Amenities at LA Fitness

Once inside, members can take advantage of the basketball court, swimming pool, and sauna – although many patrons have reported that the sauna has been out of order for several months, creating some frustration among regulars.

The overall atmosphere at LA Fitness is often praised, with many visitors noting the friendly staff and welcoming environment. One member stated, “The staff is always friendly and helpful, creating a positive experience while working out.” On the contrary, it’s worth mentioning that some guests feel there’s a strong push for memberships and personal training packages, which can be off-putting for those simply wanting to work out.

Membership Experience

While the membership options can seem appealing — including promotions that boast significant savings such as *“31% cheaper”* — some customers have expressed confusion regarding pricing structures and hidden fees. Potential members should ensure they fully understand the terms before committing. It's important to know that membership is required to access the various amenities, including the pool and sauna.

Challenges and Areas for Improvement

Despite the numerous benefits, LA Fitness in Addison faces several challenges. Many customers have pointed out that equipment is frequently left unorganized, with weights scattered across the gym floor. Moreover, some report that machines are often broken, which hampers the overall workout experience. There are also complaints regarding the cleanliness of certain areas, with one visitor mentioning mold and poorly maintained showers.

In addition, issues related to guest service have surfaced, particularly regarding communication and responsiveness from staff when addressing concerns or inquiries. While many staff members receive kudos for their friendliness, inconsistent experiences can sometimes tarnish the overall impression of customer service.

Conclusion

In summary, LA Fitness in Addison, IL, presents a mix of strengths and weaknesses. With a focus on community and accessibility, along with a variety of amenities, it can serve as a great place for both novice and experienced fitness enthusiasts alike. However, potential visitors should keep in mind the importance of reviewing membership terms and being prepared for varying levels of service and cleanliness.

Whether you're drawn by the basketball court, the swimming pool, or the potential for a supportive fitness community, it’s essential to plan your visit accordingly. With careful consideration, you might just find that this gym meets your needs.

I absolutely adore XSport Addison! The staff is top-notch, the personal trainers are fantastic, and the spa is a delightful addition for unwinding and recuperating. Participating in X-It classes in a group setting is truly inspiring. The variety of classes included in the membership truly add value to the overall workout experience that XSport provides.

I was searching for a gym in the local area and stumbled upon 3 options to explore before making my decision. Upon visiting XSport in Addison, I didn't feel the need to visit the other two. XSport boasts a team of professional staff who maintain a spotless facility. The manager, Brian, kindly provided me with a complimentary 7-day pass and offered valuable assistance in securing the best membership rate with access to numerous amenities, of which there are plenty on offer here. The gym is impressively spacious, ensuring it never feels overcrowded. With features like 2 saunas, a whirlpool, pool, and a large locker room equipped with massage chairs and state-of-the-art cryotherapy, XSport truly has it all. I am thrilled to have discovered this club and sincerely appreciate Brian's exceptional service. Keep up the fantastic work!

I would rate this gym 4 out of 5 stars because they offer a wide variety of amenities, however, I was disappointed to find out that they do not have a steam room. The facility is very clean and well-lit, with no broken equipment, and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

I decided to give this location a try after having a negative experience at the gym on Finley in Downers Grove. That gym was consistently dirty, especially the men's locker room, had broken equipment, and poor lighting on the weight floor upstairs.

I popped into this place to inquire about their complimentary seven-day pass offer, only to find myself being pushed by a chap named Chris to sign up for a membership that he preferred, not the one I had in mind for myself! Left feeling rather let down and quite uneasy as he failed to assist me in securing the membership that I actually desired. Furthermore, I wasn't provided with details regarding the free pass that had piqued my interest as I had misplaced the mailer they sent me. The employee was incessantly phoning me and leaving voicemails about gym visits, but that was all before this incident occurred. Quite bothersome, I must say! Enough with the relentless pursuit of money! I shall seek out a different gym where I feel more valued!

