Defined Fitness Capital Club: The Premier Fitness Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico

Located in the heart of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Defined Fitness Capital Club stands out as a top-tier fitness center offering an impressive array of amenities and services to cater to all fitness enthusiasts. With a wide range of facilities including a swimming pool, sauna, and shower facilities, this gym is designed to provide a welcoming and convenient atmosphere for its members.

Amenities Designed for Accessibility

One notable aspect of Defined Fitness is its commitment to accessibility. The gym features a wheelchair-accessible car park, wheelchair-accessible entrance, and wheelchair-accessible toilet, ensuring all members can enjoy the facility without barriers. This thoughtful planning reflects the gym's dedication to inclusivity within the fitness community.

Top-Notch Facilities

Members appreciate the various amenities offered at Defined Fitness. The swimming pool remains a highlight, providing a space for aquatic workouts and relaxation. Meanwhile, the sauna, although it has faced maintenance issues in the past, serves as a popular retreat for those looking to unwind after a rigorous workout. However, there have been reports of the sauna being operational only 60-70% of the time, which could be improved upon for a seamless experience.

Cleanliness and Atmosphere

Defined Fitness Capital Club prides itself on maintaining a clean environment. The locker rooms are generally well-kept, although some reviews have pointed out occasional lapses in cleaning frequencies. In contrast, many members praise the atmosphere of the gym, highlighting the friendly and welcoming staff who strive to make everyone feel at home upon entering. The overall ambiance contributes to a motivating workout experience.

Membership Experience

While membership is required to access the facilities, which some visitors find to be a hassle due to complex sign-up procedures, the majority express satisfaction with the value they receive. Members enjoy a well-equipped gym that balances cardio and strength training equipment to meet diverse fitness goals. However, feedback suggests that peak hours can lead to overcrowding, causing delays in accessing equipment.

Considerations for Potential Members

It’s essential for prospective members to be aware of several recurring concerns. Some individuals have reported frustrations concerning ongoing maintenance issues with certain amenities, like the sauna and the cleanliness of locker rooms. Additionally, the difficulty in canceling memberships without an in-person visit has been a point of contention for some, raising questions about the gym's customer service practices.

Final Thoughts

Despite the challenges mentioned, Defined Fitness Capital Club remains a significant option for those seeking a comprehensive fitness center in Santa Fe. With its facilities designed for accessibility, a variety of amenities, and an inviting atmosphere, it offers a solid foundation for anyone looking to improve their health and fitness. As it navigates the journey of enhancing member experiences, this fitness center continues to be a popular choice among locals and visitors alike.

My first time at the gym and I had a personal training evaluation with Kenyan. Extremely professional, very detailed, and incredibly polite. I would highly recommend it.
Bruce Mitchell (6/14/25, 10:25 AM):
Absolutely spotless facility. The pool is up and running, although the showers are still temporarily unavailable due to COVID protocols as of July 16th. The staff are incredibly warm and welcoming.
Denise Cox (6/14/25, 9:41 AM):
This fitness center seems to have a few issues with their billing and membership cancellation processes. Even after submitting a cancellation form, they continued to attempt charging my account for months, forcing me to involve my bank to block the transactions. Their membership contracts contain shady clauses about freezing accounts and terminating memberships. If you want to freeze your account, you must request it a week before the next billing cycle, and there may still be unexpected charges, including a $10 fee. None of this information is disclosed upon signing up, and they claim it was explained later on, which is simply not true. Dealing with refunds or correcting errors is always a hassle with them, and it seems deliberate. The owners appear to prioritize profits over customer satisfaction. Additionally, their practice of having the owner's daughter greet members in a militaristic and unwelcoming manner is off-putting. It seems unnecessary to greet people if it's done in such a hostile way.
Gerald Cooper (6/13/25, 1:00 PM):
Fabulous spot for a workout! Top-notch equipment and not too packed, although parking can be a bit of a bother.
Helen Hamilton (6/13/25, 7:18 AM):
I used to be quite fond of this gym and have been a loyal member of Defined for years. However, I must say that this particular location is seriously lacking in supervision. There are broken or missing dumbbells, constant disorganization, and both the EZ bars and straight bars have been loose for several months now. Bolts are even coming undone and falling out of other machines and equipment, showing a clear lack of maintenance.

Beyond the equipment issues, the atmosphere is generally unpleasant, with members being rude and inconsiderate. I often find myself searching for dumbbells or benches all over the gym as they've been misplaced. No one seems to be correcting fellow gym-goers for their unsafe behavior or disrespect towards the equipment, but heaven forbid you stay just 5 minutes past closing time – then they'll penalize you.

