Planet Fitness Concord, California: A Comprehensive Review

When considering a gym, many factors come into play, including accessibility, atmosphere, and essential amenities like showers. Planet Fitness in Concord, California, presents an intriguing option for those looking to start or maintain their fitness journey.

Accessibility Features

Planet Fitness Concord features a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a convenient wheelchair-accessible car park. These accommodations ensure that the gym is accessible for everyone, enhancing the overall experience for all members.

Atmosphere and Culture

The atmosphere at this gym is often described as positive and encouraging. Many members appreciate the non-judgmental vibe, allowing individuals to focus on personal goals without fear of being scrutinized. However, numerous reviews mention overcrowding during peak hours, which can disrupt the desired environment. It’s not uncommon for members to encounter long waits for equipment, particularly during busy times.

Cleanliness and Maintenance

Cleanliness appears to be a significant concern among gym-goers. Multiple reviews point out that the locker rooms, especially the men's, are frequently dirty, leading to an unpleasant experience. Issues such as overflowing garbage cans and inadequate cleaning of showers have been highlighted, with some members indicating that these problems have persisted over time. A lack of attention to cleanliness could deter potential customers.

Membership Requirements

A membership is required to access the facilities, with low-cost plans starting around $10/month. However, some members express frustrations regarding hidden fees and difficulties in cancelling memberships. It’s essential to read the fine print carefully to avoid unexpected charges.

Planning Your Visit

If you plan to work out at Planet Fitness Concord, it’s advisable to visit during off-peak hours to avoid the crowds. Early mornings and late evenings tend to be less busy, making it easier to use the equipment you desire without long waits.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, while Planet Fitness in Concord, California, offers an affordable and accessible gym option with a supportive atmosphere, potential members should consider the cleanliness issues and peak hour overcrowding. It’s a suitable choice for beginners and those seeking a non-intimidating workout environment, but a commitment to cleanliness and equipment availability remains critical for a better overall experience.

While I appreciate your gratitude for the five-star rating, I must deduct a few stars. None of the equipment is connected to the TVs, and the earbuds provided are dysfunctional, leading me to purchase them in vain. The absence of basic amenities like a blow dryer in the women's restroom, which was recently removed by a staff member, adds to the disappointment. The hydro beds also fail to function properly. It is disheartening that despite choosing a higher membership tier, the promised facilities are not up to par. Additionally, the negative attitude displayed by one of your staff members contradicts the notion of a welcoming environment. I refrained from addressing these issues with your team to avoid being perceived as overly critical.

I used to work out at this spot until I stumbled upon the fantastic PF at the Walnut Creek location. This place is full of dust, scattered dumbbells not on the rack, and grimy machines. There aren't any signs of employees tidying up, enforcing PF guidelines, or putting back the dumbbells that lazy folks can't be bothered to do. With some teamwork and collaboration with other PF locations, this place could reach its full potential and become a welcoming space for all gym enthusiasts. Cheers!

On Monday, June 6th at 9 pm, I was working out with two of my girlfriends and we were harassed by this man who proceeded to threaten us for no reason and got into a 14-year-old's face. He went around bothering girls who were alone with no male present. I went to the front desk and informed them, and they told us that they didn't think it was necessary to call the police. There was a female and male staff member working. The employees refused to ask him to leave the gym and tried to blame another girl for supposedly provoking him when everyone was just minding their own business. I didn't ask the employees to kick him out themselves, but I did request that they call the police to have him removed. However, the male employee said no and just wanted to clock out, indicating that our safety was not a priority. He even tried to blame us females, even though we were walking away and the man continued to harass us wherever we went. As women, we should feel safe when we go to the gym to work out. It's disheartening to see that the group of women who were harassed had to come together to protect each other, while the employees told us to leave and did not say anything to the man. They need to do better.

The staff be super friendly and be goin' above and beyond to help with a membership issue even though this ain't me "home" location.

While it definitely gets busy, everythin' be clean, in good shape, and people move around well enough to make it work during peak hours or quieter times. Great value and very handy when it gets too hot to work out outside. Cheers!

I just want to give a big shout out to Yecinia. She is so professional, friendly, and efficient. Because of Covid, I haven't been to the gym in over a year. Yecinia was excellent at guiding me through the new check-in procedures, even helping me set up my guest's app. She also assisted me with using the massage chair. The staff can really make or break a business, and Yecinia is definitely an asset to Planet Fitness.

