The gym is well-equipped and maintained, but the pricing is on the higher side. Following Governor Grisham's mask mandate, the staff at DF Socialist Society made attempts to enforce it, but lacking in customer service skills, they could come across as rude and may ask you to leave if you don't comply. Manager Anthony, in particular, seemed to harbor animosity towards certain individuals. I, for one, had a negative experience when trying to re-start my membership post-mandate. Despite following the rules, Anthony prevented me from re-joining at the gym's location and even threatened to kick me out if I returned, due to our previous interactions. This left me feeling targeted for expressing my preference for breathing clean air. Hopefully, this feedback provides insight for those thinking of revisiting this gym.

I brought my friend with me to the gym, even though she doesn't have a membership. I wanted her to experience it with a free trial. The staff at the front desk kept her ID while we worked out. After our workout, as we went to retrieve her ID, the club manager abruptly took it from the desk attendant and informed us that she needed to pay a $20 drop-in fee. I mentioned that she was supposed to have a free trial, but the manager insisted that she didn't qualify for it. It was really embarrassing, and this gentleman held her ID as hostage until she paid the unexpected fee. They are quite sneaky over there!

My partner and I have been part of Defined Fitness for more than ten years. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, we decided to pause our membership to prioritize our safety and that of our community. It was disheartening to discover that after a three-month suspension, Defined Fitness would start charging $10 per person per month to keep our memberships on hold. As a company focused on promoting health and well-being, one would expect the Executive Management team to support members in returning at their own pace. Consequently, we have opted to terminate our membership and seek fitness opportunities elsewhere.
Russell Williams (6/13/25, 6:31 PM):
Today was my initial workout after enrolling at Defined Fitness. I typically engage in running (completed 15 marathons), but decided to test out a gym for some cross-training. I was intrigued by the offer of a complimentary trainer at Defined Fitness, although scheduling one proved to be quite challenging as availability was over two weeks out. Additionally, I was disappointed to find that several of the treadmills were not functioning properly - on one machine, the increase speed button would only work if pressed in a precise manner. Furthermore, the gym did not provide towels, leading to a situation where individuals would leave machines covered in sweat. In all honesty, I find running along the river trails to be a far more enjoyable experience compared to my visit to this particular gym. Perhaps Riverside Sports and Wellness may offer a superior alternative?

