-to-month membership, but on the downside, there's a one-time fee of about $300 to access the pool. I've never encountered so many fees at a YMCA before, which wouldn't be a problem if it felt worth it.

The gym is quite lovely, and most of the staff are friendly. However, one notable drawback is the pool. Securing a free lane for swimming can be a challenge, but the odor? It's musty and unpleasant, especially considering I bring my children along! The tiled floor appears to have gone without professional cleaning for quite some time, and honestly, I question the ventilation in that area.

I must say, the three pools and the hot tub are quite delightful. However, it wouldn't hurt to spruce up the locker rooms and showers a bit. And let's not forget about those mischievous kids throwing objects into Pool A - the lifeguards should really keep a closer eye on that. Additionally, they could do a better job assisting those with disabilities to ensure everyone can have a safe and pleasant workout experience.

WARNING: POTENTIAL FRAUDULENT CHARGES - PLEASE BE AWARE. If you are considering joining this non-profit organization, it may be advisable to monitor your accounts closely. I recently contacted this branch with the intention of becoming a member upon my return to the state (as I am currently residing elsewhere temporarily). The representative assured me that she would enroll me to secure the current membership rate, with the understanding that I could formally complete the membership process upon my return. While providing my card details, I was assured that no charges would be made until I confirmed my membership.
To my surprise, a week later, an unauthorized charge appeared on my account. Despite apologies from the representative and assurances of a refund within 2 business days, I found myself still waiting after 2 weeks with no sign of reimbursement. Attempts to reach out via email went unanswered until I managed to contact another representative who informed me that refunds were now taking up to 10 weeks. Expressing my concern over these unauthorized charges, I insisted on an immediate refund, only to receive promises of expedited processing.
Today, I discovered yet another unauthorized charge on my account. This repeated occurrence is deeply troubling, and I can't help but wonder if others may be facing similar issues without realizing it. Should the organization fail to return my funds promptly, I will have no choice but to escalate this matter as potential fraud.

On Christmas Eve at 6 am, the time that had been announced weeks in advance for the opening, I arrived excitedly at the non-profit organization only to find no one there to welcome us. Along with a group of others, we waited in our cars patiently, but as time went by with no sign of anyone arriving, our disappointment grew. Eventually, after waiting for what seemed like an eternity, we all sadly gave up and left. It was a frustrating and disheartening experience.

Lovely pools and excellent swimming lessons. The staff is typically pleasant. However, a few lifeguards may not be as understanding when it comes to children with developmental disabilities, even after being politely approached by their parents. Sadly, there are some adult and senior citizen members who have shown insensitivity and rudeness, particularly in the men's locker room. While this behavior is not sanctioned by the organization, management's attempts to reinforce the Y's inclusive values to members have not yielded significant results.

Our experience with the private swim lesson program at this non-profit organization was less than satisfactory. The initial instructor we were assigned canceled 3 out of 5 sessions, and on the last occasion, failed to show up without prior notice of cancellation. The replacement instructor, though excellent, also occasionally canceled classes and later informed us of her departure from the organization due to personal reasons. The pool was consistently overcrowded during our lessons, making it difficult to effectively learn to swim with numerous group classes taking place simultaneously. After completing our six-pack of lessons, we decided to discontinue our enrollment at the organization and have since found a more suitable facility where we are much happier.
