Idaho Fitness Factory on State Street: A Comprehensive Review

If you're considering joining a gym in Boise, Idaho, the Idaho Fitness Factory on State Street may have crossed your mind. This fitness center has garnered a mix of reviews and insights, particularly regarding accessibility, membership requirements, and overall gym experience.

Accessibility Features

One of the standout aspects of Idaho Fitness Factory is its commitment to accessibility. The facility boasts a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible car park, making it easy for all members to navigate the gym comfortably. This attention to inclusivity sets a welcoming tone for those who may require special accommodations during their workouts.

Membership Requirement and Pricing

While the gym offers convenient access and a decent selection of equipment, some visitors have expressed concerns about recent changes in membership pricing. Initially attracting members with a low monthly fee of around $15, many gym-goers were surprised by a subsequent price increase, leading to mixed feelings. Despite these changes, some continue to find value in their memberships, particularly given that the facility is open 24 hours.

The Beeping Issue and Equipment Quality

A notable complaint among members is the incessant beeping from cardio machines. Many reported that the constant beeping became overwhelming, detracting from their workout experience. On a positive note, most members agreed that the equipment quality had improved significantly, with many new machines recently installed. However, past issues with broken equipment led to frustration, as some members experienced long waits for repairs.

Facility and Environment

The environment at Idaho Fitness Factory is described as clean and spacious. With multiple rooms available, members can find areas designated for specific workouts or privacy during their sessions. Some reviews indicated the need for better ventilation, with suggestions to improve airflow within the facility. While there are positive remarks about the friendly staff and the gym's overall cleanliness, a few experiences highlighted the importance of staff professionalism. Disappointment arose from interactions with staff who seemed less-than-welcoming.

Overall Experience and Recommendations

In summary, the Idaho Fitness Factory on State Street is considered a good option for those seeking a budget-friendly gym with 24-hour access. However, potential members should weigh the pros and cons. If you prioritize accessibility and a diverse range of equipment, this gym might suit your needs. With membership required and a continuously evolving atmosphere, it's advisable to visit and assess whether this facility aligns with your personal fitness goals. Overall, your experience may vary based on timing and individual expectations, making a firsthand visit essential before committing.

I absolutely adore this gym, it's right around the corner from my place and I can pop in whenever I please as it's open 24 hours a day! The team is incredibly welcoming and always ready to assist with any inquiries you may have. The addition of a children's room is a lovely touch as well.
Stephen Powell (4/30/25, 2:34 AM):
In the world of gyms, it's quite a challenge to envision one superior to IFF. They boast fantastic rates, a pristine and polished gym, and most importantly, an exceptional staff that genuinely prioritizes their members. Discard the mega-gyms, IFF is the place to be.
Jeffrey Martin (4/29/25, 3:59 PM):
Idaho fitness factory is absolutely brilliant! Incredibly clean, fantastic staff, top-notch equipment, and reasonable prices! The fact that they're open 24 hours a day is incredibly convenient, so there's no need to stress about fitting in a workout. I would highly recommend getting a membership here!
Jeremy Simmons (4/28/25, 5:39 PM):
This establishment is forever spotless, the team members are truly respectful and polite. The machinery is constantly well-maintained. Finest gym in Boise!!
Philip Rogers (4/28/25, 1:47 AM):
IFF is like my second home! It's conveniently located near my place and has top-notch facilities! The staff and equipment are superb!
Frank Morales (4/28/25, 12:26 AM):
Brilliant facility! The staff is incredibly helpful and the classes are top-notch. I've been on the hunt for a gym like this for ages!
Beverly Baker (4/25/25, 3:09 PM):
Allowing guests only during staffed hours is a major downside. Additionally, the ventilation at this location is subpar, leading to the emergency exit door being left open during the day. This completely undermines the purpose of having controlled access to the facility, especially since the emergency exit is situated right next to the lockers, which are not inside a restroom.

The equipment is mostly new and in decent condition. So far, I haven't come across any broken items, although there seem to be numerous reviews mentioning that equipment is out of order for extended periods.

During peak times, space is limited, with only a few squat racks available and a relatively small floor area.

Overall, it's a rather average gym. I'm a member mainly due to its convenient location, although I'm considering returning to Axiom in East Boise, despite the 20-minute bike commute, as the lack of physical security at this gym and its proximity to Boise's homeless population are significant drawbacks.