If it weren't for the recent significant increase in membership fees, I wouldn't be as irked, but the current situation is simply unacceptable.
Robert Wilson (6/5/25, 7:14 PM):
Fantastic gym! Always spotless and the staff are so welcoming. You come in for a workout and leave seeing the results!
Kathleen Wright (6/2/25, 7:18 PM):
I'm updating my initial review regarding some worries I had about the showers not being very clean. Thankfully, it seems like the issue has been sorted out. Thanks a lot!
Maria Campbell (6/2/25, 6:17 PM):
I had a great time visiting this fitness center, but it started to get really busy even in the early mornings and especially at night. Opening a second location in Santa Fe would be amazing. I ended up canceling my membership because I spent so much time waiting for machines to become available. If you're seeking a gym where you can unwind and have your own space, this might not be the best choice as it seems like everyone, including their moms, goes here. Good luck trying to find someone you don't know!
Matthew Price (5/25/25, 2:48 AM):
The gym is pristine, boasting top-notch equipment. The staff is truly exceptional and always ready to lend a helping hand.
Kathryn Anderson (5/22/25, 8:31 AM):
Oh, what a shame it is to have left behind one's headphones! The choice of music was less than inspiring, to say the least. I dare say, our DJ could use a bit of a shake-up in their song selection.
Aaron Hall (5/21/25, 2:43 PM):
This fitness center is top-notch! They've got everything you need, from resistance machines and free weights to hydro massage beds and a heated pool. They've also got sanitizing stations all over the gym and strict Covid-19 guidelines in place. The membership fees are super reasonable, but I have to admit, the personal trainer fees are a bit on the pricey side.
Charles Cook (5/21/25, 1:44 PM):
The best gym I've come across in Santa Fe for an all-around clean experience. The staff is great, although it can get a bit crowded at times. They tend to be quite persistent with their calls, even after you've joined as a member, constantly trying to get you to sign up for more. I must have mentioned it to them at least 20 times, but I still find myself on their marketing list.
Karen Gonzales (5/19/25, 9:30 PM):
The manager is quite unpleasant. The individuals who welcome you upon arrival seem to regard you as though you have greatly inconvenienced them. I visited this establishment for a tour a few months ago, and the previous staff were excellent. The only positive aspect I can acknowledge about this venue is that they maintain cleanliness. Additionally, it appears they are reluctant to utilize the air conditioning system.
Allison King (5/19/25, 7:50 AM):
This fitness center is absolutely fantastic. I was facing some problems with my fitness membership through my health insurance, and they were incredibly supportive in helping me resolve them. The facility is impeccably clean, and the staff is so warm and friendly. I can't recommend it enough!
Brian Davis (5/18/25, 4:40 AM):
What a jolly good gym! The staff is ever so friendly and the place is just splendid. It's quite spacious, so you don't find yourself all squished up with others. The amenities are top-notch and the gym equipment is simply smashing. Cheers to a cracking fitness center!
Johnny Price (5/15/25, 8:07 AM):
I go to the gym and swim here five days a week. My insurance covers my membership, which is great.

They have a wide variety of weights, equipment, and cardio machines. The pool is spotless, heated, and maintained perfectly. The only downside is that the shower area could use some more cleaning.
Cheryl Phillips (5/14/25, 12:58 AM):
Gym is massive! Fantastic range of gear and staff that's super friendly. Loads of spots to sanitize (because of the pandemic) and the team is always on top of cleaning. There's tons of space to keep your distance. Hats off to the Defined crew 👏...
Kelly Kim (5/12/25, 7:15 AM):
Let me be completely honest about this Santa Fe fitness center. I initially joined for the year-round pool, which I have enjoyed. However, the excessively loud music, where the volume suddenly spikes to unbearable levels, overrides my noise-canceling headphones. It is incredibly frustrating, as is the sometimes overwhelmingly loud and thumping playlist. The staff informed me that the music is "solely controlled by corporate headquarters."

Every time I visit this gym for weightlifting, I notice that over 50% of people are wearing headphones. It's unfortunate that the staff cannot adjust the music to a more tolerable level or cater to the diverse music preferences of the members, ranging from older to younger individuals. Why does corporate believe that blasting music enhances our workouts? It makes it challenging to hold conversations and foster a sense of community among fellow gym-goers. The corporate mindset on this issue is quite disconnected.

I have attempted to contact the headquarters multiple times, only to be met with a message stating, "You can't leave a message because the mailbox is full." It seems that they are not interested in engaging with their members. I have found that the Albuquerque facilities, although not all of them, are more willing to listen to feedback.

I am considering canceling my membership, and sharing reviews and word-of-mouth experiences are the only ways to make our voices heard.
Joan Morris (5/11/25, 7:26 PM):
The equipment at this gym is absolutely fantastic. The staff members are truly top-notch - always helpful and friendly. The classes they offer are simply awesome. I can confidently say that I absolutely love this fitness center!
Douglas Carter (5/10/25, 1:59 PM):
This fitness center is an absolute nightmare. I am genuinely contemplating terminating my Defined membership as a result of its current state. To begin with, the sauna is completely out of order. It has been dysfunctional for several months now. Additionally, the absence of scales in the locker rooms is unacceptable. The flooring is deteriorating, and the overall condition of the establishment is subpar. It is imperative that the sauna is promptly repaired, scales are provided in the locker rooms, and the facility is brought up to the standards that we, as paying members, deserve.
