I was quite optimistic when this gym moved from their previous spot, which was quite dim and uninviting. The new location is definitely brighter and seems more modern, but there's room for improvement in the equipment selection. This gym leans heavily towards cardio at 55%, with 30% dedicated to "spa" amenities like tanning beds, leaving only a fraction for weights and open floors. Surprisingly, some of the gear was already showing signs of damage despite the place being newly established.
The men's locker room was spacious and mostly tidy, although the shower curtains could do with a replacement and the shower floors needed some care. My main gripe was that the shower curtains hung too low. At 6ft 2in tall, my head rose well above the shower bar, leaving me feeling exposed and lacking privacy.
In summary, if you're all about cardio and dabble in weights occasionally, this gym could work for you. Otherwise, it might be worth looking elsewhere for your fitness needs.

Today I visited the gym to inquire about a membership. It's in a splendid location, with a delightful and amiable staff, and, crucially, the membership fees are quite reasonable compared to other gyms. I shall definitely be joining.
Sara Hamilton (6/11/25, 2:23 PM):
The staff at this gym are absolutely fantastic, always willing to lend a hand and keep the place spick and span - hats off to them.
However, when it comes to the gym itself, I must say I was rather underwhelmed. The amount of equipment available simply doesn't match the number of members. During my visit, all the Smith machines, benches, and cable machines were occupied. I struggled to even find a spot for some dumbbell curls, and it wasn't even during peak hours!
I found the cable machines, in particular, to be subpar and in desperate need of replacement. Being on the shorter side, none of them had cables long enough for me to properly do lat pull-downs. The assisted pull-up machine was also far from ideal; the attachment would constantly bump into my legs, disrupting my form, and my feet were practically dragging on the ground. Given my height, I can't fathom how someone slightly taller would manage.
In comparison, the Gaithersburg facility boasts far superior equipment, so I'm aware that this issue isn't representative of all Planet Fitness locations.
Eugene Perez (6/10/25, 3:11 AM):
The blokes at this gym need to tighten up on personal trainers (not affiliated with PF) showing up as regular punters and hogging a bunch of gear for ages just so their clients don't have to wait. Every day during busy hours, I find meself waiting quite a bit to use the equipment that I'm paying to use because there's a private trainer taking up as much space as they can and not letting anyone else have a go.
This is a lovely gym with lovely staff, but I can't give it a top-notch review if I can't get on the gear. It's a simple fix; hopefully the staff will start cracking down soon.
EDIT: Even though I don't pop in as often these days, I haven't come across this issue recently at the gym, so I've gone ahead and bumped up me review.
Henry Reyes (6/5/25, 6:02 PM):
I absolutely adore the fact that this gym is open 24 hours a day and the staff are incredibly friendly and supportive. The equipment is top-notch and the facility is always kept in pristine condition. I also appreciate the additional amenities such as hydro massage beds and both standing and lying tanning beds. Furthermore, with the black card membership, you have the flexibility to work out at any location of your choice. It's truly a fantastic offering!
Shirley Mitchell (6/4/25, 11:30 PM):
Absolutely top-notch PF I've visited. The maintenance here is spot-on, with regular cleanings and even spritzing of Febreze throughout the day to keep things smelling fresh.
David Nelson (6/3/25, 7:18 AM):
Great location with plenty of parking available. This Planet Fitness is situated on the second floor, which is quite typical. The Black Card zone is lovely and gives off a sense of privacy. The receptionists are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The gym area is well-maintained. The restrooms are decent, although the water pressure in the faucets is quite low, making it a bit challenging to properly clean your hands. 🙌
Janice Mitchell (6/1/25, 9:38 PM):
Just cracked open yesterday and already it is my top pick Planet Fitness Branch. Fantastic equipment arrangement and heaps of light. They boast an outstanding Black Card Spa, and a super-friendly team. I could chill here all day.
Samuel Ross (6/1/25, 2:27 AM):
Awesome value for money and open 24/7... If you just want to get your workout in, it's perfect. Like any gym, it tends to get busy in the early evening post-work hours.
