Dreadful top brass, so money-grabbing, and dreadful customer service.

The gym can be a bit expensive, but I have no trouble bringing my entire family for a swim. The swimming instructor was fantastic - she had a cancellation and ended up teaching my 6-year-old to swim in just an hour! Even though we're still waiting for our turn on the list, she took the time to help my son. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the gym has a great family atmosphere. I absolutely adore it.
Alice Richardson (6/12/25, 2:49 PM):
I absolutely adore this gym! I was a loyal member of Defined Fitness for many years. However, I became weary of it being constantly overcrowded and feeling like a carnivorous market. The team here is top-notch, the equipment is impeccably clean, and the range of weights to cardio is superb. The facilities are fantastic. It may be pricier, but you truly get value for your money here.
Bradley Thompson (6/11/25, 8:43 PM):
My son brought his mate along as a guest (paying cash) and not even 10 steps after signing the waiver, this mate took a tumble due to the unmarked step between the lobby and the indoor track. His toe got so banged up that it took him a good five days before he could even put weight on it. Watch out for that step, mate! Since then, my son has seen other folks tripping over it as well. They should really stick some bright yellow caution tape on that step. Some accidents can be avoided, you know, and this seems like one of those situations, I reckon.
Douglas Coleman (6/9/25, 5:48 PM):
We signed up for the family plan and after about six months of being members, they actually pulled my wife out of a class and informed her that the daycare couldn't look after our youngest son because he wouldn't stop crying. We decided to stop going because of this issue, despite having accumulated six months' worth of gym memberships that we hadn't used. When we originally signed up, we were told there was no contract. However, their collection department later called me demanding nearly $1,000. I tried to negotiate some kind of payment plan, but they rudely demanded the full amount as if it were owed to them, even though we hadn't utilized their services at all. They didn't make us feel welcome at their gym whatsoever. I must say, they have a very dedicated team when it comes to collecting money, sending accounts to collections, and not hesitating to impact your life over a gym membership. I was just fortunate enough to be in a position to pay the $900+ to settle these charges for services I never used. Be cautious when considering signing up with this gym!
Nicole Hughes (6/6/25, 4:29 PM):
I absolutely adore this gym! The staff are always so lovely, there are loads and loads of workout machines, two swimming pools, fantastic classes AND the atmosphere is just so friendly and impeccably clean!
Margaret Bailey (5/27/25, 7:33 AM):
The club is absolutely spotless and there's no whiff of a musty locker room. The trainers really know their stuff and the classes have been top-notch. There's always some cool event happening too. I genuinely look forward to my visits.
Martha Clark (5/22/25, 11:06 PM):
They 'ave a lot more than just weights and a pool. My grandchild 'ad swimmin' lessons with one of the instructors and I'm very pleased with 'ow it went. Worth the money for all that the place 'as!
Theresa Ramirez (5/21/25, 11:52 PM):
There are loads of gyms in Albuquerque that are more affordable than Sports and Wellness. They may offer a plethora of amenities, which is great, but if you're not going to take advantage of them, what's the point of shelling out that kind of cash? It just doesn't add up.
Speaking from personal experience, I'd suggest exploring other gyms before locking yourself into this one.
Randy Garcia (5/21/25, 3:44 PM):
I recently signed up at Riverpoint and I must say, the service provided by Scott was absolutely top-notch. His customer service skills were outstanding and he even made sure to apply a military discount for me. I am really excited about my membership and I will definitely be recommending Scott to all my friends and family. Cheers!
Stephanie Ross (5/19/25, 1:24 PM):
The club and equipment are kept in top-notch condition. I appreciate the cozy atmosphere of the place. The trainers really know their stuff.
Donald Hayes (5/17/25, 2:40 PM):
Absolutely love this Athletic club! The staff is fantastic and the trainers are top-notch!
Kelly Anderson (5/17/25, 12:09 AM):
Riverpoint Sports and Wellness is a waste of time. I signed up and paid my monthly fee only to receive a GIFT CARD that I misplaced and couldn't find for some time. Eventually, I stumbled upon it and decided to visit Riverpoint Sports and Wellness at Coors. Upon explaining my situation to the manager, she rudely informed me that the Gift Card had expired as it had been more than 3 months. I tried to reason with her, explaining that I had just found the Gift Card after misplacing it, but she was unhelpful and disrespectful. Save yourself the trouble and avoid Riverpoint Sports and Wellness at 9190 Coors Blvd. There are much better fitness gyms out there. I certainly won't be returning.