Edit: Given the business's response, it seems clear that emphasizing "for your safety" and then suggesting I close an emergency exit door instead of addressing the issue is a publicity tactic that comes off as insincere.
Charlotte Kim (4/25/25, 4:19 AM):
They made some changes, which is good! But then they raised the price of the membership, which is not so good.

Personally, I'm not too bothered about that, but oh my days, EVERY. SINGLE. THING. In this gym now beeps incessantly. You start any cardio equipment, and you get three jarring high-pitched beeps. You increase speed or incline, and there's a loud beep for every little change.

It's like a symphony of ear-piercing beeps all day, every day. These beeps are so shrill that they cut through even noise-canceling headphones instantly.

For heaven's sake, they need to figure out a way to turn off or at least quieten these beeps. It's just completely bonkers.
Brittany Brooks (4/24/25, 10:02 AM):
The staff are always friendly and welcoming, the gym is super clean, and all for a great price! I highly recommend Idaho Fitness to all my mates.
Ava Jones (4/20/25, 11:29 PM):
The 24-hour access, along with clean washrooms, equipment, fresh towels for wiping down equipment, and a reliable staff, make this place a fantastic gym to lose weight or simply stay in shape. This gym has a cost-effective approach that the average person can afford. That being said, it is one of the top gyms in town, despite lacking a pool or spa area.
Nicholas Davis (4/20/25, 10:27 PM):
I've been thoroughly enjoying my workouts at this gym. The staff has been extremely proactive in maintaining cleanliness during the Covid-19 pandemic, providing patrons with easy access to cleaning supplies such as rags and cleaner. I appreciate the abundance of hand sanitizer available. The fact that it's open 24/7 is a huge plus for me. My only suggestion for improvement would be the addition of rubber plates and deadlift platforms, then I would happily give it a five-star rating.
Bradley Hernandez (4/17/25, 2:24 PM):
Top-notch customer service right there. Always greeted with a smile and I appreciate that. The equipment they have is also top quality.
Jose Murphy (4/16/25, 11:50 AM):
This gym has been absolutely brilliant, the hours are so flexible, the staff is really friendly, and they always go the extra mile to accommodate your needs.
Jack White (4/15/25, 3:26 PM):
Apologies, but the gym is currently closed until further notice as a result of the virus outbreak.
Douglas Davis (4/14/25, 8:45 PM):
I absolutely adore the classes at each and every one of their locations!
Rebecca Price (4/13/25, 1:11 PM):
I just popped into the State Street spot and asked the bloke who assisted me about the membership fees. He wasn't very friendly, almost as if he was puzzled why I'd ask such a question. Gave me a right sour look, he did. I inquired about having a gander around, and he just replied, "Sure, if you fancy." Didn't even offer to show me 'round the place. Had a quick look and then buggered off. Left me feeling a bit off, it did.
Amber Gutierrez (4/13/25, 7:05 AM):
This gym is an absolute bargain for the cost, it is meticulously looked after, spotless, and exudes a secure and encouraging ambiance. As an independent athlete who enjoys working out outdoors or on the ice, Idaho Fitness Factory provides all the amenities necessary to keep me in top shape.
Dorothy Alexander (4/13/25, 1:18 AM):
Amazing gym! Affordable prices, fantastic staff, and fully equipped to help you get in shape and maintain a healthy lifestyle!
Lucy Campbell (4/12/25, 10:52 AM):
I was utterly gobsmacked when I attended the Zoomba class and the instructor had the cheek to diss me, saying I had no rhythm and suggested I try a different class. It really derailed my confidence in losing weight...
Bruce Ramos (4/11/25, 8:15 PM):
This establishment is simply splendid! Not only does my $25 monthly fee grant me access to an array of exercise equipment, but it also includes the use of a top-notch level 3 tanning bed at my leisure. One of the highlights for me is the availability of yoga and Zumba classes. The gym offers complimentary classes for members, or you can utilize the yoga room equipped with a state-of-the-art touch screen system for a private yoga session on a large screen. The best part is that this gym is open 24 hours a day. Without a doubt, this is the finest gym I have ever frequented. Furthermore, there are no binding contracts. Undoubtedly the premier gym in Boise!