I frequently visit this gym six days a week. The staff are really kind and always ready to help. It can get quite busy at certain times of the day, so it's a good idea to ask when the best times are to come in order to avoid the crowds. I am particularly grateful that this gym has an arm bike, which I use to assist with my recovery from rotator cuff surgery a couple of years ago. It has been tremendously helpful for me.
Keith Kim (6/9/25, 12:59 PM):
First time visiting this gym spot. I was informed that day passes weren't available and my daughter had to purchase a membership for $99 before entering. We're not locals and simply sought a day pass. Regrettably, it seems like defined fitness prioritizes profit over customer satisfaction.
Kathleen James (6/6/25, 3:39 PM):
Defined Fitness is typically a fantastic gym. Nonetheless, the facilities at this location seem to be lacking. I've noticed that a significant number of their stair steppers have been out of order for over a year, and it took them more than 6 months to repair the sole hip thrust machine. It can be quite frustrating trying to work out when the machines are not functioning properly, especially during peak hours.
Olivia Allen (6/6/25, 1:52 PM):
The Staff at this gym are absolutely top-notch, mate. They're proper dedicated and take their job seriously. Always keeping the place spick and span, which is brilliant! And let me tell ya, they saved my bacon when they helped me retrieve my AirPod from the stair master. I'm mega thankful I didn't have to fork out for a 3rd pair! Cheers, lads!
Nicole Hughes (6/3/25, 12:01 PM):
The gym is not a place I would recommend to anyone. The equipment is old and dirty, and the staff are not to be trusted. When I tried to cancel my membership, they made it incredibly difficult. I called them on the phone, but they insisted I had to come in person to sign paperwork. Little did I know, I was only canceling my auto-pay, not my actual membership.
After a few months, I was shocked to receive an email from a debt collector demanding $487. I called the gym to explain the situation, but they claimed they had no record of me canceling. I refuse to pay them a single penny and will fight this unjust charge. It's no wonder new laws have been put in place to make canceling gym memberships easier, as places like these take advantage of their customers.
Megan Diaz (5/31/25, 5:17 PM):
Fantastic facilities and ambiance. The muscular chap with arm ink who is part of the team can be a tad standoffish, not exactly radiating warmth and hospitality. I've had a few encounters with him where he was adamant about his off-duty status and employment at the gym, and I must say, his demeanor was rather brusque. Thankfully, the rest of the staff is absolutely wonderful!
Jeffrey Peterson (5/30/25, 6:52 AM):
I used to frequent this gym more often in the past. I've been a loyal member since the club opened its first establishment. I have observed significant changes, some positive and others quite perplexing. My spouse and I used to visit on Sundays for a workout and a swim, which we found quite delightful. The steam room, sauna, and pool were top-notch amenities, with the steam room standing out as the best in town. It was truly exceptional.
However, things have taken a turn now. The steam room is currently out of service, and the whirlpool is frequently unavailable. Many members, including myself, are bewildered by the closure of the steam rooms. They were a major attraction and highly beneficial for one's well-being. Those who previously enjoyed the steam room now find themselves cramming into the already crowded dry sauna.
Joe Rodriguez (5/27/25, 6:56 AM):
Great variety of gym equipment available, especially the squat racks. There is a limited selection of indoor bikes in the cardio section, but fear not! You can take advantage of the spacious cycling room when classes are not in session. A guest pass is priced at $20 and grants access for a full 24 hours. Pro tip: If you plan on visiting the gym twice, ensure the second visit falls within 24 hours of your first to maximize your pass!
Angela Sullivan (5/23/25, 8:21 PM):
I pop in 'ere every day, mate, but ya gotta sort out that older lady. I enjoy me workouts in the rear room and never 'ad any issues. She waltzed in, clear as day she wanted me out so she could start cleanin'. I moved to the other room, and her and one other started swearin', talkin' smack about a fellow employee. I was proper gobsmacked and left altogether. Never 'ad an experience like this in the three years I've been comin'. It's one thing to be upset, but it's a completely different thing to be unprofessional. Just bonkers and downright disrespectful. I reckon the other bloke didn't appreciate it either. We were both a bit taken aback, to be honest.
Betty Campbell (5/19/25, 7:50 PM):
I perused the testimonials and was hesitant to raise a concern about the pool's chilly water situation today. I gathered from the reviews that certain memberships got axed due to complaints, but I decided to go ahead regardless. A little over an hour ago, I conversed with DeShaun, who assured me he would investigate the matter and get back to me. I don't think DeShaun is a manager, but apparently, he's the MOD for today. The pool felt uncomfortably frigid, making it impossible for me to plunge in, so I retreated to the changing room, got dressed, and headed home, now eagerly awaiting a callback, hoping they won't terminate my membership.
Abigail Powell (5/19/25, 11:25 AM):
This particular fitness center is somewhat smaller compared to the one on Juan Tabo, however, it is noticeably more pristine.
Emma Kim (5/18/25, 10:34 PM):
I mostly frequent the San Mateo gym because it's conveniently located near my workplace. However, every now and then I find myself here in the evenings as it's close to my abode. It tends to get outrageously crowded, as one would expect... but there are a few things that are simply unforgivable given the price point. There are no complimentary towels, the aroma in the men's locker room consistently resembles a landfill (and it's not just due to it being a gym; the other specified locations don't have this problem), and equipment is frequently out of order. I've paid far less at other gyms and received far more in return... However, I'm stuck in that darn year-long commitment because I recalled the Farmington site being top-notch.
Paul Morales (5/17/25, 7:04 PM):
I've been hitting up this gym for a good seven years, but I finally threw in the towel and called it quits. The only reason I'm giving it a couple of stars is because of the awesome class instructors; otherwise, it would definitely be a one-star situation. The hygiene situation is just abysmal. The workout gear looks like it's been around since the Dark Ages despite the hefty membership fees... I could keep ranting, but I'll spare you the details. It's crystal clear that this gym's standards are on a downward spiral. Seems like they care more about their bottom line than us, the members.
Olivia Brooks (5/16/25, 5:50 PM):
I have had a right mess with this gym, I tell ya! They keep takin' more money from me each month, a whopping 118 quid! I've been in there countless times to speak with the bloke in charge, but it's like talkin' to a brick wall! Been tryin' to get hold of corporate since December, mate, and still no luck. Sent emails, made calls, left messages - the lot! Don't bother goin' there if you want any help, waste of bloody time it is!
Lucy Martin (5/15/25, 9:53 AM):
Absolutely fantastic gym, big shoutout to the early risers who make up the morning crew.
Russell Nelson (5/11/25, 12:17 PM):
Sami, the General Manager, and his team were incredibly helpful and polite. The gym is spotless with a fantastic selection of equipment.