The body fat percentage chart provided here following a consultation with a fitness manager is not in line with the WHO (World Health Organization) guidelines. The XSport gym in Addison, among others, utilizes their own chart as a key indicator of health within their personal training program standards. This is akin to the concept of BMI. Personal trainers will offer specific data tailored to your body, which may differ from other organizations or body types. Sit-downs with a manager for personal training sessions can last over 45 minutes, especially if they aim to secure your commitment. Otherwise, you may be treated with condescension. It appears that because of my size, they assume I have never engaged in physical activity before. Being overweight doesn't equate to being uninformed. No, I am not new to the gym or these concepts. I might be large, but I am not uneducated. Let's not presume that those with a larger physique haven't experienced weight fluctuations in the past. I doubt the same question would be posed to a slimmer individual.

Even though I've been frequenting this gym since its opening (and I previously attended the Elmhurst location, which was even worse), I must give it a low rating.

The roof leaks in various areas, ceiling covers are missing, and it's worth noting that this location just reopened after undergoing "remodeling".

The equipment is of good quality, and everything appears relatively clean. Additionally, the staff seem quite laid-back, so no issues there.

I attempted to downgrade my membership to only include this location since it's right down the street. However, they tried to charge me $200 for enrollment fees, haha. They claimed it was because when I initially signed up, I didn't pay them due to taking advantage of their $1 sign-up promotion. Well, that's not my fault.

In general, I would recommend this location, but don't anticipate a top-notch five-star gym experience. Consider it more like a larger Express location.
Dorothy Anderson (4/21/25, 6:06 AM):
I remember the first time I visited this gym, it was in late July with my best friend and her two younger sisters, the youngest of whom is a seventeen-year-old high school student (who looks quite young for her age). We started off running on the treadmills together, but then split up to do our own workouts. As I finished my run and wiped down my machine with a paper towel, I noticed a tall employee with dreadlocks, who I had seen at the front desk when we arrived, approaching my best friend's younger sister.

Walking past them, I could tell she was feeling uncomfortable as he asked for her phone number and even her social media accounts. After that encounter, the four of us decided to leave the gym. It's concerning to see an employee at a local gym behaving inappropriately towards a minor. My best friend's sister now feels uneasy about working out alone or even walking around the gym by herself. Despite reporting the incident to multiple employees and managers, no action has been taken against the employee involved.

This spot ain't too shabby bein' all fresh an' whatnot, but I'll be hornswoggled if Xports don't look dead ringers for them car lots. There's more desks in there than you can shake a stick at, with their associates tryin' to hawk you somethin' left an' right.

And let me tell ya, this place is busier than a one-legged man in a butt-kickin' contest, mornin', noon, and night. Can be a real chore tryin' to squeeze in a workout with all them folks around, and they're short on gear too. Only 3 flat benches to share amongst all them guests, which ain't no shake in my book. Some days, I'm waitin' near half-hour just to snag a spot on one of 'em benches.
Larry Foster (4/18/25, 5:49 PM):
Gym health- This gym has really gone downhill since it opened. The weights are always left all over the floor, not re-racked properly. The equipment is in bad shape, and the changing rooms have graffiti on the lockers and walls. They've even started allowing unsupervised kids to work out there, who just make a mess of everything. It's quite unfortunate.

Guests- If you bring a guest, get ready to wait five minutes while the staff tries to persuade them to join the gym.

Pricing- They claim that buying a one-year membership and getting a free year is 31% cheaper. However, they actually add an extra $118 to the first-year cost and then spread that cost evenly over two years ($21.60 a month for 24 months). It's unclear how this is supposed to be 31% cheaper or how you're getting a free year. None of the gym staff (sales team, sales manager, or general manager) could give me a clear explanation for this misleading sales tactic. If you sign up at any other location, they don't add the extra $118. Honestly, though, I wouldn't recommend this location regardless. They really need some new management.
