Derrick has been me personal trainer for a bit over two years now, and he's absolutely brilliant! When I first started working with Derrick, I had never even set foot in a gym before. Over the past couple of years, he has really boosted my confidence both in the gym and in my own strength.
What I appreciate most about Derrick's training is that we never repeat the same exercises. He's always changing it up! We also tackle a wide range of exercises to target different muscle groups simultaneously.

Derrick is clearly an expert at what he does and in the two months I’ve worked with him I’ve seen incredible results. I have worked with a personal trainer before, but Derrick provides a very clear framework and structure to follow. This framework has allowed me to build habits of exercise and diet.
Another thing I appreciate about Derrick is that he meets you where you are and will often remind me if I’m pushing myself too hard. For example, I used to push past my nausea during exercise, but Derrick has taught me to listen to my body and be more intuitive and take more breaks during recovery if needed. I used to not know what my boundaries were in a group fitness class and now I have a much better understanding of what my body is telling me.
Overall, Derrick is extremely encouraging and effective, and I would recommend him to anyone who is committed to making a lifestyle change and just needs an extra push!

I 'ave been trainin' with Derrick nonstop for the last two years and I can say this 'as been one of the most rewardin' experiences of my life. 'E's completely transformed ow I think about food and fitness with a very easy-to-follow diet. 'E uses an app to track yer meals that actually imposes very little burden on yer day-to-day, it takes just a couple seconds when you're eatin' to add the food to the tracker. 'E also taught me a very important lesson that ya can still enjoy all yer favorite foods, ya just 'ave to learn the nutrition in those foods and ow to plan for when ya can enjoy them (aka moderation). The important distinction that Derrick teaches is that ya can calculate moderation, ya just 'ave to stick to the formula.
The workouts are very fun - we get a lot done and 'ave a great time. I've been trainin' twice a week for 1 hour each session. It's truly incredible 'ow much noticeably stronger and fitter I am from stickin' to the workouts. I went from barely bein' able to do a couple lunges two years ago to fun and difficult exercises like flippin' my legs up over my 'ead while just 'angin' from my arms. I've lost almost 100lbs and my blood pressure 'as plummeted. Derrick keeps tellin' me that I've become too strong and I don't need to train as often, but I'm 'avin trouble cuttin' back because I love it so much. Which is totally crazy, the me from two years ago could barely get off the couch and now I get anxious if I've been sittin' around too long. Derrick's the best trainer in DC and 'e's totally changed my life.

I approached Derrick with the goal of increasing my lean muscle mass. Despite being a dedicated gym-goer for years and diligently tracking my body composition, I struggled to pack on significant amounts of lean muscle.