I was gonna hit the gym. Ended up grabbing lunch instead.
Emma Howard (6/5/25, 2:48 PM):
I've been a member for nearly 9 years now. The gym is great in terms of proximity to my location. However, I am rating it three stars due to some issues such as frequent machine breakdowns, the untidiness of the bathrooms, and a recent incident where a member was hogging two machines simultaneously. Upon requesting to use one of them, he claimed he was still using both.
Samantha Patterson (6/2/25, 12:06 PM):
Always bustling. Dreadful arrangement. Lethargic crew. Filthy changing rooms. Big guys everywhere. EVERY machine is worn out or on the brink of breaking.
Jose Cook (6/1/25, 12:27 AM):
It's a jolly good place to visit, old chap! If you fancy a spot of privacy or feel a bit intimidated, fear not! You can pop in at any hour, 24/7, and they're ever so pleasant there. For a mere $26 a month, you'll have access to massage beds, massage chairs, tanning booths (both stand-up and lay-down options), showers, and all the necessary workout equipment. Oh, but do mind you, there's no swimming pool on site, you'll have to seek that out elsewhere. Nonetheless, it's quite worth the penny, wouldn't you say? Cheers!
Brian Allen (5/31/25, 3:40 PM):
It's a bit basic as far as gyms go, but the price isn't too bad, and I really appreciate the "no judgment zone" atmosphere they've got going on there.
Danielle Murphy (5/30/25, 7:02 AM):
As a committed Planet Fitness member and avid traveler, I love exploring PF locations in various North American cities during my trips. My recent visit to the Concord, California PF was mostly enjoyable. However, I did encounter a minor issue in the 30-minute fitness room where I found it challenging to use the equipment due to three gentlemen hogging the machines without exercising. It would be beneficial for management to regulate the 30-minute express workout area to ensure it's utilized by individuals with the intention of working out within the time limit.

The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making my overall experience positive. Implementing a warm "Welcome to PF" upon arrival and wishing patrons a great day as they leave could further enhance the welcoming atmosphere of the gym.
Dennis Price (5/27/25, 5:13 PM):
I pop by 'ere most days, I do. The blokes and birds on staff are dead friendly, the place is spotless, open round the clock, and I'm chuffed they've just upgraded all the gear!
Grace Gray (5/26/25, 6:26 AM):
It has all the gear you need to keep in shape! I'm a blackcard member, the hydromassage is lovely before and after my workouts.
Alexander Myers (5/25/25, 10:31 PM):
Always a top-notch workout. Fantastic staff. Occasionally you might find a queue, but I was told today they are increasing capacity every few weeks, so queues should soon be a thing of the past.
Willie Campbell (5/25/25, 12:36 AM):
Just enlisted at the Concord branch. Incredibly pristine establishment. The chap who enrolled me was highly informative and gave me a guided tour of the premises. I'm thrilled to start my workout routine there.
Bradley Morgan (5/21/25, 9:06 AM):
I've been a member for nearly 9 years now. The gym is pretty good overall, especially since it's conveniently close to where I live. However, I'm giving it a 3-star rating because there have been a few issues. Some machines keep breaking down, the bathrooms are often messy, and recently there was a guy hogging two machines at once. I wanted to use one of them, but he insisted he was still using both.
Christian Ross (5/20/25, 6:42 PM):
Though the locker rooms and bathrooms could use a bit of cleaning, I must say this place is absolutely brilliant. They've got all the essentials - machines, weights, tanning beds, and they're open 24/7. The staff is also quite friendly.
Anthony Hayes (5/19/25, 12:39 AM):
Absolutely dreadful gym, with terribly impolite staff. Ignore the "Planet Fitness" social media representative, they are utterly useless. They informed me that any problems or concerns with the gym must be addressed with management, and clearly, considering the state of the gym, it is not being managed appropriately. After enduring a year of unclean locker rooms and experiencing sexual harassment, I have decided to terminate my membership. Save yourself the trouble and AVOID PLANET FITNESS at all costs.
Sharon Foster (5/18/25, 9:22 AM):
I believe this gym has air conditioning, which is splendid because my other gym lacks it. There's a great variety of gym equipment and machines, and the space feels quite expansive. However, there are two aspects I'm not too keen on. Firstly, the dumbbells increase in weight by 5 pounds, whereas my other gym has increments of 2.5 pounds, which not only facilitates progression but also enhances safety. Secondly, I was surprised to find only one leg press machine here, considering its popularity among gym-goers. The bathrooms are top-notch, clean, with plenty of showers and lockers available. All in all, I reckon it's a rather splendid gym.
Kathryn Flores (5/17/25, 9:22 AM):
I must say, I was quite thrilled to become a member of Planet Fitness last month with hopes that Walnut Creek would serve as my primary club. However, in a peculiar twist during the sign-up process, I found myself designated to Concord instead. One would think rectifying this error would be a simple task, correct? Alas, it turned out to be quite the ordeal. I have been stuck in a seemingly endless cycle of attempting to transfer my membership, only to discover that the manager at Concord has a reputation for conveniently avoiding such requests. Despite numerous phone calls and visits, I have consistently been met with excuses about the manager's absence due to illness or vacation. I endeavored to seek assistance from the Walnut Creek branch, only to be informed that since Concord operates as a franchise while they are a corporate entity, the resolution must come from Concord itself. It truly shouldn't be this complicated, yet they have managed to make it an arduous task. Frustrated by the hurdles placed before me, I made the difficult decision to cancel my membership before embarking on my fitness journey with them. To compound matters, I was even faced with the prospect of a cancellation fee. My advice would be to steer clear of this establishment, as it appears to be severely mismanaged.