Patrick Walker (5/13/25, 7:16 PM):
The staff at some of these places can be a bit snooty, don't you think? It's a real shame that young folks these days seem to lack those good old-fashioned face-to-face skills and top-notch customer service. I've only been to a couple of the Sports and Wellness spots in Abq myself. The Del Norte spot, now they've got some lovely employees there, I must say. They even threw in some extra perks for me when I signed up, all related to bringing along my family members as guests. But then there's Riverpoint - my son has only tagged along with me twice, mind you - and they always give me grief. They refuse to honor my free pass and make me fork over some cash instead. It's a right pain, isn't it, how there's no consistency from one location to the next?
Susan Martin (5/13/25, 2:51 PM):
Dodgy. That's the best way to describe them. The personal training is a con....the prices are outrageous and the sessions are always being cut short by 10-30 minutes without fail. The folks in accounting are right cheeky. They've overcharged me multiple times and no one can seem to sort it out. They keep mentioning some accounting department in Colorado that deals with everything, but good luck trying to reach them. I still haven't heard back from the Albuquerque GM or the River Point GM.
Roger Hernandez (5/13/25, 11:45 AM):
Definitely the top-notch athletic and wellness facility in Albuquerque, I must say! Nevertheless, it wouldn't hurt to spruce up the outdoor turf area a bit. A good power wash or a thorough vacuuming could do wonders in clearing out those pesky weeds and goat heads that tend to congregate where the tires usually come to rest.
Justin Russell (5/8/25, 3:48 PM):
This fitness center has the loveliest staff! Group workouts are a blast and the trainers are so inspiring! No criticism, only support! Even those new to working out can step onto the gym floor and feel at ease!
Sara Alexander (5/5/25, 8:19 PM):
I absolutely enjoy my gym sessions at this club. There's a wide variety of machines that suit my preferences and it's never too crowded. The staff are fantastic! Justin will make sure you're all set up and ready to go. Don't forget to mention my name when you see him! Cheers!
Gloria Taylor (5/4/25, 8:04 AM):
I just wanted to share my thoughts on the current situation at Riverpoint following the COVID shutdown. I've been hitting up Riverpoint almost every day since it reopened a few weeks back. I make use of both the cardio room and the weight machines on the main floor. Initially, I was a bit hesitant about returning, unsure of how comfortable I'd be. However, I must say, I've been impressed with the efforts Riverpoint has made to create a clean and safe workout environment.
Before entering the gym, a staff member checks everyone's temperature using a touchless thermometer. At check-in, we're provided with a spray bottle of disinfectant and a towel to wipe down the machines we use. In the cardio room, every other machine is out of order to ensure proper distancing. The crowd is usually sparse enough to maintain even more space between users. On the main floor where the weight machines are located, the number of people can vary depending on the day and time. There have been instances where I've avoided certain machines due to overcrowding, but this hasn't been a common occurrence. I can always find an alternative machine with fewer or no people nearby and return to the ones I skipped once the area clears out.
Overall, I find that the spacing at Riverpoint is sufficient and makes me feel safe. Not many people wear masks, though I personally would consider wearing one during weight workouts for added comfort, particularly when it's busier. I've only encountered one person who didn't clean the machines they used – perhaps their mom always did it for them. Everyone else seems diligent about sanitizing their equipment, and the cleaning staff is consistently disinfecting machines throughout the gym. I'm unsure what more Riverpoint could do to ensure safety and cleanliness. Their protocols have gone above and beyond my expectations, and I'm delighted to be back in my workout routine.
Bobby Morris (5/3/25, 2:48 PM):
How can you charge the full price and still hold kids camp, while half of your amenities aren't even available? As a 20-year member, I find it completely unacceptable to pay full price for only a fraction of the services. Instead of solely focusing on profits, perhaps consider reducing the monthly fees. By charging less, more members might be encouraged to continue using the gym during this challenging period of COVID-19, instead of feeling like they are being overcharged.