Deborah Watson (5/31/25, 12:45 AM):
The gym itself is pretty decent, with friendly staff and well-maintained facilities. However, my main issue lies in the limited space for weightlifting and the scarcity of equipment. It's a challenge to find an open bench press or a set of dumbbells, especially during peak hours from noon to midnight. With only three bench presses, one set of dumbbells, one set of curl bars, and around four benches available, you can expect to wait your turn and constantly be on the lookout for equipment as it gets snagged by fellow gym-goers. This gym appears to be too cramped for the number of people it accommodates. I've visited another Planet Fitness location in a different state that is three to four times larger, making this one feel inadequate in comparison. While I'd like to continue my membership here, the lack of available equipment and crowded weightlifting area have led me to consider leaving. I just want to focus on my workout without the added stress of battling for equipment and feeling overcrowded by other patrons.
Timothy Cruz (5/30/25, 7:10 PM):
NOV 2023. Lovely gym, lovely folks, and a welcoming team. Had a jolly good time during my visit.
Kimberly Bennett (5/30/25, 5:51 AM):
While showering at the gym, I've noticed a female staff member constantly using the hand dryer in the bathroom until I finish. It can be quite bothersome, especially when they give me judgmental looks and gossip as I leave. This has happened on multiple occasions. What's up with Planet Fitness? Can't I have some privacy in the showers?
Donald Garcia (5/26/25, 8:18 PM):
Greetings, folks! Just popping in to share some thoughts on the recent gym I visited. I must say, the new spot is quite lovely! However, I must dock it 2 stars due to the consistent lack of disinfectant in the spray bottles during my last couple of visits. On top of that, there appears to be limited air flow, as my attempts to kickstart a fan were unsuccessful. In these times of COVID, it's crucial to have those spray bottles filled with disinfectant for machine cleaning and ensure proper air circulation. I'll keep an eye out for any improvements and update my review accordingly. Cheers!
Ryan Sullivan (5/26/25, 1:34 AM):
During the busiest times, there are too many individuals monopolizing the equipment for extended periods, so you need to be quick on your feet and switch things up before someone swoops in on your alternative workout plan. Nonetheless, the gym is sizable and offers a wide array of options to cater to everyone's preferences.
Amy Williams (5/25/25, 3:35 AM):
The gym is spotless and the staff are very friendly and sociable.
Deborah Cook (5/23/25, 11:06 AM):
This gym is absolutely brilliant! I've been a member for more than 2 years now, and let me tell you, I pass by at least 3 other gyms just to come here.
The staff is always so pleasant and accommodating. The equipment hardly ever breaks down, and if it does, they fix it up in a jiffy. Plus, there are plenty of machines available, so you never have to wait around. Simply top-notch!
Logan Carter (5/23/25, 1:19 AM):
I usually head to PF during quieter times to steer clear of the crowds, typically just before lunch. The staff are pretty chill, although there seems to be a lot of staff turnover. The gym is clean and has all the equipment I need. I particularly like the perks that come with the Black card membership, such as access to tanning beds and the total body pod. However, one downside is that the maintenance of the Black card extras could be better - for instance, the light bulbs in the total body pods are often out of order for extended periods even after being reported multiple times.
Judy Morales (5/23/25, 12:24 AM):
I must say, the chaps who were putting in the graft during the night shift were quite amiable, and the gym was immaculate. It's always splendid to see their dedication recognized. Cheers!
Julie White (5/22/25, 2:24 AM):
Just anotha rubbishy Planet Fitness, innit? The gear ain't half bad. That bloke at the front desk with dreads is a right git, told me I didn't 'ave a membership even though I 'ave the black card. He said I could ring my home gym, but blimey mate, me phone's knackered! Or pay 20 quid for a day pass. Me home gym said he didn't even bother to look me up proper like. Top job on the 1 star, innit?
Brittany Diaz (5/21/25, 9:45 AM):
At Planet (Mobsters?)Fitness, they seem to have a sneaky tactic up their sleeve when it comes to charging your card. Instead of processing payments promptly, they intentionally wait until after the due date, setting you up for potential late fees. This sly strategy gives you less time to address any payment issues that may arise, increasing the chances of incurring additional charges. It appears that this deliberate delay in processing payments is a cunning way to boost late fee revenues, catching even the most well-intentioned customers off guard.
