I absolutely recommend California Diving Academy. My family and I started there a couple of years back when our daughter wanted to switch from gymnastics. The Try-It-Out program was fantastic, giving her a chance to try both water and dry-land activities before fully committing. The coaches have always been kind and supportive, especially when she's trying something new or feeling nervous. Even during COVID, they've been innovative in maintaining safety measures, ensuring the kids can still stay active both in the water and at the gym. The booking system is user-friendly and flexible, making it easy for us to schedule additional learning sessions for her. Plus, the coaches are quick to respond and address any questions or concerns we may have. Our daughter has truly enjoyed her time at California Diving Academy so far!
Eric is not only an outstanding diving coach, but he has also been a mentor to our son. Eric may not be very talkative, but he has a keen eye for observing the children in a well-rounded manner, not just during their time on the diving board. We consider ourselves fortunate to have come across him.
CDA is a remarkable diving program, led by Coach Eric, who is an exceptional coach and individual. He truly grasps the unique needs and objectives of each child and customizes the training accordingly.
My daughter made significant progress in a supportive, secure environment. She was a proficient intermediate diver, on the cusp of advancing to the next level. However, she had hit a plateau and couldn't progress further until she met Eric. Now she has transformed into a more robust, self-assured, and consistent diver. Previously feeling frustrated, she now rediscovers her passion for diving.
The innovative dryland program is outstanding. Coach Eric imparts solid fundamentals, drills, and advanced techniques using dryland boards and trampolines with safety belts. This makes learning new dives enjoyable, stress-free, and secure for beginners. For intermediate and advanced divers, it accelerates the process of mastering challenging new dives and enhancing fundamentals and consistency.
Whether your child is an advanced, intermediate, or novice diver, California Diving Academy is the ultimate destination.
My dawghter belongs to anotha club in Southern California and was avin' difficulties with a couple of dives. The problem was with fear and a lack of access to dryland equipmint to help 'er through the motions. I started lookin' for a location with an experienced divin' coach with access to a well equipped dryland facility that would be able to give 'er private lessons.
I came across CDA in a Google search and saw that the dryland facility 'ad many, if not all, the same equipmint as my local university. After an in-depth conversation and sending videos to Coach Eric, 'e deduced the problem was with fear and that 'e could teach 'er different techniques to help manage it. She 'ad a 2 hour private dryland lesson in a very professional dryland facility and a 2 hour dive session with 'is team every day for 3 days.
I was very impressed with Coach Eric's experience, knowledge, professionalism and care when 'e was teachin' my dawghter. It was a great learnin' experience for 'er as she felt that she learned so much in such a short period of time and that Coach Eric is "an awesome coach". 'is focus on fundamentals and fear management 'elped 'er become more comfortable with the dives.
My 11-year-old son, who has no prior gymnastics experience, expressed interest in trying out diving. We enrolled him in the Try-It-Out program with CDA and quickly discovered that being a gymnast isn't a prerequisite to learning and enjoying this sport. The four coaches we encountered during this short program were exceptional. We completed three pool sessions and one dryland session. Dryland is particularly enjoyable as it allows for skill development without getting wet. With more repetitions and controlled movements, kids don't even realize they're in a gymnastics class (our son would never have willingly signed up for gymnastics). The gym is equipped with diving boards, trampolines, and a belt system to help athletes master jumping techniques.
Our commute to CDA is 40 miles one way, but it has been completely worth it.
My only regret is not getting our son a wetsuit ($40 on Amazon) in time for the first two pool sessions. We are now enrolling him in the regular program.
My offspring 'as been diving with California Diving Academy for a bit over a year and I couldn't be more chuffed. The coaches are proper knowledgeable and work with each athlete to 'elp them achieve their personal goals in a supportive manner, the dryland facility is well equipped and allows for the athletes to safely progress through their diving career, and the other athletes are encouraging to each diver regardless of their level. I quickly saw 'er progress from a child who 'ad never dove to a strong JO diver. I highly recommend this program for anyone who wants to learn to dive regardless of age or experience.
We simply can't praise the coaching team at the California Diving Academy enough. They are incredibly considerate of each child/adolescent's needs and aspirations. Our teen had to navigate a broken foot (unrelated to diving) during their junior and senior years, and Coach Eric played a crucial role in reintegrating them into diving with a challenging yet motivating training program. CAD excels at fostering a warm and supportive community among families and within the team.
Watching expert coaching in action is truly a magical experience. Coach Eric and his team are fully dedicated to their students, regardless of their skill level. My 12-year-old daughter is just starting out, and Coach Eric went above and beyond by spending an extra half hour after class to help her perfect the muscle memory and understand the physics behind a basic back dive. He approaches it all with patience, humor, and determination. Cal Diving offers the guidance, environment, and support for children to learn how to navigate challenges and setbacks, ultimately fostering growth and self-assurance. As a parent, what more could you ask for?
My daughter has been diving with Cal Divers for a year now. She's made tremendous progress during this time. Coach Eric is patient, consistent, and encourages the kids to give their best effort every day. She enjoys the camaraderie with her diving friends. They inspire and support each other to perform at their peak.
CDA and Eric 'ave allowed me to pursue me dreams of bein' a college D1 athlete. Since I started trainin', the coaches 'ave been very supportive and knowledgeable. All the coaches encourage you to give it your best shot, but are never pushy about what you do. Eric truly 'as a passion for divin' and it shows in 'is coachin'. I've 'ad a jolly good time at CDA and 'ave them to thank for me athletic life in college.
My daughter absolutely adores Eric and his squad. She made the switch from gymnastics to diving in her second year, and she is improving by leaps and bounds!
My 14-year old daughter absolutely adores being on the California Diving Academy team, and we couldn't be more delighted with the atmosphere that Coach Eric and his coaching team have cultivated there.
She started with their Try It Out Program and participated in three different groups of kids during the trial. It was immediately evident to us that CDA promotes a warm, inclusive, and welcoming environment. She was met with friendly faces at every session. She had some initial apprehensions about feeling comfortable, but those were quickly dispelled!
What stood out to us about Coach Eric and his team is the priority they place on the complete development of the athlete. We appreciate their holistic coaching approach, ensuring that divers not only learn proper diving techniques but also do so with a healthy mindset.
We questioned whether CDA could provide individual attention to each diver given their large club, encompassing divers at all levels, but we've been astounded by how the coaches work with each diver on a personal level, offering constructive feedback, motivation, and praise for their efforts.
Coach Eric's focus on safety, enjoyment, and proper skill development truly sets him apart as a valuable asset.
My 16-year-old daughter has been diving at California Diving Academy for five months now and absolutely loves it! She was a high-level competitive gymnast before this, and it has been such a perfect transition. She has been able to build on the strength and skills she had from gymnastics and under the care and guidance of Coach Eric, progress quickly in her new sport. She is a high school junior, and Coach Eric believes she can be recruited to dive in college. As she loves her new sport, she is very excited about this and wants to continue as long as possible! Coach Eric has spent considerable time with her not only training her in diving but helping her understand and navigate the college recruiting process as well. He has also found college camps and other amazing opportunities for her this coming summer. My daughter is excited each day to head to practice, and we are so incredibly grateful to have found California Diving Academy!
I 'ave 'ad o'er a 'alf dozen coaches durin' me years divin' in high school and college, an' nobody compares to Coach Eric. I learned so many amazin' practices an' wish I could 'ave started workin' with 'im sooner. If ye are considerin' divin', California Diving Academy will make sure ye become the best diver ye can all while 'avin' fun an' meetin' great people!
